Years ago, I fell in love with a man named Maximilian Grant - tall, smooth talking, handsome as hell Maximilian Grant.
He was my everything— a man who could do no wrong— but then he did the one thing he promised he’d never do: he broke my heart.

Now, nearly seven years later, I’m happily married to a man who has completely changed my life...but with my health hanging in the balance, I often wonder what his future entails, because I know there is a possibility that he’ll have to live without me.

John, my husband, is the love of my life, and I have never questioned our love...that is until my past comes knocking at the door.

Every girl has that one guy—the one whom she can’t seem to forget or completely let go of, no matter how toxic the relationship was, or how bad it ended. Well, this story is a little different.

This is the story of how Maximilian Grant went from being my toxic first love, to the man who ultimately saves my life... and, trust me, this will not play out the way you think it will.

"It is an education on the human heart, the way it works and loves and forgives and endures. It had me yearning for more, it made me think and feel for each character. It is stupendously crafted and unforgettable!" -
Chele, 4TheLoveofBooks

"Some people like stories that are light and don't dive too deep into our minds and hearts, I am the opposite. I need the ones that tell a story of how someone not just fell in love, but I need all the life trials that comes along with those great loves. Shanora gives us this in Until The Last Breath!" -

Oh wow, what a memorable story Shanora wrote!
I have sooooo much to say, but still not sure how to say it.Shanora has always been an author where I would push myself out of comfort zones when it comes to reading certain tropes in romance. When I learned about this one, I was kind of at ease because I thought this book would be one where it wouldn't challenge what I normally don't want to read about.I was so wrong, plus hello, that would not be the Shanora we love and adore. She would not make this story easy for us, but she would make it memorable and meaningful.I truly did love this, but I also didn't at the same time. And I don't mean that in a bad way. She gave us the warnings, even though I glossed over them and that it would be okay. You won't. My goodness, you will not be okay.I'm feeling things from both sides of the coin and maybe that's the beauty of this heartbreaking story. Shanora pulled different things and weaved this story, it'll keep you guessing and the anticipation of what's to come is an absolute killer.Until the Last Breath is definitely Shanora's best work yet. Grab your tissues, any comfort food because you will need it. I honestly cannot recommend this to everyone because I know this is a read that many I know personally will have a hard time with. If you do take a chance on this one, I don't think you'll regret it at all. However, I wish you all the luck cause I have a book hangover.

I thought I knew where this was going.... but I didn't. Was definitely very teary eyed at the end.

Get ready for ALL THE TEARS! But also ALL the gratitude for health, joy, and love. We just can't be thankful enough, can we? This is literally all I can say without certainly giving away a spoiler on accident. Just know, Shanora Williams’ Until the Last Breath is a great read and it will take you on a rollercoaster that loops your emotions round and round. There are many intense subjects discussed that could spark differing opinions with readers which makes it a pretty perfect pick for a buddy read or book club selection. Lots to discuss!

Note: When I first began reading this book, I wasn’t entirely sure it was for me. I don’t like cheating and I don’t care for love triangles either… BUT there is no reason to fear because neither of these are in this book even though the beginning kinda sorta gives that impression in my opinion. JUST KEEP READING! (and go grab some kleenex)

A love story that will leave a lasting impression. This one is going to hurt a little, but it’s worth the pain.

They fell in love, but he wasn’t her forever. That would come later. They would remain a part of each other’s lives as friends. He would fulfill his promise so that she could get her dream come true.

Shannon’s life has never been easy. Abandoned by their mother, she raised her sister. She worked hard to provide and that’s how she met Max. He was a bartender at her job. He was the playboy every girl wanted to get with, but he pursured her. They lasted until life tore them apart.

Her forever would appear on a rainy night, while she stood next to her broken down car, on the side of the road. John would be the man that would do everything to protect her. Her life was happy until she she became sick. Now her happily ever after has an end date.

This story was heart wrenching. Shannon is coming to terms with leaving her loved ones behind, while they all struggle with letting her go. She’s fighting for her life, even though her disease is robbing her more every day. Her hope is gone, so she’s trying to live as much as she can until she can’t. John wants to hold on and never let go, while Max wants to give her a life worth living.

A story you won’t forget. This was an emotional journey with a collision between the past and the present.

I have mixed feelings this book. It was billed as a romance, but I think it was more a mini biography. The book told the story of Shannon's battle with a debilitating lung disease. She was just married and her new husband, John, who was doing everything to keep her alive, but Shannon was tired of fighting and just wanted to live the rest of her minimal days not in the hospital. Enter Max, an ex-boyfriend and friend. He wants to help, but he contradicts John's wishes. Shannon and Max had quite a complicated and intense love, but controversial choices on both their parts destroyed their relationship and their love was not enough to repair and heal. The book's story was bittersweet and I did enjoy it as a fictional read, but I didn't think it was a romance.

After reading the summary and the first few chapters I already knew where this story was going to go. I however thought that he would be the one to donate. I think working as a provider in healthcare made the diagnosis and health aspects of the story a little annoying just because that’s what I do on the daily so I know how things go. However, that does not take from the story or make it seem as if the story was not good because it was. Again, I was able to guess where this was headed, but it still was an exceptional story.

I was in a reading slump and Williams got me out of it. This is the 2nd book I read by her in less than 2 weeks. This book tugged at my heart strings the entire time, I could not stop reading it. Williams had me guessing the whole time while keeping me interested. All of the characters in this book were well thought out: Shannon, Max, John, Tessa! I can’t recommend it more.

Overall great read, I cried real tears at the end. My only critique is defining the characters early on. I was almost half way through the book with a mental image of Max only to then learn he’s the opposite. However the is typical of Shanora.

Shannon had an awful childhood. She supposed she may have been waiting for life to get better. Then she met gorgeous Max at one of her jobs. In fact, he saved that job and soon after they fell fast and hard. Alas, they weren't meant to be. Because Max was not her soulmate. No, that title goes to her now beloved husband, John. It's John who pieces her back together, is there for her at her worst, and who will be there long after she's gone, which, won't be long now according to her doctors. Yep, she's terminal, and she's accepted it. Now she just has to get her beloved to accept it.

But what if her past collides with her future? What if Max and John come face to face? What does Shannon tell John? What if Max wants back in her life? Now, when she's at her lowest point? Does she allow the light he always brings, to make her life bright again? Even while her husband watches and worries?

Let me tell you people...have a box or three of tissues at the ready before reading this one - trust me, you will need them! This author has never skimped on the angst before, but here it's a different type, a more cry your eyes out while gulping for air kind of angst. And I loved every last word of this story of three people. No, there's no cheating. There's not a triangle or anything forbidden like some of her previous (beloved of mine) writing, just three people and the journey they take. The beautiful, painful, incredibly heartwrenching journey.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poderia ser melhor

I laughed and I cried. I am glad Shannon got her lungs and a chance to live her life with John. But it was heartbreaking that Max lost his life for it to happen. It certainly makes you stop and realize that anything can happen in life
