    I give this book a 3.5.

    Gemma is a sub who was severely hurt by a man was supposed to be her Dom. The event left her with some serious trauma that she had to deal with. She mostly dealt with it by blocking it out, changing her job, leaving all her kinky friends behind, and trying to live as vanilla life as possible. She was just existing, not really living. All that changed one day at her copier machine.

    Jason is a very driven man and a Dom. He runs a large company, where Gemma works. One day he's trying to figure out what is going on with the copier, but can't figure it out. Then Gemma walks in, fixes it, and draws his attention. He starts a sexual relationship with her, pretty much vanilla. '

    After some time, they discover the other's secret, and they start playing with Domination and submission. But, can they get their HEA?

    I've read and enjoyed several other books by Jaye Peaches, so I went into this one optimistically. I liked parts and I disliked parts. I like that the book should that a good D/s relationship just doesn't happen, it takes work, and that there are a lot of boundaries and issues that need to get worked through. I also liked that Gemma's trauma just doesn't go away magically because she's in a new relationship and Jason is careful to respect her limits and not push her anywhere near anything that might end up hurting her.

    I did not like Jason a lot of the time. I spent a lot of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop in regards to him. I thought sure that he was going to do something terrible or just dump Gemma outright. I think part of it is because we only see Gemma's POV, so we never know what's going on with Jason's mind. Gemma has a lot of doubts, and Jason seems to ignore them a lot of the time, and he does occasionally overreact. The fact that I did dislike him a lot of the time made it a little harder for me to get as far into the book as I could've, though I did like it and did enjoy it. I was glad that it ended the way that it did, as I wasn't sure it was going to.

    Gemma was the victim of a criminal assault in a D/s relationship which has turned her away from that life. She quits her job, and once she recovers physically, she accepts a position as an intern at a new company. She soon catches the eye of Jason, the owner of the company; and they begin a vanilla relationship. This develops to where they both admit to being in the BDSM lifestyle. Jason is very careful with her limits and Gemma works hard to move back into her life.
    The book has a great plot with several twists and turns. The characters were well developed. I found Gemma very understandable and appealing. It sometimes felt that Jason was too aloof with her considering his intentions, but at the end he is loving. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
