Oh thank goodness, we picked up right where the cliffhanger left off! I love when an author just keeps the story moving like that and doesn’t try to recap too much. We’re with you, Tracy, and thank you for being here for us readers!
This was a great continuation of Stella and Seb’s story. I really appreciate how, when Stella goes out of country, she’s clear in her head that she is not running from her problems, that she is setting a time and space boundary for herself and that she is going to deal with this stuff after recovering from a physical injury and lots of mental turmoil. Yes, she even admits she knows this will look like running away, but to her this is a healthy boundary. Applause for a girl who knows what she needs!
I love the peek into Stella’s past life (and oh, another series that I need to go back to and read apparently! So many great characters).
I adored seeing another side of Seb in this book!! He’s still a believable bad*ss, but also a guy who realizes he’s got a good thing and it takes work to keep that going.
One of my biggest pet peeves though, is that even when they get to a good relationship place and they’re solid and committed, and it’s clear they’re monogamous and have never cheated and only do the exhibitionist stuff for kicks – why does he keep calling her a ‘whore’ all the dang time? It was so frustrating to me and it really pulled me out of some great spicy scenes and ruined the headspace. I had to mentally replace the word for the second half of the book (and the whole 3rd book too).
We had a lot more spice in this book, which I adored and it was very well done. It didn’t feel repetitive, although you do start to feel (and the side characters will comment) that the main couple is just going at it like bunnies 3x a day. I’m alright with that though! That’s what I’m here for.
