    This genre is growing on me and Zoe Ashwood is part of the reason why. I'm stoked that characters we meet in book one (Trust the Wolf) are explored more here, and will continue to shine in different ways through the rest of the series.     Amazing sequel by Zoe Ashwood! Nik stole my heart from the first page! I love this series, the sides characters are amazing (Mat cracks me up!), and the connection between the main characters rings so true that I was sad when it ended! The book might take place during the Canadian winter, but it's HOT!

    I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "TRUTH OR BEAR" Claire Thibault daughter and princess pure-blood heir of the Thibault Clan and (aka) Masha Katchneva went undercover for the Shades SANA secrets service at Reid Maxwells compound to get info.
    Masha was caught entering the the server room she had been intimately involved with Nik Gorski who was Maxwells second and training officer of new recruits and on tbe opposite side of Masha he didn't know her true identity and was shocked to find out it was her who fooled him and was there to steal information.
    Reid Maxwell turned on Nik when he wouldn't continue the torture he was infflicting on Masha so he shot him and she created a deversion so he could escape.
    Nik family turned against him and his brother Ilya beat him up and called him a traitor his mother helped him even though she told him he gad to leave for his own saftey but she gave him the location where Masha aka Claire was being held.
    Nik went to his cousin Holly place she took him in he made an anonymous call to SANA to let them know where Claire was she was rescued but in pretty bad shape.
    Nik came to her room climbed the balcony he had to see her to know if anything what they had was real, leaving he noticed there were two of his kind learking around so he checked the armoured vehicle to be sure it wasn't tampered with because she would leaving to go home the next morning.
    Claire, Zach, Parker and Mat were altogether when they were hit by Maxwells crew just before they crossed the border and Nik came to their rescue once again but got shot in the process he was taken to the Thibault Village known to Maxwell and his crew as Bear Central he be something of a catch Maxwell's Cheif of Security one of the four highest ranking members of the Guard.
    This is the second book in this amazing, interesting, entertaing, mysterious, unique paranormal storyline full of different kinds of species, with twists that had you turning page after page right from the start this definitely should be read in order to truly know what's going on.
    I loved the hot steamy chemistry between Claire and Nik can they put their issues aside and work together this is absolutely a must read series you don't want to miss Zoe Ashwood was very creative in her writing and her characters I can't wait for the next book this series "MAKING HIM HOWL"
    I highly recommend to get this book so well worth the read it definitely won't disappoint such a unique tale about all kinds of different paranormals very captivating storyline.

    This is the second book in a PNR series, but does well as a stand alone book. Nikolai is a Lt. of the "Guard"; a collection of rebel and disenfranchised shifters. He joined to make life better for all shifters, not just the rich of SANA (Shifter Nation). So when Masha aka Claire, the new IT tech he has fallen for turns out to be a SANA spy he feels betrayed. Then finding his boss has beaten and tortured Masha, Nic refuses to prove his "loyalty" by joining in. Barely escaping, he is now considered a traitor by his family and friends.
    Claire expected to die from her "interrogation" - beaten, stabbed and shot, she's at her limit when she is rescued by her brother and his agents based on an anonymous tip. Could it be Nic loves her after all?!?
    This is Nic and Claire's story and it is a page turner. It is unique as it has shifters of all types of animals (bats, badgers, hyenas etc.). I loved the main characters as they were both strong and independent people from different backgrounds. I also enjoyed the many sub characters and their unique qualities. This world is complex, but very well developed. The plot is entertaining with many twists to keep your interest. This is my second book by this author, but I will be looking for more! I received an ARC from Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review. I would recommend this book to others.

    Whew, TRUTH OR BEAR was an angsty read and there was a lot of back and forth between Claire and Nik as they worked out their trust issues. I didn't enjoy this one as much as book 1, partly from the angst which was just personal preference, but also because there were some things that just didn't make sense. Nik was a top lieutenant in the Guard and yet everyone at SANA was acting like he wasn't a threat. As far they knew he could be a spy, a danger to their own people, he could steal information or something else that would be useful to the Guard, who knew.

    And Nik was either amazingly naïve or just really dumb about the organization he worked for if he didn't realize they were using terror tactics to get their way. He was suitably horrified when he realized how far Maxwell was taking things but he never seemed sorry for the part he played in the Guard's actions. I liked Claire and her strength and determination but it made no sense that the heir to the mighty Thibault clan would go undercover for such a dangerous mission. Overall, just too many plot holes.

    Claire and Nik’s story has all the drama. Whilst he is trying to move past the lies, Claire is doing her best to stay away and let Nik move on - but the pull is too strong.

    This book is absolutely amazing! I am a huge fan of how Zoe can make you Almost want to sit on the edge of your seat through the whole book. I didn’t want to put this book down! It starts off with a killer first chapter that’s only the beginning of an action pack book. But even though it’s action pack, the chemistry between Nikolai and Claire is very much present as well, and it’s Hot AF!

    Like the first book in the series, this book is about a shifter society living in the human world trying to live in peace and hide what they truly are for there protection and for the humans they live around. But one group of rebel shifter is making that mission really hard by going out of there way to purposely try and expose who they are and are hurting humans along the way.

    Nik is a solider in said rebel army and to him what he is fighting for is all he’s believed in and what he things is right. But after meeting a women who he believe could be is mate his world come crashing down around him when he realise said woman is the enemy.

    Claire knows she been caught and that she might not live to see her family again but she knew the risk of coming in to the undercover job, The only thing she wants now is to make sure the man she love is safe! This book is amazing and I highly recommend read it, it will not disappoint!

    This second book of the series is as well written as the first one. It tells more about the war between two shifter assemblies, the differences between the groups and how idealism can turn to radicalisme and crimes.
    And of course there is a love story.
    I am looking forward to the third book of this series.

    Have you started this smart, romantic shifter series yet? You really should. It's a breath of fresh air with its fast pace and sexy no-angst romances.
    In book two, we meet Nik and Masha. It's high action right from the start as Nik, a soldier in a group of rebel shifters, realises Masha, his lover, is a spy. He catches her red-handed stealing secrets, and can't help but hand her over to his boss.
    Poor Nik is heartbroken. More so when he finds out exactly who Masha is. Her real name of Claire should clue-in readers of book one, Trust the Wolf.
    I won't spoiler this but suffice to say that I loved every minute of it.
    The writing is gorgeous, there are touches of humour which make the story sparkle.
    Nik and Claire burn for each other, and their chemistry sets the page alight. The story involves escape, discovery, big threats from the evil rebel leader, and a happy ever after for the central couple.
    I really can't wait for book three.
