Nikolai
My rules when it comes to my job in personal protection are pretty simple:

1. Protect the client’s life, not their feelings.
2. Don’t put hands on a client unless you’re getting them out of harm’s way.
3. For God’s sake, don’t do something stupid like fall in love.

Twenty-four hours after meeting Jude Archer, rules 1 and 2 are already out the window.

Thankfully there’s no chance of falling for the callous businessman who cares more about his next deal than he does his own safety.

Jude may have managed to make fools of all the guys his wealthy boss and rumored lover has hired to watch him, but he’s playing in the big leagues now. The son of a bitch might not value his life, but I’m pretty fond of mine.

Time to teach the clueless Jude Archer a few hard lessons…

Jude
My rules for success aren’t for everyone, but they should be.

1. Work hard.
2. When you’re on the verge of giving up, work harder. Life owes you nothing. You have to take what you want.
3. For God’s sake, don’t do something stupid like get distracted by feelings.

With just weeks between me and the closing of the deal that will give me everything I want, I don’t have time to worry about a supposed stalker who hasn’t had the balls to do anything more than send a few threatening letters to my wealthy boss.

Sure, I sent a few so-called bodyguards packing. Even if I thought I was in serious danger, I can’t have someone watching me 24/7. My life works the way it does for a reason and no one, not even the gorgeous Russian ex-soldier who thinks he can scare me into submission, is going to change that.

Nikolai Falkov thinks he has something to teach me? Yeah, good luck with that.

Although Sloane Kennedy always dreamed of being a writer as a teenager, she didn't take the plunge until 2015 when she released her first novel. Since then, she has released nearly 30 books including the Amazon best-selling "Pelican Bay" and "Protectors" series. While she initially began writing M/F romance, she found her true passion writing gay romance and nearly all of her most recent releases reached the #1 spot on Amazon's Gay Romance bestseller list and several have made it to Amazon's overall bestseller list. Sloane was born in Germany but grew up in the U.S. and although she currently lives in Wisconsin, the place where she has always felt most at home is Seattle and many of her books take place in the Emerald city. When not writing, a menagerie of 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 horses takes up what little time she has left in the day!

Written in dual first person POV. Good amount of M/M sexy times. No real humor but I wasn’t expecting any. Some drama and a little bit of action. I’ve read lots of this author’s other books and I’m happy to say that this book didn’t take the “sexual assault route” that so many of her other books did. I do wish that there was more information regarding the plot resolution but it was still an overall good read. Also, just an FYI, the bonus scene (by signing up for her newsletter) takes place at the end of the book but before the epilogue so it’s okay if you skip it. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this. I’ve read too many books that end with a HFN and you have to sign up for something to get the true HEA - hate that.

I’ve read most of Sloane’s books. I knew going in it would be tough. Lots of angst but it’s always so worth it in the end of her books. This book though... it’s different. It starts with a very predictable trope. The stuck up businessman and the broody bodyguard. What I didn’t expect was the positively multifaceted Jude. I was so totally blindsided by his narrative that I had to take some time to process where he came from and why he is who he is. Adding in Nikolai and his unerring belief in Jude, it creates a really stunning story.

I read Sloane because I know what I’m getting. Most of the time, it’s exactly what I want or expect. I am rarely disappointed in her delivery. But I will say that for the first time after reading most of her books, this one took me by surprise. But a good surprise. Nikolai and Jude are simply lovely from beginning to end. This book will stay with me.

and would recommend. SK is a very good writer, lots of feels, lots of description, but I find her series too dark for me. (An exception would be the Pelican Bay series which she co-writes and which I recommend as well.)

Anyway, I thought this was a very good read. I've look back at her other stand-alone titles and know that I really liked those as well. Good main characters, really liked the love Nik has for his family and that they were brought into the story. Jude's difficulties handling life were not too much and there was no miracle cure for his difficulties. Just a great read!

The struggle to be accepted for who you are and not what you show the world is real. Jude has ADHD and dyslexia and has to work twice as hard as anyone else to climb the corporate ladder. He has struggled his entire life having grown up in foster care and being passed from family to family. Abandonment issues cause him difficulty in trust. Nik works for a personal protection agency and is hired to protect Jude, who has insulted, played off or ditched his other security people. As Nik gets to know him Jude' s walls start to fall and starts to let Nik in. Nik fights the attraction to try to remain objective as his security. Nik has his own issues to deal with. So let the games begin. You will find this to be a heart warmer, with some passion, some danger and slot of love tossed in.

I've always thought Sloane Kennedy a very good writer and have read and loved most of her books. This book I had trouble with. Nik and Jude were a terrific couple but I thought there was too much introspection on both their parts. The story seemed to get lost in what was going through their minds and was a little too long. I loved Nik's family and was glad Jude was enveloped by them but, again, too much mind stuff and not enough family stuff. Also, the mystery, which is usually one of this author's strengths was given short shrift at the end. Not one of her better efforts, but there were several poignant moments and it was still worth reading.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, or so the saying goes, right? Well, in this case, our book club’s monthly challenge was to do exactly that. Pick a book cover that focuses on his/her eyes. With beautiful eyes like those on the cover, and the author being a personal favorite, how could I resist?

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover? A body guard should know better, right? Don’t stereotype. Just because someone appears to be a corporate golden child doesn’t mean they don’t know struggle. Or poverty. Or that they don’t care. Or thinks they’re invincible. No matter how big that silver spoon may seem doesn’t mean it’s in his client’s mouth…

Just because this new body guard is physically impressive doesn’t mean they’re stupid. Or arrogant. Or infallible. Or a sell out.

Ok, so the heroes did not start off on the right foot. If fact, the feet were about as wrong as they could’ve been. I wasn’t sure how these two guys were going to come back from the wrongness of their intros. I just knew that if anyone could make this battle of wills worth my while, it was Sloan Kennedy. And when it happened it was glorious!

I loved these characters, their conflict, their discovery, the amazingly sensual heat level, and the surrounding cast. I strongly recommend you see for yourself!

I'm a huge fan of Sloane Kennedy and was so happy to see her release this standalone book.

Watch Me is a well written enemy to lovers, bodyguard/charge book.
Everything is not as it seems... The characters are complex and very relatable.
I enjoyed the story well enough, however, I felt that the bodyguard aspect of the story was not explored enough and the mystery behind the threats were not brought to light until the every end and felt rushed to me.

Zusammen mit Nik lernt man erst allmählich, was hinter Judes teilweise sehr schroffem Auftreten steckt.

This book was lovely. It had aspects of suspense but I felt it was more focused on the family aspect of the characters lives. Honestly, the hook of a 'villain' wasn't needed for the story for work but it also didn't ruin anything. All the characters were well rounded and easy to like and relate to.

This will make you cry though, especially if you're nuero-divergent. I got teary eyed quite a few times.

So i had to have a think on my review for this. That sounds strange but to do it justice i needed it.

I'm not gonna lie it took a while for me to get into this. I mean till about 40% in and then it started to draw me in, but that may be because i love a bit of action and this book isn't about that. It's about a deep connection between the two main characters and that took time and patience to build. The plot is pretty much secondary to their love.

Nik works in personal security and is assigned to Jude who flat out refuses to have someone follow him around 24/7. He's got rid of all the previous security guys, one way or another, but that was before he met Nik.

The two meet and at first Jude wants nothing to do with Nik, but as time goes on and with Nik being impossible to get rid of, their connection starts to grow. Nik becomes one of the very few people that gets him.

I'll leave the plot there so as not to spoil it but i will just say that this story is not something i have ever read before. Jude has some unique traits that are just facinating and heartbreaking. I think this is why i wanted to think on this review. It's so different i guess it took me a bit by surprise. As i said its not action packed but its something else entirely. I call it a thinking book. Its not an easy and care free read, i feel you need to think about whats written. You need to really take it in to get it. And the more i thought about it, the more i got it. Now, sitting here writing this review i realise i loved it. I really really did. Its not a "OMG this book!" Its a "wow... you know what? I get it! I get it!" Book, and because of this i've given it 5 stars because it's stunned me! Beautifully written. Well researched. Thoughtful and provocative. It's incredibly well told. It's on my mind well after i've finished and if that isn't a great book i don't know what is.

Unusually amazing! Brilliantly insightful. Highly recommend!
