Miss Sarah Graham knows the Duke is involved in important matters for the King but she must also remain silent. Her fears grow when Viscount Harrogate continues to pursue her, quite certain that his evident admiration of her is nothing but a ruse. Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother (Mom didn't like the sexy book covers!)

She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her. She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.

On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!

A romance of a lady of the ton and a new Discount just arrived from the war; a bit of a mystery, and the sweetness of a new found love told by the very talented Rose Pearson. What else do we need to spend a cozy and rainy afternoon by the fire?
    Well recommend, very enjoyable.

This is the first in a series that I can only assume consists of standalone books on the same theme. It follows the formula for a Recency romance, but has enough deviation and plot twists to keep it original. As always with such a short book, I wished for more character development, but I do understand the tradeoff. I also appreciate that the book was well edited, which seems to be more rare all the time. I will read another of her books when I'm next in the mood for a romance.

This is a well written and edited book. There are a few typos and the use of the word Ground when the characters are inside on the FLOOR. This seems to be a common, modern day, intentional misuse of the proper words to describe where the characters are! It is not acceptable in literature. The story plot is similar to other regency romances yet it has it's own details that make it unique and interesting. Overall, a good book and shows promise in this author.

I was disappointed by this novel in that the storyline was rather weak with a minimal amount of action, especially between the main characters. It was a sweet novel, but even so, there was not a lot of interaction that held one’s interest.

It also was weakened by the repetitive words/action regarding the word “shrug.” Barely a page went by, it seemed, that there was a character either displaying either the verb (e.g. shrugging) or the noun (shrug.) I think it was especially annoying because I do not expect to read of Regency women shrugging. Just writing these examples sounds very silly to me. Imagine a novel full of them! It further weakened a thin plot, making it difficult to get through.

Lord Harrogate was loyal to king and country and was directly involved in the war. Now, due to injuries and family deaths, he was destined to return to England to play a different part in the war effort. Sarah would come to play a big part in this same effort because of family connections. Intriguing story of attempted murder, treason and romance.

After leaving the military Viscount Harrogate, Daniel is tasked with giving the Duke of Abernyte a sealed letter. But no one knows where he is or at least they are not saying. Daniel is suspicious of everyone he meets and they in turn wonder about him. He defends Sarah but she questions his motives since he keeps asking about her cousin the duke. There was a lot of back and forth and changing of opinion. The romance develops quickly escalated by the drama.
