Tortured Hero Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 196 ratings

I had it all.
The rich parents, the top school, the girl and the best friend.

I use that term loosely now. Best friend.

The best friend that couldn't wait to stab me in the back and take what was mine without a single glance back.

But in this chaos, I found my light in my darkest days.
I needed her more than she could ever know.

I am here to tell my story, to tell you what really happened when I was left behind with the monsters.

I am scarred, I am broken, I am bruised.
But I am a soldier, a warrior, a fighter.
And it's my turn to be heard.

Please be advised that this book is only suitable for 18+ due to mature themes throughout. This book deals with PTSD and also talk of suicide.

Beautiful - Tortured- Angsty Ride that you will not be able to put down!
My Review Beautiful - Tortured- Angsty Ride that you will not be able to put down! Tortured Hero is a a truly great story! Chase is so broken and at the end of his rope when a stranger steps in an changes him for the better. I absolutely loved this book from start to finish and I can not say enough great things about. This is the 2nd book I’ve read from Ashlee Rose and I can not wait to read more. Chase is the broken hero, he finally hits the end of his rope an Carter takes a chance and trying to help him through the darkest of times. The characters that come with being plucked into a new country he is faced with his demons head on and the twist an turns that come only want to make him try harder to get back to the man he once was. Sometimes all it takes is one person to push you to the brink to make you come back to the life you deserve and I think that is what the friends he makes along this path had done for him. This is such a good redemption story and I can’t wait for everyone to be able to read it.

Ashlee Rose has done it again. I mean this book, wow this book! I will recommend it to everyone I know.

This book is not your regular romance love book, this is so much more. It has angst and it has triggers about PTSD and suicide. So it's not an easy book to read because it is darker but I have come to love books like this. It gives well written story about Chase Sawyer and his recovery from the trauma that he came home with after being held captive and tortured.

Chase has two choices, to fight his demons or give in to them. He has Robyn by his side but is that enough? Is his love for her enough to make him fight for his life or has he given up? That is where this book starts.

I was looking forward to reading Chase story after I had read the book Promise me and I'm not disappointed. It gives a story about a broken man that has his demons that he needs to fight, not just for his own sake but also for the love of his life and his family.

I don't want to spoil anything cause if you're gonna read just one book this year it should be this one.

Tortured Hero is Chases story and the title is perfect for his book. I was super excited to start this, I’ve been wanting more Chase and to know more about him and what he’s been through so I couldn’t wait to dive in.

I struggled a bit at the start of Chases story. I didn’t have the instant connection that I was expecting to have with the characters and it did take me a little while to really get into this book. It was definitely a case of it’s me and not the book, I was distracted and struggling to concentrate which didn’t help at all . Once I’d hit the quarter mark it changed and that’s when I started to feel more of a connection with the characters and really started to get invested in the story.

Chases story isn’t always easy to read, he’s been through some truly heartbreaking things in the past and seeing how much he struggled really did hurt. He’s fighting his demons and there were times I did wonder if he was going to win the battle. His love for Robyn is what keeps him going, pushes him to want to be a better man and I was desperately hoping he’d get his own, much deserved, HEA after all he’d been through.

I wasn't really sure if I wanted to read this after Connor & Darcey's story, but I did want to find out what happened to Chase. I loved the characters, but the story was just too far out there and I lost interest REAL quick, so I skimmed. At least it's a HEA I guess, but this story....just couldn't grasp.

I received this copy of Tortured Hero As an Arc, for my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Ashlee Rose. I love it. I was not expecting the twist and turns within the book. When I thought the story was going to go one way it made a hard left. I fell in love with Chase he is an amazing character. How the characters, places, and scenes are written, you can envision them as if you are within the book. Once I started reading, I knew that I was hooked. I wanted to read more. I cannot wait to read more.

Tortured Hero is the perfect title for Chase's story. If you want to read about the troubling times of a man returning home from ANY BATTLE then this is your story. Chase hit me where it hurt with his POV. At times, I found myself crying with him, yelling with him, and I JUST WANTED HIM TO KNOW HE WAS LOVED.

Yes, at some points I felt the story was dragging, or I lost touch just a little. But I can say that this book still made me a fan. For any writer, it will take time for them to keep a readers attention with the character for the plots BUT MS. ROSE I am not mad at what you have done thus far.

Disclaimer: I have received this book as an ARC but this is my honest review.

Before I get started on this review let me say it is a tough read. This is not a book where the tortured hero recovers in the first few chapters to go on as if nothing happened. Chase is deeply traumatized after what happened to him. His demons are very real and not even the ones who he loves can bring him back. There is an attempted suicide and some vicious flashbacks. This is not a book for the faint hearted. Add in a secondary plot which I can't go into due to spoilers and this book gives you real insight into what happens when a tortured hero comes home. Not sure that I would say I enjoyed this book, I don't think that's the right word. It was certainly an enthralling read. One I'm glad I read free on KU. I doubt I would have paid for it. Now the author has me hooked and I can't wait to find out the other couples back stories.

    Chase.. Chase.. Chase..
    Where do i start?
From the moment i met him in Promise Me, i loved him, i knew his story wasn't going to be easy.
Chase really is a tortured hero, he wears his demons on his sleeve. He fought to hide them but they was always too powerful.
I love how his pain and suffering wasn't just 'glossed over' and an after thought. You got to see Chase overcome his demons.
I loved Robyn, the name says it all really LOL!
I loved the whole storyline, i loved the twists and turns and i just loved everything about this book!

So pleased to be able to follow Chase and Robyn's story through to fruition. His battle with PTSE was beautifully and well researched, and my heart went out to him at every step. Great to see him finally make peace with it all and to work things out with Conor.
