Where We Began (Stone Lake Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 524 ratings

There are moments in life when a good thing comes along at the wrong time.
Juniper Sellers definitely fits that description.

I’m not ready for her, but damn do I want her.

She’s a beautiful bird with a broken wing and that spells nothing but trouble.
I’m not strong enough to walk away. I should, because I’m as broken as her.

She’s fire and sass.
I’m a moth drawn to her flame.

It’s a toss up which one of us will get burned first.

This novella is a prequel story to Before We Fall. No prior books needs to be read to understand this story.

Ben and Junie drew me in to this exciting prequel to their story. She has just undergone a traumatic experience and has put men to the side but Ben who is the sheriff finds his way through her walls. Their banter is endearing, and I can't wait for the next book!

This amazing series continues with a FREE novella before the full length book is released. I love that Jordan always wants her readers to have the best background we possibly can for her characters. We get to see where Ben and Junie left off right after the big incident in When You Were Mine. This is super important because Before We Fall (book #3) actually begins a year after book #2 ended. By reading this novella we'll be able to jump right into book #3 without missing a beat!

Ben definitely has a soft spot for Junie and it's great, but he's been through a lot with his past relationship and is carrying around a lot of baggage. Junie hasn't exactly had a smooth past either. This last incident certainly didn't help her either. She likes Ben but will that be enough to make her open up to new possibilities?

The ending of this book had me screaming at the characters and I am dying for the next installment of this series. Write faster please Jordan Marie!

This quick read, didn't surprised me. I guessed right, how Ben will mess up with June. It didn't helped to his case, that Ben wasn't open with Junie about his relationship with Luna. So, probably everything looked worst. Not that, I say Ben 'mess up' wasn't ouch moment.
I really liked Junie. Despite what she been through, and that she was a bit cracked, Junie was strong and still had her spirit. Loved her sass.
Ben... Sighs. Okay. I can't say for sure how I feel about him. He's great character, but not so great H atm. He wasn't on right mind to start, anything with Junie. Or at least, he should had been open about his own demons. I guess, the jury is still out there, and we will see in Before We Fall.

I was hesitant to read this story as it goes from adult relationship back to high school. Sadly, it was just as juvenile and immature as I expected it to be

The blurb tells you what this wonderful book's about and you should get it on that alone really, plus IT'S FREE!! 😳

What I'm gonna tell you about is my wonderful book boyfriend,
    ❤Ben Kingston❤, and 🦋Juniper Sellers🦋, the woman I wanna be.

Ben is sweet, kind, caring, patient and funny. He's tall, dark and handsome, with muscles for days and tattoos to boot. And, guess what else? Ya'll! He's the local sheriff AND rides a motorcycle! Perfection wrapped in dark hair and eyes, tattoos and a uniform! Could it get any damn better? You'd be quick to say "No" but I'm telling you, it does! On top of all that hotness, Sheriff Kingston's got some kinks in the bedroom! Hell yes! ::Sigh:: I'm dead, in the best way, and you will be too!

Junie's a beauty and a hoot! Her blonde hair, blue eyes and curves in all the right places are enough to make you love her (maybe hate her too?) but then she opens her mouth and loads of sass, humor and fire pour out. See? Perfect! She's been through hell but her determined grit and heart of gold shines bright, unsnuffable (Is that a word? Is now, 'cause I like it). Junie's badass with plenty gumption and spirit-the woman we all could be.

So, what are you waiting for? Don't pass this story up! Stop thinking about it and get Where We Began!

For only being 80 pages long, this story grabbed me right from the beginning and didn't let go till the very (almost) ending. Unfortunately, Sheriff and Junie still have more of their story to unfold. But what Marie gives us (the reader) in this short prologue is awesome! Great character development, smooth writing style, and a story that pulls at the heart strings and yet, is relate-able on so many different levels. I'll say it again, awesome!

Silly me. I thought from the title this was the beginning of this series, not the beginning of Ben and Junie. That will teach me to make sure I've started a series at the beginning.

I love Jordan Marie's books. Pretty much every single one so I was surprised to see that I had missed this one.

There is a ton of angst between Ben and Junie in this short novella, and I really want to like Ben. But that man really needs to get his head around what he wants before he tries to start anything with Junie. To find out how everything that happened in this book starts, I'm going back to the beginning with Letting You Go to find out how Luna broke Ben's heart and how Gavin came back into the picture.

But, I have to say this novella sucked me into this series big time.

We got a peek at the relationship between Ben and Junie in When You Were Mine, the 2nd book of the Stone Lake series, and I was itching to learn more about them. This short prequel gives us some inside info into what happened between these two. Ben is Sheriff of this small town and Junie is the sister of his nemesis, who gets caught up in a horrible situation. Ben is dealing with heart ache of his own but takes a liking to Junie. The chemistry is sizzling between these two until Ben makes one fatal mistake that changes Junie's perception of him. Will Junie ever forgive Ben?? I sure hope so but I hope she makes him work for it. I can't wait to see what happens in Before We Fall.

This book begins with a bang and keeps on popping.
Two broken people share a growing attraction; despite being bonded by horrific circumstances.
Despite Junnie and Ben both begin to mend the broken pieces of each other before they become blown apart once and for all.

Ok so I read this on a wim as it sounded interesting and the story arch is a good one but I dont feel this was written to it's full potential and found to be a but disappointing.

But I give this a 3 out 5 as I liked the arch its self and I felt issue was a serious one but written well for some.

I think the author is on the right track but it didn't stand out to me and struggled to finish it.
