    This was a love story that was more to my liking. Although there was a mystery involved, it wasn’t as dark and physically abusive. I loved how honest Benedict and Cassandra were with one another. Even after all the years of hurt feelings and cruel treatment, there love never died. It was a sweet story of rekindled love that overcame all the odds stacked against them. As usual, the group of friends and their wives were funny and entertaining, and it was even better adding two of the fathers. I loved the relationship Benedict had with his father even though he was illegitimate.

    And yet another great book in the series! Again, Clee has created real, likeable protagonists, which I love.
    Benedict's and Cassandra's story started out very differently from the previous two couples, in that they couldn't stand each other (Benedict for obvious reasons, and Cassandra because she was a pawn of her horrible father). They still secretly loved each other, even after their five-year hate-fest. It was great seeing them work together to solve the mystery of who was trying to ruin Cassandra's reputation; as a result, they allowed their walls of hate to erode.
    Like his friends, Benedict was a fighter - mentally and physically - and his father was cool too. I also liked how the ladies from the first two books took Cassandra under their wings... once they and their husbands grilled the crap out of her. Remember - she was very nasty to Benedict in the past.
    Looking forward to the next book! 5 stars!

    I read this straight through. The mystery was compelling. The characters were well developed...for the most part. My only complaint is that the Hero was much more relatable/likable than the heroine. I felt the imbalance was not quite fair to the heroine. The hero’s backstory cast him as victim while what little we get of the heroine’s backstory cast her as a villain at worst and a shallow, selfish title-grabber at best. She was 18 when her dad strong-armed her into rejecting the hero’s marriage proposal. An 18-year-old female would have had very little influence over such a manipulative parent. A prologue showing the actual interactions of all the characters could have been used to make the heroine more worthy of the reader’s sympathy.

    I have read all the books in the series and this one is best so far. I eagerly await to read Sybil and Daventry story. I love authors work. She brings in intrigue, romance with steamy scenes perfectly. Coming to this story, it took quite long time for me to warm up with Cassandra. She was quite rude with the Hero. We have Cassie who is drugged, kidnapped and left semi naked in Hyde Park at early morning. The person who did this writes notes to Hero who arrives at the scene. Even when he tries to rescue her, she is rude and then realizes that only he can rescue her while her kidnapper had sent notes to peers to ensure both are caught and she is ruined. Cassie was always in love with Benedict but her father is manipulative cold man and stops her as he is illegitimate son. She proposes to Benedict for marriage. And then both of them are again caught in kidnapper's plot. What follows is second chance romance, forgiveness, love and discovery of the culprit. No spoilers here. Overall Recommended read

    Benedict and Cassandra have loved each other for years , but family interference on her side and the fact he’s illegitimate are what tore them apart.

    When it comes to the crunch and she’s in danger of ruin he’s her only hope , but will he step in to save her or will he walk away .

    It was great to meet the stars of her last books in this series again ,and to be introduced to some very interesting new ones.
    It’s also really wonderful to be able to look forward to Daventry and Sybil’s book which comes next .

    Another dramatic opening to a story in this series. I enjoyed the story, and especially liked the relationship between the three friends and Cavanagh’s relationship with his father. Although Cassandra is a lovely young woman and the romance is beautifully developed, I couldn’t help thinking she was somewhat spineless in giving him up in the first place. Anyway she overcame all subsequent hurdles - from a horrible father to a dishonest friend - to show her love for Cavanagh.
