ALL the 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟’s!!!!! It’s so hard to review these books without blurting out spoilers! Matt and Zeke are both lovely men and I adore them. Their journey toward self acceptance and discovering who they are and finding love together is a beautiful thing. There are so very many emotions evoked for me throughout. I adore Matthew and I want to Marry Dieter! (Yes, I know I have competition!) I especially appreciated how this story depicted many issues we all faced during the covid pandemic. I highly recommend you dive into these books. I will be waiting anxiously for Vin’s next book!

Matt is an editor and artist in London with a Black, straight roommate named Zeke and a sudden opportunity to provide major art for a sexy, rich Dane named Deiter. Matt's very sexually active, but really ready for long-term love. Yet almost none of that turns into what you'd expect (except for the art): Sex comes early, hot times turn to friendship, and friends to, well, hot times, and then.... And Matt has to deal with his desire to wear "traditionally female" clothing, which Zeke understands and supports. Friends and family drop in and out, and a surprise pops up about halfway through that tosses a different kind of angst into the mix.
Vin George writes with a clean and easy style that pulls you through. This is the first of a two-book series that carries the main couple through their developing relationship. Definitely worth a read.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book has all the feels. Two best friends who adore each other falling in love, realizing how deep it is, and working to maintain it, inspite external conflicts. I love how the author peopled his story with amazing supporting characters. I don't do spoilers. I do day when the writing is excellent, the story gripping. I read it in a single day. I couldn’t put it down.Off to buy book 2. Buy it. It's awesome.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI read this book in November and fell in love with Mattie and Zeke immediately. As the story progressed and I understood some of Matt’s daily struggles I felt a lot of his anxiety about things I’ve never once given a second thought to in my daily life. What I loved about this book were the issues integrated into Matt and Zeke’s life that aren’t typically discussed around gender and sexuality. It’s a great read with a massive secret near the end that threaten’s the trust between Matt and Zeke’s. It’s a Slow burn in terms of sexual content. And my god that Zeke’s a whole lot of lovely chocolate 😊.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGood read, especially for a debut. Awfully long and did drag just a bit. I think it tried to be too many things/include too many tropes at once. Information and dialogue with secondary characters felt like I’d missed a previous story. Interesting enough overall.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024Format: KindleI come to romance for the HEAs and its always a pleasant surprise when books take twists and turns to get there that I wasn't expecting.
Unwrapping His Heart had a few of those and a wonderful cast that filled out the main characters' found family.
This was a lovely, well written book and I'm looking forward to Book 2, Tending His Heart.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2023Format: KindleI had just reviewed Vin George's paranormal release Fang'd and was happy to receive a copy of this authors mainstream book called Unwrapping His Heart.
Meeting Matt a young, gay, successful magazine executive the reader is immediately feeling good vibes. He lives with his long time best friend Zeke who is a school teacher. They live in a nice flat they own together. Knowing this you realize they go back a long time together and with Matt who has hit on Zeke here and there while drunk came to accept Zeke was straight. Both Matt and Zeke have kept secrets from each other from their pasts except with Matt sharing one with Zeke that he has not shared with anyone else ever.
Another long time friend called Matt, telling him a friend of his is looking for an artist to do some work for him at his home. Knowing Matt's abilities he thought he would like the extra cash. Curious Matt agreed to hear what the job was about and meets Dieter Sorenson.
Dieter is 'the bomb' of a catch!!! He is so wealthy, a multi millionaire who is both handsome, kind, generous did I mention gorgeous and gay?
The connection with Matt and Dieter happened the moment they met. The plan was put together that they were sorta in a relationship. Matt worked at Dieter's apartment doing the art project even when Dieter was out of town. Now Zeke became very upset. What could it be? He never felt this way before or was it jealousy? or was he thinking Matt found 'the one' ?
Dieter realizing they have been in love with each other for a very long time shocked Matt into confronting Zeke. It is a rocky road they face, with past hurts and many secrets that they have kept hidden from each other all these years. True to himself Dieter was the best doing what was right too!!!
Such a heartwarming story…Vin George you crushed it. And There is a BOOK 2
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2024Format: KindleI absolutely love Vin George's Evergreen Council books, so I had high expectations for Unwrapping His Heart. Unfortunately this story wasn't what I hoped for. There were essentially 3 MCs (Matt, Zeke, and Dieter) and none of them appealed to me. Matt was traumatized, Zeke was repressed, and Dieter was stilted. The story itself seemed to go off on unnecessary tangents and could have used better editing and focus. I do not plan to read the next book in this series, but will happily enjoy the next Evergreen Council book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great characters
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed this book. It was different than I expected... it felt more "real life" than story. I liked that, and I really liked the main cha, Matt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight or not?
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseEveryone believes school teacher Zeke is as straight as they come. Even his very gay very femme flatmate and best mate Matt.
But that doesn't stop Matt loving him with every ounce of his gay being.
Matt knows Zeke loves him as a friend but can there ever be anything more.
Very emotional story and tears were she'd.

5.0 out of 5 stars a very good story…looking for next in series
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA really good story that drew me in and was hard to put down. I kind of forgot what was in the blurb and initially was a little confused about who the MCs were, only because of the intensity of the relationship between Matt and Dieter. I loved that Dieter was such a good friend. He probably needed to come along for Matt to work things out with Zeke. Hope he gets his own story. Enjoyed this a lot and how Matt and Zeke eventually communicate and find their way to an HEA.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI can't believe I nearly DNF this book. But with really good reviews and the interesting blurb, I knew this would be a refreshing story and I was right. The book is beautifully written with interesting characters and well developed plot that kept me turning those pages. I did find that towards the end of the book that it became a bit preachy and I flicked through a few pages. I will definitely be reading book 2 and highly recommend to friends.
