Touch of Home (Blessing Montana Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 76 ratings

Injured Sergeant Emily Sharp was forced to trade her combat boots in for a grade book. Now as a fourth-grade teacher she has her students write letters to deployed military members. It’s her way of giving back to those who are still risking their lives for their country. When a co-worker asks her to write a letter to her brother, to help him realize leaving the military isn’t the end, she’s at a loss what to say. Their situations are different. Her duty to her country was cut short, while his decision is by choice.

After twenty years in the Marines, Gunnery Sergeant Daniel Fitch’s life is about to change. Retirement is a hard pill to swallow. With the ghosts of those he lost haunting his thoughts and the weight of those whose lives would never be the same, he knows it’s time. With only weeks left he’s not sure what his future holds, until a letter arrives addressed to him.

Fate intervenes, bringing two Marines whose paths have crossed before, back together. With a stubborn older sister playing matchmaker and a freak storm, they might get more than they’d ever hoped for.

Emily wrote a letter to Daniel who was a Marine stationed in Iraq. And so the story begins... Marissa Dobson paints a picture of doubts and fears of being able to make it in the “real world”. Her pictures made me laugh, cry, and realize that we all have the ability to overcome the “bad stuff” to achieve our “happily ever after”. This book leaves you with a feeling of home, family, and hope.

I liked this book, primarily because our lacked a lot of drama. Sometimes you just need a book that had good intentions from the beginning. That is what you get with this book.

The plot is after-military life and the need and want to deserve that life. These two both have the ability to lead regular non-military lives, but does Daniel deserve it? Getting him to believe this may be a struggle, so read this book and find out.

Touch Of Home by Marissa Dobson is a contemporary romance. Ms. Dobson has provided readers with a fantastic story packed with outstanding characters. Daniel is coming to the end of his deployment and will soon be retired from the Marines. Emily was wounded in battle and left her Marine life behind to become a school teacher. Emily and Daniel's story is loaded with drama, humor and spice. I adored the characters in this story. This story is a bumpy ride though, the editing needed more attention. This would have been a solid 4 star read if the editing had been better, maybe even a 5. Touch Of Home is book 2 of the Blessing Montana Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I loved everything about this story & how it all went into the mix from beginning to end..just wish there had been more...I always hate when a good story ends unless there is another book in the series!!

This was a very nice story about the mending of two harts, and how a innocent and well intended letter can bring together two lost and lonely soles!

Overall, I liked this book and the two main characters but there were parts of the story that seemed to drag on for me. This was my first book by this author but I definitely think I'll check out more of her work.

This book was just OK for me. The story was good but the characters never drew me in. They seemed to be a little bit flat. The story had great potential but was never acheved in my opinion. A good quick read.

3.5 stars. This review is hard. I really liked this story, yet there were quite a few flaws within it. First, my many Kleenex warning - read in public at your own risk. This story dealt with some aspects of the horrors of war- so it is an emotional read, but quite well done IMO. The plot arc of this story was not like your typical romance, with the pinnacle "I love you" happening very early on (a little too early I thought) then the novel continued with them dealing with various issues. The pacing of the novel was a little off - with some spots dragging and other areas too quickly- where conflict is presented then resolved almost immediately so tension wasn't built up. This book does end at 80%, with the last bit being an excerpt from another novel. There were quite a few editing issues with this novel such as wrong word usage (eg picture instead of pitcher), inconsistencies (son/mother used instead of grandson/grandmother in several spots) and a few awkwardly worded sentences. These issues were very distracting to the story, thus a whole star decrease from my emotional rating of the book. All that being said, I really liked this story.

Slow and sluggish at times but good storyline. A cross between a sweet love story with some added sex scenes at the end. Sweet but could have been more.

The veterans of any war have suffered stimili overload, survivor's guilt, and many of them injured in some way. PTSD is real, and this story shows how everyone is affected by it.
