    If you're a fan of vampire stories with creative new twists and turns, this story is right up your alley. Ms. Daniels creates an ethical question in the midst of an often unethical world, and shows us both the hope and defeat that go with it.

    Loved the line, ..."babbling, leaky humans." This dash of humor adds nice flavor, and is the sort of thing that makes this author so unique. This is not just your average, run-of-the-mill paranormal. It's got style and personality.

    I felt the characters very quickly came to life (no pun intended). I enjoyed some of the almost human dilemmas they faced, and how their choices were explained. Most of all, I like getting a glimpse into the larger world of her full-length books. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more work from this author.

    This short story is the perfect companion to the Halfborn series. Daniels has developed a world full of various breeds of vampiristic individuals. They live hidden amongst humanity. Calvin is intent on building an army of such people, and all he needs is a bit of time, surgical instruments, and the bodies of humans who have no hope left. But such experimentation comes with a price… I enjoyed the way the author introduced her characters and built up the story as it grew more and more gruesome. It’s definitely worthy of being a part of the One Million Project Thriller Anthology.
