About the Author

Jackie North has been writing stories since grade school and spent years absorbing the mainstream romances that she found at her local grocery store. Her dream was to someday leave her corporate day job behind and travel the world. She also wanted to put her English degree to good use and write romance novels, because for years she's had a never-ending movie of made-up love stories in her head that simply wouldn't leave her alone.

As fate would have it, she discovered m/m romance and decided that men falling in love with other men was exactly what she wanted to write books about. In this dazzling new world, she turned her grocery-store romance ideas around and is now putting them to paper as fast as her fingers can type. She creates characters who are a bit flawed and broken, who find themselves on the edge of society, and maybe a few who are a little bit lost, but who all deserve a happily ever after. (And she makes sure they get it!)

She likes long walks on the beach, the smell of lavender and rainstorms, and enjoys sleeping in on snowy mornings. She is especially fond of pizza and beer and, when time allows, long road trips with soda fountain drinks and rock and roll music. In her heart, there is peace to be found everywhere, but since in the real world this isn't always true, Jackie writes for love.

A WOWmazing slow burn from Jackie North!

A WOWmazing slow burn from Jackie North!
A WOWmazing slow burn from Jackie North! Jackie North did it again! *hands down* First…she made me falling in love with Stanley and Devon from Heroes for Ghosts, then she made me also falling deeply in love with both Laurie and John from Honey from The Lion, and now…she did it again and succeed made me falling in love with Zach and Layton! If you’d reading Honey from The Lion and familiar with Laurie’s two best friend, Zach and Maxton that he left behind. This book is about Zach and his amazing journey back through the time to find his fate at old Texas land in 1892. This book come with a very good storyline and was beautifully written with the details that will amazed you and take you back to the old Texas where the cowboys and outlaws took actions. The believable slow burn this book had offer had made the emotional connections between the two main characters (and with Tam the horse!) feels standout and so intense. Wild As The West Texas Wind was a bit more intense than the previous book, but have nearly same tensions as the first book of this series. I was completely ‘blind’ and have this constant worries for what will happen to Zach since the first day he fell under Tom’s outlaws gang. Zach’s life suddenly changed when a storm and floods almost took his life and washed away his car and leave him stranded in a strange place alone. On his way to find his way back to the town he met with the outlaws gang that soon made his life upside down. Then come Layton, one of the gang member who Zach found slightly different with the others. In his struggle to stay alive in the whole strange situation that hit him since the storm, Layton’s had made him feels safe when his life was in uncertainty under the gang mercy. For a long time, Layton had a wished for a home, steady life and someone to share it with. When Zach suddenly stumbled to his life, the urge to protect the man from all the danger slowly build in him. Zach and his braveness had open his eyes from the 'invisible prison' Tom’s had build around him. Layton want to be free and lived the life he’d been dreaming of, a simply normal life with someone he love for the rest of his life, but now he pictured all of that with Zach in it. Zach was the reason that Layton was brave enough to do anything to make him safe even it’s mean he would risk his own life. And with all the uncertainty of their future together, will a wish upon a star sealed their fate? This book had consume me so deep and made it hard to put it down! Jackie North really know how to pleased the reader desires with her utterly beautiful story. Wild As The West Texas Wind is another amazing time travel romance from Jackie North that will melt your heart. So don’t you dare to miss it! "I'd do anything for you. I love you. If you want to leave and go roam the earth, we roam. If you want to stay and light kerosene lamps, then we light the lamps. I just want to be with you. I want to be your home." "You are," said Layton as he closed his eyes, and let his body rest in Zach's arms. "You are my home." Recommended!!

This series is pretty new to me. Books with historical aspects aren't always a favorite of mine, so that's probably why I had missed it, however I am so glad I have found it now! I think this book is my favorite of the series so far. (It has a tie in character to Honey from the Lion, so I recommend you read that first. Heroes for Ghosts was also great though not related to these other than by the overall time travel premise).

This book and the series are a little more slow burn and a little less heat than I usually read but I found I loved them regardless. It really fit with the flow and setting-I think if things had been faster it would have felt abrupt. The author does a great job of having the personalities/attitudes/mannerism and plenty of other details mesh perfectly with the time period, lots of what I felt were realistic glimpses into the past.

I love seeing MM related romantic time travel, and enjoyed the premise of how it happens here. I really like seeing the realizations that the characters come to over their adventure. Sometimes I got a little annoyed by the mental gymnastics they'd go through trying to justify what the heck was going on, but at the same time, I don't know if I'd do any better if it happened to me! I also enjoyed seeing this (and Honey from the Lion) in US based locations, so few of the time travel/historical books I have seen are set 'locally' so to speak...nothing wrong at all with other locations of course!, but really loved how this was set somewhere I feel more familiar with and feel like I can really see the geographics and settings well as I read.

Overall I really liked Zach and Layton. They each struggled with some things and that made them very human and relatable, both very appealing characters with different strengths-and characteristics...I can't help picturing especially Layton as a very sexy cowboy! I was not expecting quite how things played out towards the end and it was perfect. I also really loved how things came together at the final finish.
I will definitely be looking forward to more Love Across Time books!

Despite the fact that I don’t really care for time travel plots or sequels/series - boy, did this book win me over, thanks to its descriptive writing and emotive love story. Though, actually, when I bought this book, I didn’t realize it was a sequel to the first book, Honey from the Lion.

It's true to say that if I HAD read Honey from the Lion first, I would have had more understanding of the friendship between Laurie and Zack, and of the circumstance that put Laurie back in 1892. However, I consider it a point in the author’s favor that I was drawn into this story without having read the first book.

I loved that the author took her time creating the relationship between the m/c’s, Zack and Layton. Some of that is down to setting most of the plot in 1892, and Layton’s numbed emotional development, but the author really drew out a goodly amount of suspense and heat in the slow-burn way that their attraction grows. One thing I’m starting to dislike in m/m romances (and something I’ve always disliked in all romances) is insta-lust between two characters, followed by a lot of gushing about hard bodies and throbbing privates whenever they think about or are in the presence of each other. I prefer the tenderness of a slow-growing relationship over insta-lust, though, of course, insta-lust is also fine in its own way; it even has a place in some stories. Just not this one, and I’m thankful for that.

Having read Wild as the West Texas Wind, and not having read Honey from the Lion, I think this story could easily have worked if it was simply set in 1892. I mean that it didn't have to include time travel. Even as a 19th century person, Zack could still have been a frank, assertive character; a person who stands up to his kidnapper, and even be a more sexually-experienced person than Layton, without hurting their romance. The author didn’t need to make Zack come from the future to have these characteristics, so I don’t think the time-travel element is absolutely necessary. Actually I'm not sure that time travel even *enhances* the story. OK, I’ve admitted I don’t like time-travel, but even so, Zack’s missing hot showers, cell phones, and aspirin doesn't add anything, really. And just how does Zack get his 1892 letter delivered to his modern-day friend?

But for all the above, this is still a very good, well-told story and I enjoyed it, and I will definitely give this author another look, based on these things alone – even if her other books all involve time travel. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart racing intense ride. But so sweet
Reviewed in Canada on April 12, 2019
This is the 2nd book of Jackie North’s Love Across Time Story featuring Zach and Layton.
Zach received a letter from 1892 from his best friend who had disappeared months ago. He was devastated and kept looking for him when a freak storm sent him back to 1892, the year Laurie sent the letter.
Layton was a young man who was an unwilling part of the Ketchum Gang. He was sweet boy who just wanted a house to stay in and a permanent place to rest his head.
When Zach interrupts Tom Ketchum’s poker game, he is abducted and threatened to be sold to a brothel to make up for the lost money.
The story is a sweet slide into true love. It’s not a easy ride to the finish line. Layton has been programmed to rely only on Tom and Tom holds all the cards.
Zach refuses to back down and constantly fights against the bully Tom.
But like recognizes like and soon Zach sees the sweetness in Layton and he works on getting Layton out from under Tom’s thumb.
This book was intense. I spent a long time dreading the next chapter because I knew that Tom would be there. But I also wanted to see what happened.
Jackie North takes the time period and creates a plausible believable world. She doesn’t shoehorn modern day into the past. She lets it mingle and cooperate. I loved the pace of the story and I loved seeing Zach and Layton come together. It was one of the best romances I have read. It felt so real like it could happen to anyone.

If you like westerns, romance, and time travel, you have hit the trifecta.

Gah! This was incredible. Definitely Jackie North's best story yet in her Love Across Time series (all of which have been really great). I loved the action. I loved the believable slow-burn progression of the relationship. I loved Zach's strength of will and irrepressible spirit. I loved Tam and Layton's relationship with her! So sweet.

Jackie North continues to amaze me with her meticulous attention to historical detail and her authentic feel for period dialogue and description. You really get a good sense of the time and place. I felt immersed in the story and it was incredibly hard to put down. When I came to the end, I was sad to see that it was the last page. I love this world she has created and I want to get my greedy little hands on more stories featuring these characters.

This bit below made my heart melt:

"If you want to leave and go roam the earth, we roam. If you want to stay and light kerosene lamps, then we light the lamps. I just want to be with you. I want to be your home."

3.75 stars.🌟 A follow on book from book two What happened to Laurie?
Zach is trying to find his freind but gets time traveled back to 1892. The start of this is great but furthur in I may have skimmed the boring bits. It definitely pays to keep on Tom's good side, he's meen SOB.  The ending was a dramatic one but it all works out in the end. I would surgest reading this in book order to know who Laurie is.

    Past 1892:
Layton was a member of the Ketchum Gang that robbed people for their gold. But he dreamed of better things for himself and wanted to get away from the gang.
    Present,
Zach 24 yrs had received a letter dating back in May from his missing friend, Laurie. Things didnt add up which made Zach curiosity and worry peek. Who was John? And what Hotel.

I just love time travel romance and this one did not disappoint! Thrown back into 1892, Zach had to contend with the band of outlaws that were determined to sell him. What he didn't figure on was Layton, pressed into outlaw service, wanting what Zach wanted. Zach was there searching for his friend Laurie. Will the leader of the outlaw band, Tom win, or will Zach and Layton. Lots of suspense, a truly great time travel story.
