Editorial Reviews

Review

'Waiting Spaces' by Acacia Mitchell takes the reader on an exciting journey of creativity, self-discovery and soul-care. The poems are engaging, surprising and full of insight. Acacia, drawing from her own excursions, has written a 'travel blog' for the soul. She captures experiences and feelings that are complex yet common to all of us: self-doubt, fears, hopes, "longing for belonging" and many more themes are explored in this book. Like all good explorers, Acacia highlights some helpful places along the way: places of rest, stunning beauty, and healing. This book is for everyone and anyone who seeks to make sense of themselves, the world and others. Buy two copies: one for you, and one to give away! John Caldwell, Pastor of Kairos Church Stirling, and author of several books including 'The Lion's Roar' and 'Christ, the Cross and the Concrete Jungle'.

THIS. Acacia's book spoke to my heart on so many levels. The book is written as letters to people in specific circumstances. I figured that only a few would relate to me but, actually, the majority of the poem-letters spoke to me right where I am. Guess I'm in a waiting space right now! I would definitely recommend an in-print copy of this to go on your bookshelf to soothe your heart when you're in a wilderness.

Acacia Mitchell is a word smith who did an amazing job of finding, shaping and combining words to express the feelings in life that often go unspoken. Some poems are very relatable and others show life through a different perspective than your own.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful collection of poems to minister to your heart

I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t help it.

I was captivated by Acacia’s resonating and haunting and insightful words. And I plan on returning to digest them slower and pull new meaning out.

There is so much wisdom here, but all from a place of authenticity and not as if the writer claims to have all the answers but as if she gently takes your hand and says “come with me on this journey.”
