Whatever It Takes (Code Of Honor Book 5) Kindle Edition
Dillon Thornewent from almost getting kicked out of the Army to being a revered member of a Special Forces unit. When his commanding officer orders him on a protection detail, it’s the last thing he wants to do. He’s a weapons expert, not a babysitter.
Luke Rhine worked his way up through the Army and retired as a general. Life should have been smooth sailing. Only, things aren’t going as well as he’d like. For one, someone wants him dead. For another, he’s attracted to the soldier who’s assigned to his protection detail, and damn if he doesn’t want to kiss that smirk off Dillon’s face.
There’s a problem. Dillon doesn’t do relationships and Luke’s too old for anything else. But one thing is clear…when the bad guys show up, Dillon will do whatever it takes to keep Luke alive.
*Whatever It Takes is the fifth book in the Code of Honor series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone.

These books are about falling in love, it's the story that keeps you coming back.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhatever it Takes is book five of the Code of Honor Series byReese Knightley. This installment focuses on Dillion, a military man with baggage and a quick temper, and Luke, a rich General with baggage of his own. Dillion is put on babysitting duty when someone tries to kill Luke. There's an instant connection between she two, however the emotions and threats on Luke's life keep getting in the way.
I really do enjoy how this author tells a story. There is always a good balance of romance and action to keep you interested in reading to the end. The author also has away with characters. You will want to be invested in the outcome of their story.
There are a couple of small typos. Nothing that can't be brushed over for most people. I would suggest absolutely reading this book but although it can be a stand alone its better with the others.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have read 1-5 of Code of Honor Books and have enjoyed all of them. First time I have read these kinds of books, but the characters are well written and story line is believable.
I do wish that when a book is written the book number should be with the title as I do not like having to locate the next book by just the title.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved Luke and Dillon! Always love seeing all of the team. Glad these two could work through their differences and Eric was able to help Dillon while he was helping him.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis story belongs right where it is in the Code of Honor series. Two engaging Main Characters working out their relationship among the chaos of death threats. True Reese action ensues! Don't miss it! You'll enjoy the adventures.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI love this author's writing. Her books are always exciting and intense. This book is the fifth in the Code of Honor series and while it was very good, I didn't feel that it was as strong as the other four. Dillon and Luke were not together with Dillon fighting the attraction, then, suddenly they were together with Dillon having an epiphany. It just seemed a bit rushed to me. Don't get me wrong, I thought Dillon and Luke were a terrific couple and, once they were together, they were together if you know what I mean. I really liked the character of Eric, Luke's stepson, and it was painful to see how young and unsure of himself he was. I felt so sorry for him and wanted to hug him and tell him it was going to be okay. I would also have very much liked to see more of Dillon and Luke in their actual relationship and know more about the animal rescues Luke had going on at the ranch. I'm hoping to see Beckett and Holden's story soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseYou will not stop reading! Seriously I finished this little baby in one setting! So much action and adventure that it will leave you breathless and with the biggest darn smile on your face! Though next time Reese please take out the trash a little better, do not leave scumbags breathing please!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseDillon and Luke, whew!! They were so good together. Oh my goodness, I loved that once Luke decided he wanted Dillon, he went for it. Dillon didn't stand a chance. I'm loving these alphas badasses!! Can't wait to see whose next...hope it's Zane and Isaac😍

5.0 out of 5 stars Anger Issues
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhen retired General Luke Rhine has an attempt made on his life Liam vows to protect his old friend. To that end he assigns Infinity as bodyguards particularly Dillon Thorne. The problem is the pesky unwanted attraction that Luke feels for Dillon. As the team struggles to find who wants Luke dead, he and Dillon grow closer. If only Dillon could see the man Luke does, the Protector, not just a man with a vile temper. Maybe if Luke can stay alive long enough he can convince Dillon to give him a shot.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this Free Kindle Unlimited series. The characters are engaging and the plot interesting. Luke and Dillon make a great team. Roll on the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.8
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis story has a central theme of temper and how a bad one can impact a person’s life if not treated. Dillon’s relationship with Luke reflects this tension and it is interesting to see how this issue works itself out in an emergency situation. A new dog, Cricket, is introduced, and the military units see action with loan sharks and a mysterious shooter. I enjoyed this novel, especially all the interesting people in it, and love the framework of acceptance of gay relationships in a close knit group of Special Forces soldiers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another winner
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis series, featuring the group of hardened super soldiers and their lover, families and friends continues to be a must read for me.
Dillon comes out of the shadows and it is a joy to see him change and allow himself to be happy with the wonderful Luke.
The exciting bits get very exciting and life on the ranch and all that entails is delightful and warm.
Very enjoyable. A book that kept me reading when I knew there were things to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really enjoyed this book could not put down, thing I love about this series is it alway leave you wanting more. The characters are great flawed at least one but truthfully it’s not a flaw just a burning need to protect. And the anger to go with it he just needs to see he would hurt someone unless he was protecting someone.
