Twin Piques Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 173 ratings

Forensic accountant Sloane Tobin and kooky pet psychic Willa may have the same face, but that’s the only thing these identical twins have in common.

How she can read the hearts and minds of animals has always been a mystery to Willa, and her rotten luck with men is equally baffling. Although she’s been looking for “The One” for what feels like forever (a teenage marriage to a French mime and dating a guy named Spider seemed like good ideas at the time!), optimistic Willa refuses to give up on love. When she meets Brody, the handsome rose expert hired to save her grandmother’s garden, she’s instantly smitten, but why does he keep sending her mixed signals? Does he return her feelings, or is their attraction all in her fanciful head?

Unlike her twin, Sloane has zero interest in romance. Her passion is her job, where she uses her gift for numbers to take down slimy embezzlers and asset-hiding spouses. When she’s assigned two high profile cases, Sloane feels confident the promotion she’s been angling for is within her grasp. But will her plan to climb the corporate ladder be thwarted by difficult clients, her co-worker-with-benefits, or – most surprisingly of all – her own sister? And how’s she supposed to stay focused on the drama at work when her childhood friend, Gav, moves in next door and the spark between them becomes impossible to ignore?

To get what they both want, can Willa and Sloane band together and rely on each other’s strengths? Or will their differences drive them apart once and for all?

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

An avid reader and writer, Tracie Banister has been scribbling stories since she was a child, most of them featuring feisty heroines with complicated love lives like her favorite fictional protagonist Scarlett O'Hara. Her work was first seen on the stage of her elementary school, where her 4th grade class performed an original holiday play she penned. (Like all good divas-in-the-making, she also starred in and tried to direct the production.)

Tracie’s dreams of authorial success were put on the backburner when she reached adulthood and discovered that she needed a "real" job in order to pay her bills. Her career as personal assistant to a local entrepreneur lasted for 12 years. When it ended, she decided to follow her bliss and dedicate herself to writing full-time. She is the proud winner of the 2017 Independent Press Award (Romantic Comedy) and a Bronze Medal in the 2017 Readers’ Favorite Awards (Chick Lit).

Although Tracie swore she’d never write a sequel to any of her books, the character of Izzy Alvarez, who first appeared in In Need of Therapy, would not be denied. Izzy As Is is Tracie’s fifth novel, and she hopes readers enjoy this return trip to Miami.

Be prepared for a double hitter in this lovely tale! First off, previously I had read In Need of Therapy by Tracie Banister, and my interest was peaked as soon as I found out about this story. Tracie Banister's comedic timing shines through again as there were too many moments to count where I was laughing as I read along.

Readers get to dive into the world's of Willa and Sloane Tobin, identical twins, but entirely different minds. Willa is free-spirited and easy going and even though her career might be a little off to most people, I really liked how she was comfortable with people "not getting her".

Sloane is the left brained numbers career focused sister with no time for relationships, whereas Willa's had her heart broken too many times to count. The compassion of each of the sisters for each other was really endearing and sweet. Each sister had their positive and negative traits, which made them both real.

Banister breaks the book up in to chapters told from each sister's point of view, and I really enjoyed this. There were several twists and surprises in this story and I kept sliding my finger to the next page as I found it very difficult to put down.

If you are looking for a great story, with swoonable moments, twists and turns, and plenty of laughs, grab this one right away!

Highly entertaining, with enough heft to balance the fluff. the author has great insights into human nature. A little too much sexy stuff for my taste, but that's just a personal preference. Inarguably well written, with great dialogue and descriptions. All of her books would make good movies.

It took me a long time to read Tracie Banister's latest novel. Published in January of 2015, it's been sitting in my TBR pile, screaming for attention. I loved Tracie's other novels and this one was no different. I only regret not reading it sooner. Tracie's books are always well-researched - so much so, that I wonder how she has the time to write her stories. The careers that she chooses for her characters are never boring - and these two are no different: a forensic accountant and a pet psychic; a rose gardener and a graphic novelist/artist. I learned enough by reading this book, to know exactly how to take care of my roses this fall!

I fell in love with the characters, instantly. Willa, whose optimistic outlook on life made me smile the entire way through the book. Sloane, whose no-nonsense, direct approach to life had me reading her parts quickly just to see what would happen next. I rooted for Gav and Brody throughout the book and honestly felt like slapping Sloane once or twice for being so obtuse. This is what I enjoy most about Tracie's books - her characters. They are well-developed, well-balanced and memorable. They stay with me long after I've finished reading the books. I read this one over a month ago and I'm still thinking about Sloane and Willa and wondering what they're up to now.

First of all, I could not stop laughing! Such a great read from beginning to end! It's a mixture of sweet, sexy and sassy all in one!

Sloane is the very serious forensic accountant and Willa is a sweet pet psychic who loves all animals and will drop anything to help a furry friend in need! These two couldn't be anymore different if they tried...

The both seem to have terrible luck (and choices) in men. These men never treat them right. There issues with men dated back to their father who left there mom to raise them all on her own. Will seemed to move on from that issue, Sloane on the other hand has never gotten over their father leaving them and that has followed her into her personal life as well as professional demeanor.
Will on the other hand, you is constantly looking for the love of her life and she believes that he is out there!

Sloane is looking to climb the corporate ladder has quickly as possible and that is where she devotes all of her time and energy. Will is a little more care free and goes with the flow each day.

Gav has been their best friend since they were younger and has always been there for the girls whenever they needed him. He has always had a soft spot for Sloane, but the timing has never been right for the two of them, but maybe that will change?

There are many bumps along the way for the sisters, you never know what direction this story is going to go!

I love anything written by Tracie Banister! I find her writing enchanting, her characters charming and her story lines filled with just the right amount of drama. And I never tire of her signature wit! Twin Piques is the delightful tale of twin sisters who could not be more different. Willa is the definition of a free spirit, while Sloane has her feet firmly planted on the ground. Their personality traits were implanted in every aspect of their lives, from their chosen careers (Pet Psychic vs. Forensic Accountant) to their love interests (a gorgeous Rosarian vs. a sexy Graphic Novelist, who also happens to be the boy next door). I thoroughly enjoyed watching these sisters help each other through misadventures and heartache, thereby infusing a small part of each into the other. It often takes a group effort to triumph in life!

Once you pick this book up, you'll have a hard time putting it down. As with all of Banister's books, beware - if you read Twin Piques in public, you WILL snort laugh at least once. Her dialogue is hilarious! A great read from beginning to end.

A fabulous read, I loved the characters and everything that kept happening to keep this story going at a solid pace. Willa's character is my favourite in the story, she's special. There are so many twists and turns, I don't know Tracie Bannister kept it all on track. This is a story I didn't want to finish.

This is the first book I've read by Tracie Banister, and it won't be the last. A very unique story, told from two separate points-of-view by totally different twin sisters--one a genuine pet psychic and the other a corporate forensic accountant. Absolutely bursting with liveliness, laughs, color and unique plot twists (and no: there wasn't one single cliched twin-switching episode).

I do admit I got a little lost by the vast cast of characters parading through the pages, non-stop--not just people but pets and clients too. (Well, okay: Clients are people. And there may have been a plant or two in there.) But I couldn't put the story down. It just kept getting better and better and more suspenseful as the stakes went up for each twin.

There was one stunner of a plot twist, and as for the ending, it was not only truly unique, but absolutely perfect, utterly entertaining, beautifully ironic and I wish I could tell you all the things I loved about it, but I'd rather you have as much fun as I did, being surprised by it.

I waited a long time for this book to come out, as I really enjoyed Ms Banister's other two books. I loved the premise of the pet psychic. Very novel! The fact Willa could understand what the pets are saying was fab and I loved her sweet friendship/relationship with Brody. Her twin. Sloane, being her polar opposite was absolute genius, and I didn't see coming the twists regarding their father. It also nicely dealt with why Sloane was so prickly. The sub-plot with Sloane's client and the family ring and how various characters were linked to each other was unexpected and a nice surprise, introducing an extra element to this essentially pure chicklit novel. I didn't see coming at all the fate of Sloane's 'friend with benefits' and was gobsmacked. There's a slimeball, a pampered spoilt brat Daddy's girl, as well as a wonderful best friend (male) for both twins. But how does he really fit into the picture? Lots of great characters, great scenes, some laugh-out-loud moments, and all ends nicely tied up. A winner. 4.5 stars from me

My first novel by Tracie Banister and the one thing I regret: how long it sat in my Kindle queue before I read it! I LOVE the two characters she created. Both were well written and fully developed characters; not just passive agents in their fates. The zest of life from Willa and the go get 'em nature of Sloane was a perfect balance. I think I experienced just about every known emotion while reading their story: giddiness, joy, frustration, surprise, disappointment, anger and yes - even a few swoons. Gav *heavy female sigh* Also, the comic geek in me got a bit of a nerd thrill at the Convention scene ending. Having squeezed into one of those costumes myself once, I feel ya girl! I will definitely be checking out more of Banister's writing, and I can't help but wonder, and by that I mean "beg," if she will revisit these wonderful characters once again.
