He’s on the wrong side of the law trying to protect himself and his family when

DISCOVER A MURDER MYSTERY YOU WON’T WANT TO PUT DOWN TILL THE STUNNING CONCLUSION.

THE DETECTIVE
As a small boy, DI Temple found his mother dead. She had been brutally murdered, with the crime unresolved. Temple is a man on a mission to find her killer, it’s why he joined the police. With the past throwing a long shadow over his life, as a detective, this makes him even more determined to seek justice for other victims as he hunts their killers. His personal quest makes him difficult to live with and difficult to work with and his relationships suffer. But he’ll stop at nothing to protect his family, even though they are estranged and if it means breaking the law.

THE SETTING
The DI Temple novels are set in Wiltshire, a largely rural county. Its landscape of beautiful rolling hills, downs and valleys gives no immunity to the crime that infects its scattered towns and villages. Steeped in ancient history, the tourist guides make no mention of the organised crime groups, the murders and turf wars, or the drugs that saturate the streets, lanes and school playgrounds. The M4 artery across the top of the county pumps its poison from London and Bristol, linking east and west coasts, providing criminal gangs and networks with an easy route to ply their deadly trade.

THE AUTHOR
Deborah Lucy worked for 25 years in Wiltshire Police, alongside a number of senior investigating officers as they investigated major crimes, including murders, missing persons, abduction and kidnaps. For three years she worked in the missing adults and children arena, with police, government policy advisers and charities. Latterly, she conducted lifestyle inquiries for international blue chip companies into the lives of billionaires, millionaires and politically exposed people around the world. She has a master’s degree in historical research.

This novel has a lot of twists and turns I enjoyed guessing whom I thought were the guilty persons

I wasn't sold at the end. I wished it would had a little more story line, especially about if he'll took the son home or not. That would have been nice to know!

Many thanks to the author / Joffe Books / Books n All Book Promotions. I received a digital copy of this crime fiction at no charge, I am leaving this review voluntarily. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

DI Temple is called upon to investigate the murder of a woman who was found strangled in her bed. As usual, law enforcement first looks at the husband. In this instance, the husband has been out of the country.

It becomes a lot more complicated when the medical examiner sends a report showing the woman was 2 months pregnant. Her husband's? It also comes to light that the victim was seeing more than one man while her husband was gone. Of course, the husband was having his own affairs when he was traveling.

Too add more smoke and mirrors to Temple's life, a criminal with vengeance on his mind, is released from prison and immediately targets Temple. First his house is set afire .... the arsonist finds an unregistered in Temple's house .. he also finds a paper with his estranged wife's name and address.

DI Temple joined the police when, as a small child, found his mother who had been murdered. The crime was never solved. This has made him a dedicated detective, a bull dog who doesn't let go until justice is served. The same thing that has made the man, also have interfered with his personal life .. but he will go to great lengths to protect his family.

Lies and deceit, betrayal, blackmail .. this book has a little bit of everything that makes a gripping crime fiction. The author has brought her experience of working within the law enforcement world of investigating major crimes and creating a credible story.

What to say about a book like this. The story line of course is about murder. Who did it. Could be any number of people. The ending will surprise you. A very good crime thriller.

D I Temple seems to be between a rock and a hard space in this book . So much is going on took me a bit to get it all sorted out. A murder in the 1980s . A pending divorce . A woman found murdered and tied up in her bed . A foul tempered inspector breathing down his neck . The woman's life was very complicated . Oh, yes a touch of arson from someone he had locked up.

Very interesting and enjoyable story. The characters were believable and complex. The plot starts off as a murder but becomes much more. Well written.

This book was okay. Just meandered on a lot in places. No one was happy in this book. The detective just seemed to go from from problem to another which was off putting for me. English police procedures usual have some humour but this was sadly lacking. Not a bad book over all though. I give three stars.

I am not sure that I particularly like DI Temple as he has just a few too many flaws. I will read the second book to see if he demonstrates any redeeming characteristics.

Very enjoyable read. The way technology is used. The secrets and lies and of course gut instinct. Will have to look out more from this author. Would definitely recommend this book.

I enjoyed the story and thought it was interesting throughout. I must say, however, that I was disappointed with the ending. Some authors "leave you hanging" at the end, but this was just unfinished with too many things left unsettled.
Had it not been for the ending, I would have given it 4 stars.
