Winter's Wallflower (The Wicked Winters Book 8) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 3,211 ratings

He’s the lord of London’s underworld. She’s the lady who deceived him. And now, there will be hell to pay…

Dominic Winter rules his empire with cutthroat determination, his heart as cold and dead as the January ground. Debts must be paid. Men must be loyal. Anyone who defies him will suffer the consequences, including the indolent aristocrats who frequent his establishments.

When a beauty boldly ventures into his lair and strikes a bargain with him to save an unworthy lord, Dom is captivated. Though his instincts tell him she cannot be trusted, soon, he will do anything to make her his. Until she disappears.

Desperate to save her beloved brother from ruin—or worse—at the hands of the despicable Mr. Winter, Lady Adele Saltisford offers herself in exchange. But one night of unexpected passion leaves her with dire consequences. Torn between her dangerous attraction to Dom and loyalty to her family, Adele flees London.

It doesn’t take Dom long to discover the depth of her betrayal and give chase. This time, nothing and no one will stop him from claiming her. It’s crime lord versus duke’s daughter in a battle of the heart.

The eighth in Wicked Winters series does not disappoint. From the first page to the last Winter's Wallflower will keep your attention from the moment you begin the journey with Adele and Dom until the very end. It unfolds beautifully as it weaves a storty from beginning to end with threads of intrigue, illegitimate Winter siblings, and lethal rivalry. In the East End there's a gaming hell called The Devil's Spawn run by the most dangerous crime lord, Dominic Winters and his siblings. Dom is tall, dark, and dangerous, 100% alpha male. Adele is considered a wallflower, but to save her brother she will have to find an inner strength to face the devil incarnated, Dominic Winters.
Scarlett Scott has given readers a book that is well-written and well-paced, filled it with great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, sizzling passion, heartfelt dialogue with an enjoyable plot that brings this read together perfectly!

Loved Dominic Winter. He has all the badassness (is that a word?) of a man who grew up in the rookery. One who lived a hard life and fought his way to survive and succeed, with all the scars to prove it. Adele is the daughter of a duke, although a twin, she has always let her twin be the outgoing, vivacious one. Adele has always taken the back seat, been the quiet one, the rule follower, the wallflower, until she discovers her brother was beaten apparently for owing gambling debts.

She secretly visits the gaming hell and boldly insists on speaking with the owner (Dominic Winter). I love that even when he dismisses her, she shows bravery and courage to continue to fight for the brother she loves. I love that Dominic quickly realizes there is so much more to her than he initially thought. The connection between them is strong and eventually, both admit their love for the other.

If I have any complaints, it's that it ended too soon. I wanted more. I wanted to know what ultimately happened with the relationship between the illegitimate and legitimate Winter siblings. I wanted to know what happened with Adele's father, the duke, and her family ... Did they finally accept Dominic? How did that transpire? How were they received in society? Did they even attend society events? All we get, after they admit their love, and the immediate danger and threat to him, his businesses and his siblings is dealt with through help from his legitimate half brother, is an epilogue taking place years later where a happy home life is displayed with their three children and Adele expecting their fourth.

This is the 8th in The Wicked Winters series so I've obviously missed a few. Definitely going to look into the others. The next one deals with Evie (Adele's twin) and Devil Winter (from the illegitimate branch and Dominic's right hand and body guard). Looking forward to this one...Devil is going to be interesting. He's a handsome man, but with a scary countenance; a man of few words, rarely speaking but still managing to make his displeasure known.

I've only read one other story in the series and wasn't lost. I have them on my wish list hoping they go on sale.

The story starts out with a crime lord holding debts on the h's brother. The h comes to the H and gives herself in exchange for his hold on her brother. Oh what a tangled web of deceit - of course not is all as it seems for the H or h.

The H has had a very hard life as you learn along with the H what has transpired and made him who he is. The h brings out something in the H that he isn't familiar with - a caring heart. I felt the romance build in this story and you will cheer this couple on.

As the blurb states this is steamy - heat level 5 out of 5 so trust the author when she states it's steamy. Also, crude language and the Lord's name used a lot.

My favorite part was near the end. The h discovers something that was withheld from her and doesn't run away. She listens to the H instead of her father - loved the honest dialogue. We are also treated to a sweet epilogue that warmed my heart.

No cheating, no cliffhanger for our couple, HEA, romance and bedroom door wide opened. (ljb)

Winter’s Wallflower is book number 8 of the Wicked Winters series by Scarlett Scott. It is definitely a stand-alone but if you had the pleasure of reading other books in the series, be excited to know that this one starts exploring the illegitimate Winter siblings. Floating Hell, this book is one fast-paced and exciting story!

Dominic Winter is the fearsome king of the London underground. He has survived and thrived by living a disciplined life of cold, calculating ferocity. When Lady Adele forces her way into his life, she never even tells him her name, but he is captivated by her. Adele is driven by a desire to protect her brother from the danger of his own vices. She pushes herself far outside her comfort zone to break the rules of propriety, and when she does she finds that Dominic is irresistible to her There is plenty of plot divulged in the blurb and other reviews, so I’m not going to take up your time by writing about that. I do want to tell you that they are interesting, multidimensional characters who richly deserved a happy ending. The epilogue was so special. I can’t wait to get books on each of the illegitimate Winter half-siblings.

I was going to give it a 4.5 because there were areas where I just wanted more, but then I realized it is advertised as a novella and so I really can’t complain at all. For a novella, Scarlett Scott really managed to fit a lot into the story. An excellent quick read!

    💋💋

If you liked the original Winters series your going to love the bastard Winters.
These guys make the others look tame by comparison.

Dom is the head of the family and seems to rule with an iron hand, as he loves his side of the family, he equally hates the legitimate side. Devereaux feels the same about him.
Their main enemy is a character called Jasper Sutton but to know more of him you’ll have to read the book.

Dom’s character and all his family are so well thought out , you can almost start plotting the next book in your head . Devil,Gavin,Blade,Genevieve and Demon. Great names dont you think?

Anyway Lady Adele is the Daughter of a Duke and her brother is up to his eyeballs in debt to Dom . Adele thinks to pay of his debt in the age old fashion using her body and her innocence, Dom can’t refuse can he , it would be rude to look such a gift horse in the mouth.
So begins the tale of complete infatuation for Dom , he must find the woman that has consumed his mind. Except he thinks he’s looking for the brothers mistress not the sister.

Your going to love this book , it’s so good , so full of passion ,fun and tension, the characters will grow on you throughout and by the end you’ve been totally claimed by the new batch of Winters.
    Give me more please.

I had expected a bit more...more chemistry, something more in the storyline. May be because it is a short story certain things were left short. It is a quick read and good for that.

Scarlett has excelled herself with this story of opposites attract. I loved how Adele the quiet twin came into her own with Dominic Winter the crime lord. I do love a good anti hero story and this one was excellent. Waiting for the next in the series.
