Wight Mischief Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

A ghost of a chance at love.
Personal trainer Will Golding has been looking forward to a getaway with his best friend, Baz, a journalist researching a book on ghosts. But on the first day of their camping trip on the Isle of Wight, Will takes a walk on a secluded beach and spies a beautiful young man skinny-dipping by moonlight. Ethereally pale, he’s too perfect to be real—or is he?
Lonely author Marcus Devereux is just as entranced by the tall athlete he encounters on the beach, but he’s spent the years since his parents’ violent death building a wall around his heart, and the thought of letting Will scale it is terrifying. Marcus’s albinism gives him his otherworldly appearance and leaves him reluctant to go out in daylight, his reclusiveness encouraged by his guardian—who warns him to stay away from Will and Baz.
The attraction between Will and Marcus can’t be denied—but neither can the danger of the secrets haunting Marcus’s past, as one “accident” after another strikes Will and Baz. If they don’t watch their step, they could end up added to the island’s ghostly population.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Wight Mischief blends the paranormal with a good psychological thriller, then throws in a bit of romance to cap things off nicely. Merrow made it fun to imagine the Isle of Wight as a place the spirits might choose to reside."
--Top2Bottom Reviews

"This is a great book--it's got masses of humour and it's genuinely funny, the characterization is impeccable, the ghost stories and the descriptions of the Island are strong and vivid, and there's a real sense of menace in the final action-packed scenes."
--Reviews by Jessewave

"I had to stay up almost all night finishing this book. I absolutely could not put it down! Ms. Merrow has written a book that defines the term 'thriller.'"

I’m not sure how this doesn’t have more reviews. I don’t often leave them, but I thought it was a shame this book hasn’t gotten more love. This was a great story and I loved the main characters. Definitely worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book, although it was a bit different that what I had been expecting. Marcus was a great character and I really liked the way his background was filled in by other people, but not always directly. Sometimes I would think back, especially on one particular conversation, and realize it was actually about him. Baz was a character I really disliked, and the more I read, the more I disliked him. Since I liked Will so much, (he was a great guy and put up with so much from Baz, and Baz treated him so badly) I disliked Baz even more. By the ending, I pretty much knew what the situation was going to be, but it was nice and dramatic, which fit with the tone of the story. All in all, a really enjoyable book that I would definitely recommend!
