Thunderer (Gods of Bronze Book 2) Kindle Edition
A corrupt god demands blood sacrifice from his people and the young warrior Herkuhlos journeys to the west to save them. But a far greater danger lurks amongst the stone circles of this strange new land that will take more than his immortal strength to overcome.
On the wild shores of the cold northern sea, Sif is a young huntress and healer. Both spirit walkers of her tribe have mysteriously vanished and only Sif can find them. But there is a traitor amongst her people who will do anything to stop her from uncovering the truth.
Torkos the Devourer is finally free from his long captivity and now he is hunting the beautiful goddess of the Seal People to claim her as his own. But a son of the Usurper has tracked him from the east and if he is to win the ancient war against the gods he must first destroy the Godborn.
Only one figure from legend can unite the clans and defeat the evil that is devouring this land.
First he was the Godborn.
Now Herkuhlos must become the Thunderer.
N.B. Gods of Bronze is a prequel series to the Immortal Knight Chronicles featuring the character known as the Ancient One.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2023This is a series in which I would get lost in thought about the next chapter, unsure of what further trials or possible improvements to Herkulos’ (forgot proper spelling of his name) character or another tool/weapon added to his growing arsenal. Greatly recommend to fans of historical fiction or just a good and bloody adventure.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2024Dan Brown, being a historian has done an excellent job in this retelling of a half-God half-human hero from antiquity. As in Book 1, the battle scenes ate gruesomely gory. Early in the book I was disappointed in our heron for his ego lead him to seek the glory of men and women. He enjoyed the fruits of the flesh as he flaunted his arrogance, with disastrous consequences.
I am impressed that Brown revealed that the gods were immortal but had no power or control of the world or that within it. That's obvious to us in the 21st Century, but not so in the context of the story, so this was a monumental revelation to our hero. Yet he continued to call upon his god. Hmm.
The book ended on a strong note of hope; for our hero and for the people. I am looking forward to the next installment of this epic.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2024At first I was a bit disappointed as the main character was arrogant, rude and boastful! Not what I was expecting. But then… Well I’m not gonna spoil it for you other than saying it’s really a book that is great fun to read!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2024I have read the first two books in this series and I am really looking forward to reading the third book. The mixing of the stories of giants, the issues of bloodlines, etc, makes me think heavily on the Book of Enoch and other texts referencing the existence of giants that once roamed the earth.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2022I discovered Dan Davis on YouTube and became interested in the history and archeology of the distant past of human occupation in Europe. I read Godborn first and liked it but this book left me disappointed. Poor writing, run on sentences, grammar and punctuation mistakes detracted from a so-so story line. Herkulos keeps making mistakes but the investment in his apparent idiocy doesn't begin to be revealed until we are slapped in the face with why about 3/4 through the book, a fact I blame on weak craftsmanship in forging a believable story. I almost quit reading half way through, I wasn't invested in the story and the editorial mistakes became more and more annoying. I praise Dan for his research and desire to craft a compelling story in this historical context, I just don't think his writing was up to snuff and his editor let him down by allowing mistakes to make it into print.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2023Just a warning, our Herk is a bad boy for the first good 55% of the book. I think it must be unintentional hilarity at one scene in particular, I just started laughing. Still a fun read.
This author puts so much of his own research on YouTube! If you're interested in this era of human history, go watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as the first one, but in different ways
The book didn’t get me as hooked as the first one, I couldn’t really understand why the protagonist was so different than what he was in the first book, but it all becomes clear in the end why he had to go through all these steps.
The setting for book 3 is looking fantastic at the end, can’t wait for the story to continue

5.0 out of 5 stars He's Back Again.
Firstly, I have to say that I rarely write product reviews on Amazon, so when I do what I’m reviewing has to really stand out, and this book really stands out.
I read Godborn, the first book in the series a few weeks ago... now comes Thunderer.
Thunderer is a fitting second volume in the authors reworking of the Herakles myth. As I said in my review of Godborn, the fact that a massive bloke armed with a club slaying monsters appears in mythology across the whole of Europe and across into India points toward the character of Herakles having older roots that are to be found in Greece. This series is the authors reworking of the stories, placing them in the early bronze age where they probably would have originated. The author has cleverly worked into the books a great deal of archaeological and historical detail about the world of this period.
Whereas the events in Godborn take place in what is now the Ukraine, the events in Thunderer take place further to the north and west in the lands to the south of the Baltic.
This book has our hero on the hunt for The Boar – a right nasty piece of work if ever there was one. The author’s take on the origins if the Herakles legend is both original and somehow believable – even though it involves immortal gods and goddesses. Somehow they are all rendered quite believable – I’m not quite sure how he did that, but that must be something to do with being a capable writer. In this book the writer further develops our chief protagonist giving him doubts and fears as he starts to mature; in the first book he was still only 16 and was pretty wet behind the ears..
I really have to stop myself going into any detail as I don’t like spoiling stories, but suffice to say this is another great read for anybody with an interest in the Herakles myth, stories set in the European bronze age, or anyone else who just wants an action packed historical / mythical / fantasy story. In my review of Godborn I said that there was something about the book that reminded me of “The People” series by Kathleen and Michael Gear. That holds just as true with this book too, but there is also something about it that makes me think of the original Conan stories of Robert E. Howard. That may sound like a strange juxtaposition of 2 very different styles, but if you read it you’ll understand what I’m trying to say. Buy it!

A well spun series of a hero in the making, gathering needed knowledge and strength as the chapters of events unfold.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good read
Yes book 2 finished and another good story about good and evil I will wait for the next one The author has been very clever if each monster gets killed in each book then he has a several more stories to tell and a long way to go before he kills them all keep them Coming
