Third One (Those Other Books Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 203 ratings

It could have been just an innocent crush. Something guiltless and fleeting. But Luke spends every day with Marcus; they talk, touch and dance together, they create and perform together. They know each other inside out. As a consequence, Luke has been in love with his very much taken choreographer for years. Seeing Marcus and his partner Liam together has become increasingly painful, and Luke needs to leave. His dancing career is nearing an end anyway. He will start university, reinvent himself, forget Marcus and find happiness elsewhere.

Except Marcus loves him back. And Liam knows. Liam’s dark eyes and his imposing silhouette begin haunting Luke’s dreams. Drowning in both lust and sadness, Luke is swept into a passionate triangle with two men who couldn’t be more different. Suddenly, instead of fear or caution, there’s just a mind-numbing desire for more.

I love all of Roe's writing, his way with words is simply magical and enthralling. Roe is one of those authors where I will read everything just to enjoy the language, never mind the story. But there is something so beautiful, so sad, so haunting, and yet so happy in this story that it brings me to tears every time I read it. Part of what makes Roe's work so haunting is how subtle it is, yes it is very detailed in the sex, and beautifully so, but the emotions are subtle, feelings are subtle, and so, for me, it feels so real. The characters all feel real, people who are struggling to understand themselves and their desires and the people around them. Just feeling their way through life. I highly recommend all of Roe's work if you love that type of writing - but I do recommend starting with the first book in the series and reading them in oder as I think you will get a better application if you do.

Third One was a sexy intense read. It had all the emotions and hot sex you'd expect in a book featuring two men in a decade old relationship falling in love with a new man.

Liam, Marcus and Luke were all well written complex characters with unexpected depths.

Liam was caught between two men. Marcus a man he already loved deeply. And Luke a man he was fascinated by. Marcus was already in a relationship with Liam but found himself in the unexpected position of falling in love with Luke And Luke, hopelessly in love with Marcus, a man he believed would never be his as long as Marcus and Liam were together.

I loved how naturally they came together. There was some doubt and struggle but that is to be expected in ever new relationship, especially one as complicated as this one.

There are few authors i will bend outside my normal reading habits/troupes for, and Roe is absolutely one of them?

Why? Because he literally never dissapoints! My first MMM story had me pining for all three characters, and feeling none of the sticker ahoxk i feared. There was a beautiful bond here that was too big for just 2 men to share.

And let me tell you this, when Roe wants to be gloriously filthy (and i mean that in the best way) NO ONE does it better. And to top it off, there is no trade off of emotion and depth for steam.

Another great addition to this series ❤

This was incredibly hard to rate because, as always, it was beautifully written, and I couldn't put it down. Roe writes like a dream, and I always have a ton of highlights by the end. Just like in the previous books, the sex scenes are always erotic but never gratuitous. I NEVER skim them.

But like other people have said, I didn't feel much of a romantic connection between Luke and Liam.
In all honesty, it was lacking a bit between Luke and Marcus, as well.

When the book begins, Marcus and Liam are already in a loving, long term relationship. Marcus, however, has also fallen in love with Luke. The feeling is mutual, and there is a lot of longing between the two. Liam doesn't feel threatened though-he's just unhappy about the fact the Marcus is hurting.

I LOVED how Liam wasn't jealous. He's secure and confident in their relationship, and he understands that it's possible to love more than one person. I don't do well with love triangles, and I'm so glad that wasnt the case here. The three of them come together quite easily when they're in one room, all alone.

We're never shown how Luke and Marcus come to fall in love. There's a passing mention of the long talks they had where they got to know each other, but we're merely told and never a witness to it.

Later, when Liam and Luke meet, the attraction is instantly there... and then suddenly, so is the love.
The relationship between Liam and Luke is very insta-lovey. I have no doubts that they could easily fall in love with each other, but it happened too quickly, given the length of the book.

I technically didn't get to see the development of any of their relationships as individual couples and just barely as a throuple.
Sexually, they're explosive together, but I wanted to see more romantic development and growth between all of them.

Maybe some private dinners and more intimate conversations between Luke and Marcus and Luke and Liam. A few scattered lines or a chapter devoted to them all getting to know each other definitely would have helped. Maybe sharing some memories that show us why Marcus and Luke felt so deeply about one another.

Still, I would recommend reading The Third One, especially if you've already read the first two in the series because it really is beautifully written. I'm always going to read anything Roe writes.

I'd really love to read an extra novella about the three of them or even one showing the beginning of Marcus' and Liam's relationship!

This story is about Luke, Adam's old roommate. Luke is a dancer along with Adam in Marcus' troop. Luke has decided to quit because he has fallen in love with Marcus but Marcus is married to Liam. What Luke doesn't know is that Marcus and Liam are open to Luke being their third. Great story about the three MC's and super hot.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic - a definite 5* read.

I’m always dubious when polyamory (MMM in this case) is involved. I think it takes immense talent to write such a story without one party always feeling the least loved or least important but Roe has managed to create such a beautiful story that I never once worried that Luke would be ‘the third one’. My favourite of ‘The Other’ series - which is saying something as I’ve loved them all. The love scenes are absolutely beautiful, hot, everything you expect from Roe. A book I know I’ll re-read.

Loved this story (from a gifted author) of two men in a long standing, loving relationship who welcome a third man, ultimately creating a special relationship of love, support, and belonging. I’m sorry the story is over.

4.0 out of 5 stars Roe Horvat frappe encore très fort avec ce M/M/M !
Reviewed in France on March 30, 2020

I hate giving books low ratings but I was really looking forward to this book from the blurb and other opinions I had read but it just didn't work for me.

With a threesome like this you expect more but the arc, to me anyway, seemed very flat. It just didn't go anywhere, I found it very frustrating at times.

Having said that the intimate scenes were amazing, very well written but the rest just didn't seem to work for me.
