Unscripted Kindle Edition
There’s always a sort of symmetry to the universe, something that Faith Sinclair, UNCOMPROMISING, take-no-prisoners executive producer of the hit TV show Modern Women, found out the hard way one day when, in a fit of pique, she grabbed her meddling boss by the...you know (just to make a point, you understand), and the next thing she knew, she was out on her...you know.
But Faith refuses to give up just yet. Without her at the helm, Modern Women’s ratings hit the skids, which is UNACCEPTABLE. Faith decides to do the UNTHINKABLE: track down Alex, their former white-hot male lead who had walked away from TV at the peak of his popularity to be a movie star. If Faith can convince Alex to return, she’ll save the show and get her job back. All she has to do is keep her stupid crush on Alex under control.
There’s one UNEXPECTED problem, though: Alex’s film career fizzled, and now he’s hiding out, “studying his craft” at a small community college miles away from Hollywood. Faith can’t get anywhere near him, thanks to Alex’s UNAPOLOGETIC watchdog, Mason Mitchell, head of theater and film studies, who’s adamant about making sure Alex retains his privacy.
Mason is stubborn, but so is Faith. Mason is also hotter than the desert campus in August, but Faith doesn’t care about that...much. Her goal is to do an end run around the infuriating professor to get to Alex.
Then Mason makes her an UNCONVENTIONAL offer—a job teaching screenwriting. Will Faith accept because it will get her access to Alex...or get her closer to Mason?
None of this was part of the plan, but Faith is about to find out that life can be pretty exciting when it’s UNSCRIPTED.

"I loved this story so much. The realness of the characters that Ms. Denker brings to the reader is so incredible....She gives you a book you don't want to put down--it's that good. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. Reminds me a lot of Jill Shalvis and Kristan Higgins but in her own right so much better! If you haven't read her books you are really missing out!" - Community Bookstop
"This was an absolute fun read! Lots of smart, witty humor in the writing." - Ripe for Reader
"Unscripted was an absolutely fun story to read, it had quirky wit and humor and a subtle romance that will satisfy chick lit fans....With the story set in Hollywood, there is enough drama, crazy antics, romance, and laugh-out-loud moments that will keep you thoroughly entertained!" - Jersey Girl Book Reviews
"A fun and sassy read....A fabulous chick-lit novel with just enough romance and Hollywood to keep things interesting." - Amie's Reviews

About the author

Jayne Denker divides her time between working hard to bring the funny in her closed-door, low-spice romantic comedies, raising a son who’s way too clever for his own good, and wrangling two demented (but in a good way) felines. When she’s not hard at work on another novel, the social media addict can usually be found frittering away startling amounts of time on Facebook (Jayne Denker Author), Twitter (@JDenkerAuthor), and Instagram (@JayneDenkerAuthor). Visit her there, or at her blog, JayneDenker.com, and tell her to get back to work!

- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2014How many books begin with a woman grabbing her arrogant boss' private parts? I'm a huge fan of Ms. Denker's and the start of this book only made me appreciate her writing even more. Faith struggled to become a successful TV creator/producer without enlisting the help of her mother, an iconic director, only to be undone by the aforementioned gaffe. Desperate to save her show, her career and her pride, she embarks on a journey to track down the actor whom she is convinced can fix everything. Barreling in without a real plan, she finds herself faced with a new love interest in the form of a sexy college professor, the unexpected chance of having a better relationship with her distant mother and the realization that things are not always as they seem.
Ms. Denker's writing is engaging and witty, resulting in my complete addiction to her stories. Faith charmed me from the first page with her determination, sarcastic demeanor and choice language. Her love interest, Professor Mason Mitchell, handles her with just the right combination of charisma and strength. Their interactions are fraught with passion, tenderness and plenty of steam. With her usual knack for adding a charming cast of characters, Ms. Denker rounded out her story with a number of hilarious sub plots. My favorite involves her highly amusing British step-brother who just happens to empty her bank account.
Another excellent story from Ms. Denker. Be prepared to laugh out loud often!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2015This is the third book of Ms. Denker's that I've read and she has yet to disappoint. A little more 'in your face' than her sweet, small-town Marsden series, Unscripted is a funny look at some behind the scenes of the Hollywood TV scene. From the first paragraph, I was hooked. Seriously, one of the best first paragraphs I've ever read. A closed-door romance that will have you cheering for Faith. This is romantic comedy and chick lit at its finest. Ms. Denker is a go-to author for me, and Unscripted is a must read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2015First of all, this held my interest and I read it in one day so that's a plus. It was fun, and funny, and I liked Faith for most of the book. She was a tv producer who made some questionable choices and ended up co-teaching a class at a community college. Mason, the professor, seemed almost too good to be true at times. Unfortunately, I felt like I was reading a backstory for a tv show, complete with a season finale cliffhanger.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2014This was my first time reading this author's work and I can sum up what I thought about it in five words:
I AM NOW A FAN.
I loved the book! It was funny, engaging, well-written, and just entertaining as heck. My face was glued to my phone as I read most of it at work yesterday. I loved the inside/behind-the-scenes perspective of the running of a television show, and by a woman, no less. I loved Faith, even though her stubborness seemed to be a tiny bit to her detriment at times. (And there is no WAY I wouldn't have called the police if someone did to me what Jamie did to her, relative or no relative. But that's just me).
It was cool seeing how Faith and Mason's relationship developed from their random meeting in the studio parking lot. The kinda-sorta-but-not-really triangle between Faith, Mason, and Alex is the tug I know I've experienced myself of what I think I want and what I actually need. I thought Faith would find some reason to pull back once she and Mason got together, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Was I crazy about the ending? Ehh...it was cool. Not a let-down but not mind-blowing (which might not have even been the goal). I guess some might call it predictable but I won't use that word (which, as an author is kind of a kick in the gut). It was a nice ending, and there's nothing wrong with that. I wasn't disappointed.
I will DEFINITELY be reading more of Ms. Denker's works. She's awesome.
