Till Next Time: Small Town Second Chance Romance Kindle Edition
I met Colt Malene when I was fourteen years old.
And I’ve never recovered...
He became the headstrong star quarterback in a town that idolized high school football titles.
Meanwhile, I was the coach’s dutiful perfectionist daughter, never daring to step out of line.
We should have stayed far away from each other but we didn’t.
And the volatile fallout was unbearable.
More than a decade has passed and now my father is dying.
He wants to make amends.
He wants to be forgiven for the role he played in Colt’s ruinous downfall and my painful heartbreak.
To give a dying man some peace, Colt and I agree to a plan.
While Colt is here in town, we pretend to date.
We pretend to like each other.
We pretend that the past is buried and forgotten.
But with one reckless, passionate act we carve a new future.
Leading to a fate we never suspected.
In the middle of a storm we never saw coming.
And an ending no one could have predicted...
TILL NEXT TIME is a 112,000 word stand alone. Two extreme opposites resist a blistering attraction, make a fake dating pact, shock their small town, and ultimately fight for their second chance at a happy ending.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2021Wow. I’m not even sure I can write a review that adequately describes how I feel about this book. Cora Brent is one of my favorite authors. Her books are guaranteed to be emotional, extremely well written, characters that feel like they are real and they absolutely will stay with you. This latest instalment into the world of Arcana is no exception.
Susanna and Colt’s love story is an outstanding testimony to the power of true love being able to conquer all. We journey with these 2 from the beginning of their tale as teens and ride along their very bumpy journey to HEA. And my goodness what a journey it is.
You will root for them all along the way. You will cry, both happy tears and sad. You’ll find yourself holding your breath at some parts and you’ll want to throw your Kindle in others. You’ll go through a variety of emotions …. Okay….you’ll go through ALL the emotions. And gently & thoughtfully, Ms. Brent will stitch it all together in the most amazing way.
My words fall short to explain how much I loved this book and the small corner of the universe where these 2 beautiful characters reside. I feel like I’m leaving behind dear friends with the closing tale of this series. I’m so thankful I can visit with them again by re-reading the stories. Maybe we can get a second generation like we got with the Gentry boys….one can only hope. INCREDIBLE book!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2023Opposites attract. Second chance.
These two were total opposites, and they stayed total opposites. They truly cared about each other, but circumstances really kept them apart.
After reuniting, it's really still opposites attracts with a lot of hard circumstances. There's some parent loss as well. Our parents make mistakes, but I always respect the ones who turn it around.
Colt takes a long time to find his place, but it's so sweet when he finally does.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2021Let me start by saying that I tend to dislike long books and try to avoid them—more often than not, I find myself wasting my reading time with needless filler. There are exceptions, of course, and this is one of them. The love story of Colt and Susanna was beautifully laid out and I was hooked from the beginning. (Actually, I was drawn in by their brief interactions in Till It Hurts!)
I’ll also confess that I usually don’t like flashbacks, but Cora wrote those scenes like she was inside my brain when I was a teenager, imagining the most magical interactions with the boys who sparked my interest. Those chapters are perfect.
Cora’s characters always seem so real, and I found myself tearing up more than once. The dramatic bits were authentic and exciting, and the ending was completely satisfying. Till It Hurts was a wonderful book; this one was even better. Cora continues to rise to the top of my list of favorite authors!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2022I loved this book! After reading Tori and Jaces story I was smitten and had to find out how Colt got his happy ending. This one was more difficult for me. The loss of Susanna’s father was tough. Knowing the back story and the regret that was carried by all of the key characters made for some tears. I teetered back and forth wanting to both hug Susanna for staying strong and strangle her for not asking Colt to stay, however I think he needed the time away to know just how important it was to plant roots. My absolute favorite part of the book was the epilogue. I love to know my people are going to live happily ever after in their safe little bubble. These were my first Cora Brent books but they will not be my last. The author did a fantastic job of brining love, anger, angst, healing and happiness all full circle. This book is for anyone looking for a happily ever after for first loves with messy history through no fault of their own.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2022From eyeing other reviews, it appears that I am definitely in the minority with my rating. I really liked these characters and felt their pain, enjoyed their happiness and cheered them along. But it was a slow-go and much less than I expected.
A lot of repetitious backtracking from the first book “Till It Hurts” when Colt, Jace and Tori were best friends. Susanna wasn’t a part of their group but appeared as the shy and smart overachiever who was the Coach’s daughter and forbidden and hands-off to Colt, the wild and carefree football star.
Now, the gang finishes up high school and move onto "real life." Instead of the threesome - it's a foursome with Susanna back home to take care of her ill father. Colt is away in Montana working construction projects and Tori and Jace are getting married -- bringing Colt home for his sister's wedding and a reunion with Susanna. Thus, begins the new saga.
The book had innumerable missing words and silly little editing problems that could certainly have benefited by a final line-by-line editing job.
I struggled with a bit of boredom throughout this book. Tons of angst throughout, both romantic and family relationship-wise. Getting to the meat of the current story was a long haul. Finally, after some real drama and another round of particularly hard times, it picked up the pace and finished with a standing ovation – yet not enough to really wow me.

Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥
Triggers: loss of a parent
Ugh! What a beautifully emotional story! Just so well written and with all the angst 💔. The nerdy good girl and coach's daughter paired with the boy from the wrong side of the tracks whose life is heading off the rails who doesn't believe he's good enough for her. Her dad runs him off and he stays gone ten years. Now, her dad is dying and wants to make up for driving him off, but feelings of low self worth are hard to overcome. The characters are relatable and flawed. My heart hurt for them and I definitely shed a couple tears. Just a beautiful story ❤
Till Next Time is a standalone, but best enjoyed after reading Till It Hurts. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute
The prologue had me gripped. I became slightly disappointed that I had to reach all the way to the end of the book to find out what actually happened. I skimmed the majority of the pages chasing that ending!
It was a sweet read, could have been way more dramatic but overall it was good.
