NAMELESS ONE (Tales from Myth and Lore) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 105 ratings

"I love the woods. Love everything about it. This book has a lot of enchanting characteristics of the forest."
"A wonderful fable. The sentient nature of the forest and, indeed, the elements make this tale a fable."

'In a realm with mystical beings, a rule existed prohibiting these beings from mating with humans. However, a female fell in love with a human and bore a son. The boy paid dearly for his mother's actions.
He was not even granted a proper name, referring to him only as Nameless One. Since he was no purebred, Nameless One was constantly bullied and rejected by others. Despite this, he held onto hope that he would find a mate who would accept him for who he was. The elders were horrified when they found out that he had secretly met a human. They severely punished him by breaking his wings, crushing his body, and banishing him to a lifetime of servitude. The Nameless One was forced to exist in a bottle where he had to serve humans and fulfill their wishes.
One day, he was granted a single wish that released him from captivity. Although he was still lonely, he was at least free, wondering if he dared to dream of finding someone to love him.'

Jack Hagin- "Modern Day LGBT Parable
Lily has written us a beautiful modern day parable about loving those who are differentthan others. She reminds us that ALL need a place to be safe and protected. Shegently tells us that Mother Nature protects all of her children in the way theyneed to be protected. I read this lovely book in a single sitting and knew evenbefore I started reading it that I would be given a new and different glimpseof the age old truth that LOVE is everything. I am sure you will find this taleas enchanting and up-lifting as I did. Enjoy!"

This story is so simply brilliant. From the moment I started the first
paragraph until the very last word it captured my heart and spirit.
I stopped the religious thing many years ago, but that is not what this story is
about. It's about empathy and compassion and most of all it is about LOVE.
The "the Nameless One's" life has been a horrendous journey no one could
withstand all because he is different. He has been unloved, misjudged and
punished far beyond all endurance all because he has been so wrongly
viewed as a monster. The cruel and terrible things he has had to do against
his will every single time he is passed to another is destroying him. Oh, and
the physical pain.... it's worse than you can imagine. His heart has been
beaten along with his soul and yet it is never ending. I cried and wept for
him. "The Nameless One" is left so alone to suffer with no one to comfort
him or even listen to his pain and agony. My heart just hurt for him at his
    loneliness.
Then there is Faine. A baby abandoned for being physically challenged and
undesirable. Why? Because he is not perfect? What is perfection? Parents
leave their "unwanted" children at the forest boundaries in their belief that
the forest would take them. But take them for what? I can't share that for
that is the reader to discover for themselves...... but Sylvonna takes our
Faine, and he is not left alone to die.
I love the use of nature, of the wilderness and especially the elements we take
for granted that this author uses. Ms. Lamb uses these elements almost as
real characters, and so for me it was all so very beautiful and glorious in its
    descriptions.
"The Nameless One" and Faine's separate life journey's are eventually
brought together and it was a joy to read and experience. Ms. Lamb is
becoming a weaver of words that I immensely took joy in reading. I fell in
love with these young men through their pain and sorrow.
Egann & Faine story is a love story. A fairy tale to be sure, but a story of
their very own for their happily ever after.
Ms. Lamb is a definite up and coming author whose work is a treasure to
read and enjoy. Her character development is great as I came to care about
these two young men and their journey. I feel that this is just the beginning
that she has much more to share with her growing audience in the future. I
will await patiently to be sure.
Thank you Lily Adile Lamb for a forever keeper story to read many more
times in the future. I look forward to reading many more of your books.

An interesting fantasy tale which keeps you reading. It did take me a little time to get into the story but I did and enjoyed it. The only reason I took a star away is because the story could do with a little work to read more smoothly. Otherwise, a great read that I wound recommend. Great work.

Nameless One (Tales from Myth and Lore) immerses readers in a mystical woodland realm where the line between humans and magical creatures is strictly guarded. Its central figure—a half-breed known only as “Nameless One”—struggles against harsh punishment and social rejection after violating an ancient taboo. Despite enduring unimaginable cruelty, he clings to hope for acceptance and love. The vivid, forest-centered setting brims with enchantment, while the sentient elements and eloquent prose give the tale a timeless, fable-like quality. Beneath its fantastical veneer, Nameless One offers a heartfelt exploration of identity, resilience, and the power of compassion. It’s a beautifully told story that captures both the pain of exclusion and the healing magic of freedom.

This book had a great story but poor development, by which I mean that I really liked the premise and could have really liked the characters too, but unfortunately neither of them actually underwent any changes in the story. Things happened to them and they reacted to them, but I didn’t get the feeling that either character was fully-rounded or even really three-dimensional – they were just kind of ‘there.’ The length of the book didn’t bother me at all, as I love short stories and novellas, and the story didn’t feel rushed at all, but neither did it feel fully-told to me. A shame, because again, excellent premise, and I would have happily read more of the story if there had actually been more to it, like some kind of greater or more complex conflict, as opposed to what felt essentially nearly all like backstory. I also couldn’t help but notice the numerous punctuation errors and occasional sentence structure problems, which could easily have been resolved with a decent editor on board. Despite this, I enjoyed the read overall and would read more from this author in the future.

I loved reading this beautiful love story! This book has so many different elements in it. It has magic, pain, thrill, action, betrayal, fantasy, acceptance, compassion and most importantly LOVE!
A life of a genie ‘ NAMELESS ONE’ meeting his soulmate after a long hard life gives hope that everyone deserves love and should never stop looking for it! The characters are so well written that you start to care about what would happen to them as the story progresses.
I highly recommend this beautifully written book. Kudos to the author!

This is a cute story with a lot of love built into it. I liked the world building and the way the author let the reader insert their own imagination on the appearance of the people in the story. I take away one star because it is in need of a deep edit for grammar and flow.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tortured soul finds his soul mate!
Reviewed in Australia on February 6, 2025
Once again, Lily has drawn me into a magical world filled with love, drama, and the angst of prolonged suffering. This time it is a bullied winged man beast, so shunned by his community for being half human and half beast that they don’t deem him worthy of being given a name.

Then when he dares to connect with a human the elders condemn him to the life of a slave in a brass bottle until one of his masters (no spoilers) uses a wish to free him. Until then, the poor creature endures countless years of torture when summoned to fulfill three selfish wishes to each new master and returned to his bottle prison. Lily’s brilliantly graphic description of this torment of leaving and reentering the bottle will haunt your mind as you ponder how any living creature could survive such an ongoing ordeal without going mad.

Enter Faine, his human soulmate, and the love story and true healing begin. Set aside two or three hours for this one, as you will want to read it all in one sitting. Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A creative read with some traditional tales entwined
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 7, 2025
This book delivers an imaginative and moving twist on the genie-in-a-lamp myth. Instead of a traditional genie, The Nameless One features a dragon bound by a curse forced to grant the wishes of those who own him.

The story introduces Faine, a young man abandoned at birth because of his deformity, who finds solace and protection within an enchanted forest. Watched over by Sylvonna, the guardian of the woods, Faine’s life takes a dramatic turn when his destined companion arrives—a dragon shrouded in mystery and heartbreak.

What stood out to me was the emotional depth and originality woven into the plot. The characters feel alive and layered, particularly in the way the dragon communicates with Faine, building trust while keeping his true self hidden until the moment of truth. It’s a poignant and beautifully paced dynamic that adds so much heart to the story.

It is written in a very descriptive way which makes you imagination run free with visualisations.

    An intriguing and enjoyable read.
