In the Doodoo with Voodoo: Blue Moon Investigations Book 6 - A Snarky Paranormal Detective Mystery Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,024 ratings

If you like action-filled urban mystery books with a strong comedy undercurrent, then Amanda Harper is about to deliver.

What was she thinking? Quitting her steady job in the police for an uncertain future at a paranormal investigation agency? Not only that, her new boss inexplicably took the week off leaving her to run the business.

There's no time to dwell on it though as she has a new client with a surprising problem – Kimberly Kousins has been cursed by a voodoo priest and needs her help!

This is no simple case though, there’s a voodoo army waiting for her and the high priest’s threat to curse her is no joke.

What mystical power does the priest wield? Can he really control the beasts and the elements?

When her friends begin to vanish and even the police won’t help her, she’ll head into a climactic ending that threatens to leave a trail of bodies that might include hers.

Review

"Love this series by Steve Higgs along with the other blue Moon investigation books. The characters are fun, I like Patience, everyone should have a friend like her ! The characters have developed nicely through the series."

"Each time I read a book from this series it's just as enjoyable as the one before, what more can I say."

"This is the first book I have read where Amanda is the main investigator and it was just as interesting and complex a case with lots of funny situations in finding the rational explanation of what appears to be paranormal."

About the Author

At school, the author was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, he won his first award. However, calling it his first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, he is having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and claims to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in his head as they clamour to get out.He lives in the south-east corner of England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Another fine tail woven together with a wee bit of snarkiness.
We can only hope the intriguing drama will continue and maybe some poetic justice for CI Quinn.

Amanda has quite the adventure in this fast-paced romp through the world of voodoo and drugs. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her as she mixed Tempest's crew with her own with amazing results. Will Ben finally fall in love?

After enjoying the Tempest Michaels books it is a big letdown to read this novel. The book lacks the humor you come to expect in the Tempest Michaels books. A weak plot that I was happy to finish. I'm hoping Steve writes more Tempest books and quietly.kills off MS Harper. Not Recommended

Amanda Harper's bitten off more than she can chew when she takes on a case involving voodoo, curses, and a villain slimier than a snake oil salesman. Steve Higgs weaves a clever plot that requires the assistance of Amanda's friend Patience and two of my favorite Blue Moon characters: Big Ben and James/Jane. If you've ever imagined Amanda, Big Ben, James/Jane and Patience all nude in one room together, ta da! Higgs has written the perfect scene for you. Loads of silliness in this quick read.

Very entertaining characters who are led through some good stories. Whilst not too complicated it makes up for it by making you want to see how it’s all going to turn out

This is another Blue Moon Investigations adventure. It’s thrilling and a bit offbeat. If you know Steve Higgs other books, you understand what I’m saying. Honestly you don’t want to miss this one.

Love the books, started with the herne bay howlers as I used to live there, so went back to book 1 and carried on. All the references to towns in kent, even the small ones, were recognisable except for the glaring error in in the doo doo with the voodoo. Tonbridge and Royal Tunbridge Wells are two different places, nit picking I know, but it did grate. Otherwise great characters, great stories and I shall read the lot. Normally I read sci-fi but I have enjoyed these, so well done Mr Higgs.

These books ( blue moon investigations) are a very good read. I’ve read 7 so far.
The thing is they are very short for the price.
For the amount of pages £2:50 would be about right. Costing me a small fortune.
Great writing though simple but entertaining.
