Genre-hopping introvert and word witch living somewhere between the forest and the sea in East Devon, UK.

Jeannie finds inspiration everywhere: myths, stories and songs, people watching, a word here, a look there, but mainly in the landscape. Devon has it all - rocky coast, pebble and sandy beaches, winding lanes and picture perfect cottages, cliffs and forest.

A good day for Jeannie means a blustery wind, racing waves and salty rain. She lives with her husband and two dogs, make a lot of soup, plays too many computer games and loves watching movies.

As the owner of a haunted Inn, it shouldn’t bother Alf that she has acquired one more ghost, but when the ghost keeps her awake with his wailing, she knows she has to do something!
Trying to track down who the ghost was is one thing, trying to figure out who his ghostly killers are is quite another!
To top it all off, Alf is trying to get her Inn ready to open in a few months, as well as recovering from a broken heart of her own.

A quirky paranormal cosy mystery, filled with magical hijinks, ghostly misdemeanors and of course, the feathery wonder Mr. Hoo (the owl). A fun read for fans of magical mystery stories.

An absolutely wonderful story with so much pure unconditionally loving magic. I want to be a part of Wonky Inn and the world of Jeannie Wycherley's making. The characters are so real and so what if they are from all times in history, they show what true goodness of character looks like and that it doesn't matter what time period or who you were or are, everyone can be fueled by goodness and that is at the heart of the most powerful magic. Thank you.

In Book 1, The Wonkiest Witch, Alf inherits an old inn replete with ghosts. In this book she finds one crying loudly and hiding in terror from those who have killed him over and over again. She doesn’t understand how an already dead ghost can be killed multiple times so she calls in an expert ghost whisperer to help.

I love this series! The books are great fun and filled with lovable and quirky characters. Alf is a spunky witch catching up on the magic lessons she ignored while growing up, which means things don’t always go as she expects.

Jeannie Wycherley is great at bringing her characters to life and drawing the reader into the story. She has quickly become a favorite author and I need to read anything she writes. I can’t wait for the next book to revisit all my new friends…alive and dead!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have recently discovered that writers of dark fantasy seem to write excellent paranormal cozies. The corollary is that writers of romance novels write crappy cozies. It also doesn’t take Alf even half the first book to decide she made a big mistake giving up magic.

I enjoyed the premise of an aft
er life inn that could inter mingle with the assumed normal people. This could be the start of many imaginative adventures.

I loved the idea of ghosts murdering a ghost, totally different to the usual murder mystery. I will definitely continue to read this series of books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bewitching Tale!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of “The Ghosts of Wonky Inn”. The author ‘s story is ‘spell binding’ capturing the reader in the trials and tribulations of a fearful sad ghost who even in death is being hunted and persecuted by unknown ghost assailants How can his tortuous life be freed of peril particularly when he has little memory of why this is happening.
The reader will enjoy this smoothly written ‘Bewitching Tale’.
I can’t wait to reading more of the adventures at Wonky Inn!

Once again we join Alfrid Daemmon at the Wonky Inn (otherwise known as the Whittle Inn) where she welcomes any ghosts who come her way. However, her patience wears thin when she is woken up in the middle of the night by crying. This happens three times a night but she cannot find the ghost and in the end asks her resident ghosts who it is. Eventually, one of them tells her which bedroom the crying ghost is in and she finds him hidden away in the cupboard. His name is Luppitt Smeathearte and, after she learns his story, it leads to us meeting some very whacky characters, mostly of the ghostly kind but one, Perdita Pugh, who is a ghost whisperer.
Extremely entertaining series which is suitable for all ages. A nice, light, relaxing read.

I loved the second book just as much as the first. I loved getting to know all of the many ghosts that inhabit Wonky Inn and the history that they bring with them. And Alf is such a loveable character. A really easy, fun and brilliantly written cosy mystery. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Easily a new favourite author. I enjoy her writing and books immensely.
