Touching Fate (A Collection of Strays Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 433 ratings

Meeting my true mate is supposed to be the best day of my life, but when I step in front of Elwood’s door, expecting to jump into my alpha’s arms and live happily ever after, I am sorely disappointed. I have no idea why my mate doesn’t want me but I’m determined to keep him in my life, even if it’s just as my friend. How long can I take keeping my alpha at arm’s length before it breaks me? ~Frankie

What is it about the adorable red-headed boy that draws me in and has my dragon wanting? I can’t help but realize Frankie is everything I’ve ever wanted in a mate. Everyday it gets harder to remember I’m supposed to be holding back my feelings because we’re only friends. When we do finally touch, I know it’ll be explosive and change both of our lives forever. ~Elwood

This 35k novella, which is book two in A Collection of Strays, is guaranteed to give you the mpreg, shifters, and happily ever after you love. Touching Fate is filled with knotty fun, shiny eggs, friends to lovers, true mates, and laugh out loud shenanigans and is intended for those 18 or over.

Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who loves football but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.

In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.

Adorable
Book 2 in Toby Wise’s A Collection of Strays series. While each book covers a different couple’s relationship – there’s comments, events, etc that make these best enjoyed in order starting with Before Fate. I admit Elwood and his twin, Rhett, were my immediate favorites in book 1, Ageless Fate. I loved the introduction of Frankie – Frankie the fox! How cute is that? Friends-to-mates-to-lovers was a fun way to get to know these two better and as a couple. They’re both so sweet and once they finally get on the same page about being mates, so much fun. Especially Frankie’s alternate swear words. As always the interactions with the rest of the pack are a riot. Enjoying these quick reads and looking forward to jumping right into Isaiah’s story, Fate’s Perfect Timing.

I LOVED LOVED this book, it was fun, heartwarming and a little steamy! Plus dragon!

    Character breakdown;

Elwood: I didn’t know if I was going to love Elwood but I did and I learned of a new type of piercing! And yes it IS always the QUIET ONES!

Frankie: I loved him so much! He was so adorable and a little bit sassy! I loved how easily he flowed with Elwood, his twin and their family!

Quick, fun and sweet I adored this book so much! 8.9/10 ⭐️ absolutely recommend!

I really liked this book. 4 stars for rating, 3 for spice. This was a sweet story with them progressing from strangers to friends to lovers. And the pretty rocks and shiny egg were entertaining, and makes me curious what else are in Elwood and Rhett’s hoards.

This particular story hit a sweet spot for me. Frankie always wanted a big family and lots of children. He and his mate got one pregnancy, twins, but he accepted that would be his family and I understand that. Elwood immediately taking precautions is not something you see in omegaverse so I appreciated that modern take. Very cute story, hot steamy scenes. I can’t wait to see Isaiah fall in love next.

I am really loving this series and getting to know all the kids. This book is about one of the twins Elwood and him meeting his mate Frankie. It was super cute to see them develop a friendship before they became mates. Oh but when they did it was hot and heavy. As the quite twin I'm super happy to see him meet his mate. Frankie gets along perfectly with the family.

    Can wait to read more

This was a sweet addition. Frankie meets his mate Elwood, excited. Only to have his heart crushed when Elwood believes he there for his twin, Rhett.

Despite his actions and earlier mistake, Elwood finds himself attracted to Frankie. Falling for him as he gets to know his mate.

The two finally touch and wham! Mate time.

Support from each family, secrets disclosed, and memories from the past help to solidify their love. An egg added to the mix.

    Next book, Isaiah!!!

Definitely needs some editing. The characters were enjoyable. I'm a little confused about how everything in this world works. In the first book, Dakota went into heat after meeting Charlie and it didn't seem to end until he was pregnant. Frankie did not go into heat immediately after scenting that Elwood was his mate and he got pregnant outside of his heat. Is it just different because that's the way the author wanted these stories to go or is there an actual reason for it? I wanted to like this more than I did. I am unsure about continuing the series.

I loved the continuation of this series! We get an adorable meet cute with mistaken identity. I love the friendship that these two form and you wonder are they going to get their happily ever after? I love how the author has them face different issues and how they come together to overcome those issues and find their happiness! You also learn a little bit more about the rest of the family that is amazing!!

Omegaverse sweet romance fluff is a guilty pleasure of mine, and this series is plenty light and sugary. On top of the “aww shucks” shifter alpha/omega romance, the array of characters (the family of strays) are fun and sweet and diverse. Overall, this yields a very quick, light, and fun romance with a tiny bit of sizzle.

3.5 stars - rounded up for the fun and the sweet family of strays

3.0 out of 5 stars An OK Read

An OK read. I usually enjoy alpha/omega stories and this one started out quite nice, the first half was sweet and romantic as a couple slowly got close, the second half however was, for me anyway, slower paced and a teensy bit boring in places. I did finish it though.
