Reinventing the whole meaning to good sci-fi!
I was truly taken by the book! Not have read previous books to understand who all of the characters in the story were it took some time to get into it! But I overlooked that and just read it! Amazing story! Enough so that purchased first two in series to understand who all the people are and why they are! Looking forward to #7 but in the mean time will devour all previous books by Chris! BTW, if you haven't read "Rewind 717" do yourself a favor and read it! Different than this series but very very good! That's how I got introduced to Chris!

Christian Kallias is not just a very talented writer, he also created this video. It can't be easy trying to be a full time writer and pitch man. Hope you take the time to read this series. If you do, you won't be disappointed. It's a great read that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2018I'll consider this for the entire series and won't repeat it for each "chapter" in the long story that is the series (which is not yet finished as far as I can tell).
The late Jack Chalker ("Well of Souls") used to talk (on Compuserve, decades ago<G>) about writing very long novels that were converted to a long series of smaller books by the publisher. This is a single story stretched out very far. With pauses between to catch your breath.
It is an interesting read. But the story is far from finished in the last volume (so far) in this series.
Sometimes readers like a story to end before they spend weeks and weeks reading the serial.only to find that the latest still has a cliff hanger at the end of it.
Yet the imagination of the author can;t do that because the flow in his/her mind won;t permit it because of the scope of the original paln0..
What to do?
Well...that is the question, eh? And write out the series without diverting into others in between, is the answer, I suppose. And that;'s all one can do
I've been a tech writer and know there's a very large difference between being able to write and being able to tell a story in your writing. Mastering that explains the wealth accumulated by Michener, Clancy, Ludlum, and many, many others.
I hope that Kallias can join that group, well the sub group with Bova, Leinster, and others.

Titles in advance so I can read the series up to the latest book available which at this point is BOOK 8 ... if you aren't reading this series you are missing some great writing and a outstanding take on the future
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2019While I view the Universe in Flames series as 5-star Sci-Fi, I thought this particular sequel was a little too "busy" trying to marshall all possible forces to confront the unleashed race of Furies. It certainly could not "stand alone" as a separate story for someone who had not already read books 1-5. Having said that, it was well written and entertaining with its combination of aliens, humans, Olympian gods, Scandanavian gods, and artificial intelligence robots. With so many "expeditions" in progress, it was a little difficult to follow sometimes as the author would jump from one to the other and back. While Chase and his friends had several successes in this sequel, there were also setbacks (Gaia 2, failure to finish off Miseo, and inability to convince Oryn who her real father is). Overall it was a great continuation of an amazing story.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2018I love all of the books in the Universe in Flames and look forward to reading each installment. My only regret is that they will end. The characters are very believable.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2020More of the same, unfortunately. Excessive fight scenes, emotions run wild with much tears and wringing of hands, more powerful enemies showing up just when things are almost resolved. Read the first paragraph of a section to get an idea of what's happening, skip to the last paragraph for the outcome. Repeat. You'll miss a few fireballs and energy blasts, or maybe some gnashing of teeth, but the story will go on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Persistence, Defiance, Obliteration
Excellent Read. Great continuation of the story, quickly becoming one of my favorite book series, and happy to see there are a few more volumes waiting to be consumed. The feelings captured by favorite movies games and series from the past have had bits and pieces incorporated into the whole. Well worth your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another thrill ride!
I've been waiting for this one impatiently, and it was well worth it.
Another great book, one that sees a lot of new twists and turns as well
as juicy backstory reveals. The new female Fury character is awesome. I
don't know how many books this series will end up getting, but if the
quality keeps getting better with each new book like it has so far: I
hope it lasts for a very long time. What an ending... makes me want to
read the next book right now!! BTW that next book date tease at the end
hasn't gone unnoticed...

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive reading
Having read the previous five books in the series I found number six to be highly paced and very entertaining. I'm glad to see that more characters are being developed and more twists and turns in the saga! If you like none stop, many layered, easy reading, space action, then try this series. You might find yourself pleasantly surprised!! My only problem was the writing style was full of American colloquialisms and slang, how alien species would adopt such language in a matter of weeks is beyond belief.
- mickReviewed in the United Kingdom on July 23, 2017
4.0 out of 5 stars Has room for improvement.
i have read all 6 books to date & although they are obviously good enough to keep me getting the next book I have one reservation about the way they are written and that is that I don't feel any connection to any of the characters in the books. When one of the major characters dies there is no feeling of sadness or happiness if it's a bad guy. Because of that you are not really rooting for anyone so the book loses what is normally an important part of any "really good book"
In short it's a good storyline but the characters leave me cold.
