About the author

BL Maxwell grew up in a small town listening to her grandfather spin tales about his childhood. Later she became an avid reader and after a certain vampire series she became obsessed with fanfiction. She soon discovered Slash fanfiction and later discovered the MM genre and was hooked.
Many years later, she decided to take the plunge and write down some of the stories that seem to run through her head late at night when she’s trying to sleep.
BL Maxwell loves to hear from readers who enjoy her stories, so feel free to reach out at any of these links:

- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2021BL Maxwell proves to be the first to the finish line with getting her contribution to the Malicious Gods: Egypt series to the audio format. Tutu was an Egyptian god worshipped by ordinary people all over Egypt during The Late Period which existed from 664 BC until 332 BC. Tutu was placed in a position of power over demons and it was his role to slay them. Originally the protector of tombs, Tutu was stated to have given protection from demons, giving longer life and protecting people from the Netherworld.
In the writer's incarnation, Tutu shares a symbiotic relationship with Tommy Smythe who comes from a long line of human demon slayers that can be traced back to the time when Tutu was worshipped in Egypt. Every generation, a member is asked to serve as the vessel of Tutu to expedite the fight against demons. Tommy accepted the honor when he was 18-years-old. He and his sister Lola are the last of their line, right at a time when the fighting against demons is at its fiercest. Chasing down a water demon who kills a couple of humans, Tommy prevents it from killing the third. It is at this point Tommy discovers Kit Nelson.
Kit Nelson's upbringing is far from ideal being raised by parents who belonged to a demon-worshipping cult. It was their desire to offer Kit as a sacrifice in becoming a vessel the demon Rerek. His parents among others are killed during the ritual but Kit is marked and released for future capturing. He is befriended by a demon hunter who teaches him how to protect and defend himself but his motives seem to benefit Rerek. As luck would have it, Rerek becomes interested in reclaiming Kit after he has warranted the protection of Tutu incarnate.
In this urban fantasy story, writer BL Maxwell gives readers one outstanding piece of realism--Kit Nelson's unwillingness to trust others! The author carves out totally credible actions and reactions for Kit that make him a plausible yet brave character. That he has a bit of fight in him is laudable, given past betrayals from those who should or claim to care for him. Then the writer allows him to share his feeling of loneliness, giving the audience a credible reason for him taking a chance on Tommy and his sister Lola. The character Tommy is larger-than-life even without the god Tutu. And Lola is a delightful portion of enjoyment and excitement. Ms. Maxwell's story checks all of the necessary boxes for a truly remarkable tale and narrator Allen Jeffries renders an incredible performance for this excellent story.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2021I was so excited to see that this book was actually paranormal, and that BL Maxwell was the author. But this book just didn’t interest me. Tommy/Tutu went from confused about having emotions to suddenly being full of love a bit too suddenly. And where was the proof that Kit’s friend wasn’t honest, I just didn’t get it…
Was Kit’s great destiny accomplished? If so, that was quite lackluster… Isn’t Kit still blood bound to the demon? Has anything really changed? And after all is said and done, if things had been resolved, should/would I still be having these questions?
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2021This wasn’t in line with the rest of the series.
Honestly it’s so different from the other two books I’ve read in this series.
It’s low steam, low romance, insta love but not.
It just felt lacking and I hate that because I expected more, especially because B.L.’s Ghost of a Chance was my first paranormal book ever and I loved it, and Tutu wasn’t on par with that.
I enjoyed the characters camaraderie, especially at the end but I just felt like there were chunks of story missing.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2021This "romance" novel has no sex in it. But is a good story of demons and demon hunters. It is richly descriptive and well paced. I like a slow burn as much as the next guy, but was disappointed by the lack of sexy times.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2021I’m a huge fan of BL Maxwell and her wonderful stories. She typically writes low angst, comfort reads with endearing and romantic men so I was very surprised to see her participating in a dark romance multi-author lineup. I was very hesitant about picking up this book so I messaged the author to ask if there were any triggers. Luckily, Tutu didn’t have any triggers for me because it’s low angst, mild romance, and reads more like a paranormal story. Tutu is Book 3 in the Malicious Gods: Egypt multiverse but can be read as a stand-alone like the other books. This story is about an Egyptian god who shares the same body as his human host (Tommy). They meet Kit one night when demons are hunting Kit for his blood. I always enjoy reading BL Maxwell’s books especially the epilogues because she does a wonderful job of wrapping up the story in a nice conclusion for her readers. I hope the author considers writing more paranormal stories :)
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2021The story felt New Adult and wasn’t dark. The other two were very intense. I didn’t connect with the main characters. Some backstory for Blake would have been nice.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2021Nice story! It’s a very interesting take on gods and demon hunters. There’s plenty of demons and action. There’s also a budding romance between Kit and Tommy/Tutu. Not a ton of heat, but the story is great without it. I can’t wait to read the whole anthology!

3.0 out of 5 stars Holds promise
Ideally, I think this needs 100 more pages to really do it justice. There's a lot in here with demon hunting and Tutu, also Kit's history and Blake
