Great book. I loved it.
After her father's death, Meghan has to take over the family business, the bar that her father ran since her mother's death when she was a child. It's hard to deal with her loss, and she moves away from Jason, with whom she had a secret relationship.
Jason understands that she needs space to overcome, and gives it to her, a detail she appreciates. But he can't stand being without her and goes to see her to resume their relationship.
At the same time, Meghan needs to reform the bar in order to participate in events in the city and asks Jason for help. And she reminds him that, as long as they are working together, their relationship will be strictly professional. But they couldn't be apart from each other.
Meghan is reunited with her ex husband, whom she left because he was abusive, and discovers that he is the one who makes things difficult for her to participate in these events. She, along with Jason, suspects her ex is not only legally boycotting her, but also attacking her.
I haven't read any of the author's previous books. It's part of a series, but it's not hard to follow Jason and Meghan's story, and I want to read other couples' stories.
I loved Jason and Megan. He is bossy, as Meghan says, but he respects her, gives her space when she needs it, has always listened to her, and is always there for her. Like her when he needs her after losing one of his friends. And, like him, she is also stubborn, she likes to do things her own way.
The two have gone from a purely sexual relationship to a much deeper relationship. They have fallen in love without realizing it, and it's hard for them to have a serious conversation about what they are and what they want for the future. The two of them have been shying away from having a relationship for a variety of reasons. Before they were not prepared, and now they are.
I also liked the secondary characters very much. I loved Ryan, and I want to know more about him. And Dan, his current relationship, and his relationship with Jason.
I recommend it.
I received a complimentary ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2019I enjoyed this romantic suspense with the couple that cannot quite keep their hands off of each other. Then there are all of the mysterious incidents at her pub that threaten its existence. The sexy scenes sizzled and the chemistry between them was hot. I was kept guessing until the end. I enjoyed it and am ready for more in this series!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2018When Meghan’s father became ill, she needs to focus on saving the family business, Foley’s Public House, and didn’t have the time or the energy for her friends with benefits relationship with Jason. Now that her father has passed away the responsibility becomes hers but outside forces are making her efforts to make the business viable difficult and the one person who can help her is Jason.
Jason respected that she needed to focus on her father and the pub. He is more than willing to help her renovate the business and even though she wants to keep their relationship strictly professional just being close to her causes the heat between them to ramp up. He is not about to let this second chance slip away and now all he has to do is convince her.
These two are perfect together as Meghan is independent, determined and thinks she needs to do everything on her own, but Jason is determined to show her that accepting help is not a weakness and that he will always be there to support her. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2019Meghan is trying to plan a big event to help her struggling bar. She used to have a friends with benefits with Jason but she had to call it off to assist her father when he got ill. Now she has to make sure this event got off to a great start to help her stay in business. But problem after problem occurs so she seeks help from Jason. They both agree to keep things professional but they just can't control their attraction. But who is causing all these problems and will they be able to work around all the issues (both personal and work related). Great story with a bit of suspense which I really liked. Their relationship was able to develop and you can tell they are falling in love rather than just having sex. Enjoyable story that I definitely recommend.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2018I have mixed feelings about this book. I thought it was well written, had great characters, and SUPER steamy scenes- but I felt lost half of the time since I have not read the first book.
I absolutely love standalone books that have different people in each one, but this is one of the first times that I started a series in the middle and was confused for about 50% of the time with the characters.
OTHER THAN THAT…..
I really enjoyed the story. Like I said, the characters are super relatable and the author wrote them perfectly. I also liked the backstory- two friends that have been hooking up…. but is that all? Could they be more? Also so major bad stuff is going down, will that push them together or pull them apart?
I give this a 4 out of 5 for not including much backstory, but I do recommend this book for people that have read the first one because it was a good read!
PS: I received this book for free as an ARC in return for my honest feedback.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2019The well written storyline and the well detailed characters kept my interest throughout the entire book! I look forward to reading more from this author!
