White-Hot Hack: Kate and Ian #2 Kindle Edition
When cybercriminals doxed undercover hacker Ian Bradshaw and forced him to flee, he begged Kate Watts for forgiveness and vowed never to hurt her again. He also convinced her to marry him, and when their idyllic summer on Roanoke Island comes to an end, the newlyweds relocate to their new home deep in the heart of Virginia’s horse and wine country. Ian still struggles with boundaries, but he keeps Kate’s lingerie drawer filled with surprises, and there’s no shortage of number-six kisses. There’s even a fast, new car to replace his beloved Shelby.
Ian promised Kate that life with him would never be boring, but spending her days picking out paint colors and going to Pilates isn’t going to cut it. Meanwhile, Ian discovers that building a white-hat security firm from the ground up seems harder the second time around, and he might have underestimated how much he’d miss the undercover work he walked away from. To make matters worse, the hacktivists are threatening national security, and the task force could really use Ian’s help.
Kate and Ian have always worried that their past would catch up to them, and when faced with the biggest showdown of their lives, they must capitalize on the one thing they excel at most: teamwork. Ian claims no one is a better hacker than him, but in order to triumph, he’ll have to prove it. And if he can’t, he risks losing the woman whose heart he worked so hard to hack.
This is the second and final book in the Kate and Ian series. The first book, Heart-Shaped Hack, can be read as a standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2016I LOVED this book! SO MUCH! I am already a HUGE fan of Tracey Garvis-Graves and of Kate and Ian and I could not wait to get my hands on this book! White-Hot Hack did NOT disappoint. I was thrilled to be back in the adventurous lives of Kate and Ian and felt like I was home again. Immediately this story drew me in, as I couldn't wait to see what Kate and Ian were up to since we left them in HSH all those months ago. (By the way, you really must read HSH first, I do not consider this book to be a standalone) It was like meeting up with old friends and just a lovely feeling.
WHH basically picks up where HSH left us. Kate and Ian are married and settling into their new life, new home and new adventures. They are still the hilarious, awesome, so in love couple that we know and love, and I am so glad for this. The author has a true gift when it comes to writing dialogue, and their quick-witted banter is just so much fun to read. Both Kate and Ian's personalities come shining through once again and I just could not get enough of them. They're so in love, and just want each other to be happy, to be fulfilled in their day to day lives and above all to be safe and secure. Their emotions are real, I felt everything they did every step of the way, and again, this is a testament to the author's excellent story-telling.
One thing I love about this book is that it gives the reader a glimpse into Kate and Ian's day to day lives without a constant sense of foreboding. There is no drama for the sake of drama. There are plenty of moments where you think uh-oh, things might not go well here, but quickly enough you breathe a sigh of relief, and the worry is gone. On the other hand, there is plenty of adventure and excitement within the world of cyberterrorism and hacking, which I found absolutely fascinating (and a bit creepy). Clearly Tracey Garvis-Graves has done her research, as everything is explained clearly and accurately when it comes to Ian's work; as someone who does not know much about this topic, I truly appreciated her efforts and thank her for being thorough.
Another amazing part of this story is the love and romance. Kate and Ian have such a wonderful relationship and the author conveys this perfectly. They're married now, but have not lost their sense of romance and passion one bit. While I found their dialogue to be a bit funnier in the first book, I still found myself laughing at their text exchanges and conversations throughout WHH, and loved every bit of it. Their personalities really shine through in this story and I just love them both so much.
Do Kate and Ian get their HEA? Yes, they do. This is not a spoiler, as we know it's coming and it's well-deserved and I will just say that it is perfect. Truly perfect for them. I found myself with a huge smile on my face for the entire epilogue, although as I read the last sentences I felt sad knowing this was the end of their story. I will miss Kate and Ian, but they have been given the life they have more than earned.
Thank you Tracey Garvis-Graves for yet another outstanding story. I cannot wait to see what you have in store for your readers in the future.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2021Kate and Ian are married and living the life. But because of Ian's job and history, he does have enemies and they do have to lay low. Which means that Kate is doing all the domesticated things of a house wife, but longing for a bit more given the proactive career professional she used to be. While Ian strives to make her happy, her abilities seem stifled and it was obvious that this wasn't a good long term solution for her. Especially since Ian was still involved in his cyber security activities although from a different vantage point. As things ramped up on a national security level, Kate was able to take some initiative and demand participation. While Ian is always going to be overbearing and overprotective, he also cannot deny Kate a chance to be involved and challenged seeing how charged and passionate she gets. The story picks up in the latter half of the book with them participating more in a teamwork approach not just to the marriage, but to the job, and I adored how Kate came off so fearless and eager. In both books, it would seem like Kate got the short end of the stick in certain ways because of Ian (especially in the view of Kate's dad), but at the same time, Kate is an incredible character so full of love and understanding that she would never think she got short changed. Not to mention that Ian would always prioritize her first and do whatever it takes to make her smile so I found the ending to be very fitting for them both.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2016Oh, how I love it when Ian calls Kate, sweetness, and Katie. I brought such a smile to my face each and every time he called her one of his nicknames. In preparation for the second book, I listen to Heart-Shaped Hack on Audible as a nice little refresher. I loved it just as much the second time as I did the first. From the very beginning of White-Hot Hack, everything was brought back to the forefront of my mind. From the characters great banter and kisses by number. It was like being home.
I call you sweetness because everything in my life got sweeter the minute you became a part of it. You’re exactly the woman I always hoped I’d find.”
I loved this book, but in the beginning, Ian and Kate were definitely in the honeymoon stage. I knew it wouldn’t be long before some action or drama would kick it up a notch and make the book more exciting. In White-Hot Hack, you see how perfect of a team Ian and Kate are. Ian was his usually charming and cocky self always providing a laugh. He’s so adorable, and I’m a little jealous that Kate gets him as her husband. He’s the perfect book boyfriend.
Is this the end of Ian and Kate? I don’t know. The story had a perfect ending, but there were still a few loose ends that could be tied up. I would love to see more of these two fun, smart, and adventurous characters!
“You glamoured her like some kind of hacker-vampire.”
Tracey Garvis Graves books always pull me in from the first page to the last. The storylines are well developed, smartly written and easy to picture. I can’t recommend this author or series enough. There’s romance, great banter, humor, suspense, and plenty of steamy scenes.

3.0 out of 5 stars The conclusion was OK
I usually am very wary of conclusions that feature the same people/couple after they get their happy ending. In my experience, conclusions are not very satisfying and have nothing on the “first book”. It feels dull with too much fabricated drama.
I still wanted to give White-Hot Hack a chance because, Kate and Ian, everyone! I fell in love with them and their unusual life and love story that I had to know what was next for them.
The story started a few weeks after Heart-Shaped Hack ended so I got to see the whole process of finding a home, getting used the unconventional situation, finding a new job etc. It was nice to see what they made of this new situation but that’s the problem: It was nice. I was missing the excitement, the happiness, the rush I felt while reading book 1. You could say it was slightly boring here and there.
What I missed the most was the Kate and Ian from Heart-Shaped Hack. Their banter wasn’t as present as before but this is what I loved so much about them! The whole atmosphere in general felt different somehow. The simplicity was gone.
The drama regarding “their biggest showdown” was too much drama and a little far-fetched. As if Garvis Graves wanted to surpass the previous ending at all costs.
All in all, White-Hot Hack was not as amazing as I had hoped. It was a nice book and I now know what Kate and Ian are up too but for me, Heart-Shaped Hack would have been enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read for a second book
Still a feel good book but I did prefer the first more this one felt like too much info while describing about the hacking with all the why, how ... Missed the lol moments the first book had but overall still a great read will more than likely read again

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely love the relationship between Ian and Kate - they just ...
I absolutely love the relationship between Ian and Kate - they just might be my favorite book couple ever. Their banter, their chemistry, their mutual respect - I love them! I also loved getting a peak into the working of hacking. I actually learned a lot. This two-book series is well worth it. I am just sad that it is over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every bit as good as the first book! I love the banter between Kate & Ian.
Kate and Ian are back with the banter that I loved so much in Heart Shaped Hack, along with more intrigue, suspense, and heart stopping action.
When a much anticipated sequel comes out, there's sometimes a question of whether it will live up to it's predecessor. In this case it was every bit as enjoyable as the first book. I couldn't put it down and loved every minute!
Tracey Garvis Graves captures the dynamics of marriage so very well in all of her books, and this one was no exception. All too often, a book ends with the couple getting married and having their HEA, so what I loved about this story was seeing their life together after they got married. I haven't read many books where the H/h are a married couple, so it made a refreshing change. Kate and Ian work very well together, and the scenes where they were working undercover were really entertaining. The attention to detail was second to none, it's clear that Tracey has been very meticulous in her research, and I loved learning more about cyber crime.
Some romance stories have the whole angst thing going on, but not this one. Kate & Ian are so in tune with each other, they never miss a beat. I found myself with a smile on my face reading about their antics, and I was on the edge of my seat as the hacker who had doxed Ian in HSH finally played their hand, the tension had my heart pounding. I even had a few tears at the very end, Kate & Ian are one of my favourite book couples, and I was sorry to say goodbye to them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good follow up
I love Ian. I want an Ian. White hot hack was good was not quite as good as Red hot hack but still good. Was nice to see the HEA. A bit more drama than book 1.
