Jack Dylan is a reclusive Irish writer. A career in business and psychology provided raw material for his books. The Turkish Trap was the first and was followed quickly by more in the same style. The Russian Deal is a thriller set in the world of high tech software and big business. The Roman Dimension is a mystery set in the parallel universe where a different version of the world we know still features the Roman Empire. Dylan has also released a volume of short stories called Falling. All are available in Amazon books. His website includes a link to a free short story, along with information about the locations in The Turkish Trap.

This was an interesting experience but at times I found it hard to follow. The author kept jumping to different characters and scenes in the book and a times I had to go back to find out who it was that was doing the discoveries overall I read it to the end and it did finally make sense

An intriguing narrative which moves the reader effortlessly between different locations from the coasts of the Mediterranean to city-centre Dublin. Dylan introduces us to a rich cast of characters, each of them observed with originality and wry psychological insight. The great strength of his writing is his appeal to all the senses as he describes the various settings - particularly the experiences of sailing on the sun-drenched Turkish coast. There are some scenes of great original humour and space, too, for interesting comment on the social and political background to his story. A great read which I would thoroughly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turkey, London, Dublin, sailing - what more do we need than a spot of intrigue?

Dylan's debut novel does not disappoint: set variously in Turkey, London and Dublin, the realistically portrayed characters bring the story to life. From the tense beginning and then throughout, I was captivated . Having been lucky enough to sail in some of the same parts of Turkey as our protagonist Alex, I was instantly brought back to happy memories, as Dylan skillfully wove descriptions of not just the sights, but also the sounds and smells characteristic of the region into the story. Dylan's triumph comes when the interwoven threads of the story from three different countries are delicately brought together to a coherent whole at the end of the book. I can't wait to see what we get to read next from this talented new author.
