4.4 out of 5 stars 2,957 ratings

I've lost my family, my wealth, and the place I called home for the past five years.

Now I’ve moved back to where it all began…

With the guys I thought I’d never see again.

Abel, Ronan, Wells, and Bishop were my friends at one time.

The only girl they would let into their inner circle.

Now they hate me.

They think I’m a traitor.

And I don’t know why.

But I am bound and determined to find out.

The problem is, there is a super fine line between hate and lust.

What happens when we all cross it?

A Shockingly Beautiful Book
“I can’t begin to explain how it feels when you have been ignored your whole life and you are suddenly seen. It’s like the sun deciding to shine after the longest season of rain.” Tropes: reverse harem, childhood friends, enemies-to-lovers, bully romance After 5 years of no contact, Lennon moves back to Minnesota to try her damnedest to figure out what she did that made her childhood friends hate her so much. She understands disappointment and a little anger, but hate? It seems so extreme. The Valiant – made up of the gorgeous boys from Lennon’s past – are not Loxley Prep’s ideal welcoming committee. Through betrayal, anger, and endless nights of loneliness for Lennon, she’s bound and determined to finally learn why they want to ruin her life and take everything from her. I feel like I can’t really say much specifically about this book without giving away major spoilers, so all I will say is this: GO. BUY. THIS. BOOK. It’s got some serious spice (like, we’re talking 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️) and a whole lot of “huh?” moments that keep you guessing. I am STILL guessing because this book left me on a cliffhanger and I am dying for it to be May already for book two’s release. Hattie Jude, you own my heart now, congratulations 😂

I initially picked this book up because of the gorgeous cover, and I’m glad I did. This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I’ll definitely look into her others! The cliffy was 🤯😭 - I need Book 2!

The book is told in multiple POVs and incorporates flashback to a “disciplinary camp” where Lennon and her boys initially met. Having to endure the camp together, they all became very close… until they weren’t… and the boys believed Lennon betrayed them.

Present day Lennon has lost everything - her father committed suicide after losing everything (their fortune, their home). Although Lennon is 18, she lives with her aunt who became her “caretaker” upon seeing her father’s downward spiral. They moved from Texas back home to Minnesota - her aunt is looking to find love and Lennon is looking for answers. The boys, however, are NOT happy to see her, but she really doesn’t understand why….

I loved the twists and secrets… and really can’t wait to find out what else will be revealed. I have so many questions… what is Darby hiding? Who really betrayed the boys? What’s up with Brewster 🤯🤯🤯

This is definitely a slow burn - the focal point is on the plot and character development. I loved how the boys hate but clearly still have strong feelings for Lennon. The chemistry is real, and I’m here for it!

I hate a weak female main character. I get that she's only 18 and that's her only saving grace. I absolutely hate reading about weakness from women. She's not quite a woman though so I can't be too turned off. I will read the next book because I'm invested in the story line. Hopefully, she strengthens up a little.

Lennon has been through a lot throughout her life and I am sure more than what has even been mention throughout this story, but now she is back in Minnesota and face to face with the four boys she met at a camp five years prior. However, everything has changed and they want nothing to do with her. She is their enemy but has no clue why. I loved Lennon. She is strong and isn’t afraid to stand up to the guys who used to be her best friends. Abel, Ronan, Wells and Bishop…these guys are each others family. They have been throughout together and all experienced camp together. I love how they are all so different from each other, but they balance each other out perfectly.

This is a slow burn, but I loved it. Yet, there is still chemistry there between Lennon and the guys. Lennon and a couple of them are walking that fine line for a majority of the book and others cross that line a little bit sooner.

I loved the flashback scenes and getting to see what happened while they were all at camp, especially getting all the guys POVs throughout the book to see how they were, especially compared to where they are now. Though, I was wishing that there was some of their POVS in the present, too.

I seriously need book two now! I need more of these characters, their stories and to see how tings are going to play out.

If you’re looking for an enemies to lovers, reverse harem, bully romance this is one to check out.

I absolutely loved every minute of this book. It has been quite awhile that I got hooked in a bully/friends-to-enemies-to-lovers/ childhood sweethearts kind of romance. And boy, this book pack a punch. This will have you turning those pages dying to know what will happens next and keeps you on your toes guessing what caused the fall out. I liked Lennon's sassy comebacks to the guys. While I adored the guys, how they are all intense and crazy about Lennon, I want to know more of them aside from those brief POV. As a first time reader, I liked the author's writing style, how she built up the suspense and the easy flow of present and the past that made a compelling storyline. With a cliffhanger ending, I hoped that there will be more build up on the romance department in the next book.

Ok so Hattie Jude knows exactly what to do to get my attention! She had me at RH but my goodness the story though! I can tell this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Lennon, Abel, Wells, Ronan, Bishop and their secrets that are waiting to be revealed. I loved her use I’d flashbacks, they were perfect for the story. The suspense level is on high because you’re left questioning so many people and their actions. She gave me just enough but left me hungry for more so safe to say I am hooked and eager for more to come in the next book!

This Book is the FIRST in a series - In case you hadn't noticed while checking it out.

Traitor is a High School Bully romance that had a new take on why the bullies are bullies, while also not really at the same time. Familiar mixed with new and that is what pulled me in.

Lennon is our Main girl involved with the broody foursome, and she has her work cut out for her. I was surprised by the history that she has with them, definitely wasn't expecting it. Then later some aspects are added that are a little more familiar and repetitive and you're like "Why did you have to add that in?...their lives sucked enough without it". The same thing with the twists that pop up throughout the series. Some of them are new and you're like dang, and then others are...predictable enough that you're paying closer attention to certain parts of the book and missing others.

I am reviewing it as a repeat read, so I definitely recommend that you give it a chance and see exactly why. Especially for Bishop...I wanted so much more Bishop than what Hattie gave me, but I understand why we couldn't have more of him so I'm not mad, just starving.

Fast paced, slow burn and so much angst. Can’t wait to read the rest and see what’s going to happen with the secrets of Lennon and the guys.
