- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2014What can I say about this novel by Angela Snyder besides it was pretty darn good?!?! I was pleasantly surprised at how this novel grabbed my attention and held on to it until the very last page. I have had case of book hangover after reading about the life and loves of Jane Doe, the heroine of the story. The novel begins with a hunter finding an unconscious woman in the woods with no identification and once she awakens after being in a coma for three weeks, she doesn't have a single memory of the life she lived before her mysterious accident.
Fortunately for her, she is cared for by a very compassionate man Dr. Jack Walker whom she begins to rely on to get her through her recovery as her only friend. However, she cannot shake the occasional feeling that being watched. But luckily for her and us the readers, she is being watched by the sexily mysterious Sebastian Alexander, who only wants her happy.
Nevertheless, the relationship between Jane Doe & Dr. Walker grows, they get married and it appears a happily ever after is on the horizon until tragedy strikes again. Dr. Walker is mugged and killed on or around their anniversary. As Jane is slowly recovering from her loss, the mysterious Sebastian moves into the house next door. She feels a pull in his direction however; she is being dragging in another direction by her deceased husband's twin brother. Now, I just thought that was a bit creepy and fortunately for me, I wasn't the only one because the thought never quite sat right with Jane.
This book had its fair share of suspense, drama, and swoon worthy moments without reading like the cliché paranormal vampire novel. Not that I have read all that many, it was not overdone; just enough for you to know that a vampire was in the storyline. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves a good and well developed story that moves over time as in years and months instead of days and weeks. Well done Ms. Snyder!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2014The cover drew me to this book and I like a good vampire book so that was two things going for it. I found out that the author is a PA girl so that was a trifecta.
This story is a different from most of the vampire books that I have read recently in that it really is not all about the vampire or vampirism but more of a love taken away, a sacrifice for the one you love, and then the journey of reclaiming a lost love.
The characters were well written and even though we are not given much of their background and history I still felt like I was able to understand them. This is difficult for a lot of writers to do so kudos there.
The story line flowed at a good pace and the scenes were written in a way that I was able to form a picture in my head without endless surrounding descriptions, also not always easy to do.
I read this book in two days and with work, life and the pursuit of writing my own book should tell you that it really kept my attention.
The plot is good enough that I had an idea of where it was going but there were still some nice twists in there and not too much drama especially with Elizabeth which as a guy reading what would be classified as a romance book was very much appreciated.
If you enjoy romance novels or even if you’re just in to vampire books then I would recommend this book. The romance is not all syrupy and in your face so don’t be afraid guys if you are worried about your manhood if your caught reading it .
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2015Jane wakes up with amnesia after having been in a coma for a number of weeks. She learns that she was beaten and left for dead in the woods and was given the name Jane Doe because no one has come forward with information on who she is. While in the hospital, her treating physician, Dr. Jack Walker, falls in love with her. Over the weeks of her recovery, Jane falls for him as well and soon the two are married.
Sebastian watches the woman he loves as she recovers and moves on with her life. He misses her so much and had searched for her everywhere when she was taken from him. As bad as he wants her, he knows she's better off with the human doctor. He won't leave though, because as painful as it is, he decides to stay and watch her from afar to make sure she is safe. He doesn't know who tried to kill her, and until then, Jane is still in danger.
Jane and Jack are happy. Jack's brother Matt as well as the rest of his family, have opened their arms to Jane and accepted her into their family. She still has no memory and suffers from headaches and fainting spells, but life is good. Until Jack is taken from her. Matt however is there to help. Before she knows it, a year has passed and she has a new sexy neighbor Sebastian who she feels drawn to. There's something about him that's familiar, she's just not sure what it is. But they get close fast, all the while Matt makes his feelings for her clear. Who will she choose? She's still in danger, and it may be from more than one person. Will she ever remembered who she really is?
I enjoyed this story and although it contains a vampire, it's not really a major part of the story. It's really a love story of past, present and future. It's told from both Jane's and Sebastian's POVs and is a standalone. I liked both of the main characters and I liked Jack's character as well.

Really enjoyed this book. A different take on the vampire human love story. Kept me gripped from the start. Would love to have another book about Laurel and Sebastian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical Vampire story !
Vampire Next Door is the story of a woman left for dead who wakes up from a coma. She has no memory of her past and is called « Jane Doe » since no one came for her. Scared and broken, she quickly understands she never was alone thanks to her doctor, Jack Walker. At the begining of the book, Jane Doe is lucky and loved, and after months of being in a hospital, she finaly is happy. She had found her balance. But unfortunatly, tragedy strikes again and she is once again lost and broken. But something or should I say someone arrives and gives her something to smile for. Here he is : Sebastian Alexander, her mysterious and handsome neighbor, living next door, who seems to have some secrets of his own. Jane is falling for him but at the same time, she is confused by how this new man in her life is capable of getting her so quickly, always here when she needs someone so bad. She also starts to wonder if he is really a stranger or someone she could rely on to find out who she was before the « accident » and above all, who wants her dead.
First I have to say, I love vampire stories and movies so I was really excited to read Vampire Next Door. But maybe I should warn you, this is not a novel 100% about vampires. I mean, the way I understand and love the plot makes me think this novel is more than just about a sexy and dangerous vampire. I loved the pace of this novel, which I found was different from what I usually read, and loved the characters. This is the kind of books I'm beginning to love more and more each time I read one like Vampire Next Door. There are actions, romance ( oh yeah!), humor and suspens. It is a really an efficient writing that made my reading active and amazing. Sure, it's a slow process to get to know the main character. And I also wanted to know more about this mysterious visitor. But then characters like Jack Walker are here and we get to know Jane through his eyes. And it's something I really appreciated. Something else I enjoyed is how easy I felt close to Jane. Who wouldn't feel sad about her ? But who wouldn't want to take her place at some point too ?
The characters :
Now I have to introduce the characters and it's easy when you love all of them (or all but one!)
Let's start with Jane Doe. Like I said, I felt close to her. I usually prefer when the story is told with the first person, but here it was great to know about the main character through different points of view. I could know her feelings, what she thinks and I found myself asking the same questions as she does. Jane is warm, smart and pretty. She is also brave even when she feels broken and lost. She is a survivor but that doesn't mean she doesn't need to be protected. And she absolutly needs to be !
Without saying too much, I'm happy about her journey and who she is becoming through the novel.
Jack Walker
I have to ask : who would hate a man like Jack Walker ? Really ? He is what I'd called a golden boy. He shares some of his quality with Jane and their love is really believable. He is perfect and always wants to do what's best for everyone else. I'm sure his kindness will make you love him as much as I did. Unfortunatly, the answer to my first question isn't ; no one. Too bad and too sad.
Sebastian Alexander
First : Wow ! Then I calm down and I can say more about this character.
Sebastian is of course mysterious, handsome in a way no human can be. I mean, he is hot but I think it's his real age that makes him actractive. Not his power or his fangs, he's more than just a sexy vampire. (I would love to share my bookshelves and a glass of whine with him too !) The way he acts, the battles he has to fight inside and his love for Jane is all I wanted from that kind of character. He is also super protective and a bit jealous. I have to say somethimes I forgot about him being a vampire. But that's because he is warm, attentive and sensitive, and sure dangerous. But I can't help it, I loved him and was not disappointed. I would have loved to know more about his story and I'm happy I got to know more about it. Maybe Angela has some anwsers for me...
Well I can't say too much about the other characters. Besides I like Jane's best friend Ashley. She is fun and sweet too.
What I found great !
So what I found great is that Vampire Next Door, like I said earlier, is not just a vampire story. There is the big question : Who wants Jane dead ? And who was she ? Is she going to get her memory back ? Some answers had to be waited for and it kept me turning the pages. It's great because, even if sometimes I guessed what was coming up, most of the time, I was blown away by the twists. Especially at the end of the book. I was like « Oh my gosh ! Please don't ! » Really intense ! I have to say, I really enjoyed the romance in this book. It wasn't too much or too sexy. Just perfect ! Actually, as a budding writer, one thought kept coming to my mind : This is the vampire story I've always wanted to write. And I'm glad I read Vampire Next Door cause there's everything I love in it. So I guess I have to hank Angela !
The downside
Well I gave 5 stars and Vampire Next Door really deserves it. But there is just one thing I didn't truly enjoyed. It's just... I wanted more ! I mean, I still want more when it's good. But with this novel, I found that sometimes things happened a bit too quickly. It's not really a bad thing because, like I said, I like it when it's efficient. For instance, I wanted to « see » Jack more. I also want to know what happens next for Jane and Sebastian. I love them so much and I would love to read an epilogue. Like « Five years later ».
Besides this tiny thing, I loved all of it. I highly recommend you to read Vampire Next Door. It's a great novel with lovely and surprising characters. I read it fast and was happy with the ending.
I hope my review convinced to buy and read Vampire Next Door. You can follow Angela Snyder on Goodreads, Twitter and through her Facebook page. She will be glad to hear about your thoughts regarding her novel. I can't wait to read another one of her books.
Thank you and enjoy your read !

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read!
Vampire Next Door is an edge of your seat, romantic, paranormal thing of beauty that will have your eyes screaming for more. I was hooked before I cracked the book open as the cover, as plain and simple as it once was, gave an eerie, dark feeling of what was to be expected. The cover was spilling with anticipation and this novel clearly delivered in all aspects. From the onset, the author reels in her readers by using imaginative and figurative language in addition to a writing style that leaves a sweet craving in the reading mind, always wanting to turn to the next page and read, just one more chapter. The story line is fabulous and character development is wonderful as they both keep the reader in suspense as the words fall off the page with ease. If you’re looking for a romantic, suspenseful novel with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end, then Vampire Next Door by Angela Snyder is a book to engage in. Be sure to pick up a soft cover or eBook right now as it is well worth the money invested.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was good
It was quite good. I enjoyed reading so much, but from my point of view there was something missing in the story... I don't know what...that's why I'm not giving 5 stars
