About the author

Thanks very much for taking the time to look at my Lynne North page. This means you must have been checking out my books. That is good, because I would love you to read them.
If you like a good laugh, my children's humorous fantasy novels, "Caution: Witch in Progress" and "Be Careful What You Wish For" deserve a read (if I may say so myself). If you prefer Sword and Sorcery fantasy, then "Zac's Destiny" is for you.
Maybe you would like something to chill your soul? If so, check out "Unlucky For Some", my adult compilation of macabre Twist in the Tale offerings out on Kindle worldwide, neither for children or the faint hearted!
Have you read 'Emily and the Enchanted Wood' yet? This is a heart warming short fantasy tale. Emily lives in the quiet village of Oak Haven with her Mum, Dad and her lovely dog, Toby. Her life is a happy and peaceful one, but there is more to Emily than meets the eye. The young girl has a very strong connection with animals, one that becomes even more apparent when she enters the wood that lies just outside the village.
Strange things happen in the wood, and Emily isn’t convinced whether the wood has magical powers, or even if she herself has special abilities. Whatever the reason, life is never quite the same when she is there.
Emily’s problems really begin when she discovers that goblins have come to her precious wood. They are making the woodland creatures’ lives a misery, and seem intent on staying.
Not if Emily can help it ...
The next addition to my published books was my children's humorous fantasy, 'Be Careful What You Wish For', published on St Patrick's Day 2016 and gaining some great 5 star reviews!
‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ is a humorous fantasy novel for children of nine years of age and older. Finn is a bored young leprechaun. He wants something exciting to happen, but never having been blessed by the Good Luck Fairy, he soon gets far more than he bargained for. Finn finds himself a long way from home in dire circumstances. Home begins to seem very appealing all of a sudden. Has he any hope of getting back? This is no fairy tale…
This funny and fast moving story filled by weird and wonderful characters will turn all your expectations on their head, but that’s a good thing, because it makes them all the more amusing.
Are you a fan of Role-Play gamebooks? I have written two of those too. 'The Chalice of Jupiter' and 'Pirate's Peril'. Can you survive? Why not check them out...
In 2019 I also released a companion guide to Caution: Witch in Progress. 'Gertie's Guide to Nature's Cures' is both an educational and fun book for children, introducing them to the amazing cures and remedies available in nature! Well worth a look.
To get you right up to date, I released the first two books of my children's astrology series in 2020. 'You're An Aries' and 'You're A Taurus'. More to follow soon!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2016I was lucky enough to get to get an advanced reader copy of this story. Lynne knows I have grandchildren who have loved her past novels, such as Caution: Witch in Progress, and Zac’s Destiny. I may be an adult, (an adult plus some) but I’m still a child at heart. Who wouldn’t enjoy a story about an unlucky leprechaun?
Finn is a young Leprechaun with an adventurous heart. He wants to find a way out of their boring little village and see what the big world is like. Only it’s not such a safe place for an unlucky leprechaun like himself. He gets into a big jam when he finds himself captured and put on exhibition for a traveling show. But can he find a way to escape and get back home again?
Back home, his best friend is lonely and scared for Finn. He demands to be taken along when Finn’s father decides to go out searching. There are a lot of lessons to be learned here for our own children, because let’s face it, they all tend to reach an age where they get bored and think there is more excitement to be found outside their safe homes. Finn gets out of one jam only to find himself right back in another. And on the other side, his friends and family run into their own problems while trying to find and rescue him. I can’t imagine any child (or big child) who won’t enjoy this wonderful tale.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2017WOW where do I start?
First I was given a copy for a honest review.
While this is more of a children/young adult book I enjoyed it. I am now 30 and loved it now I even had my 8 year old read it and she was obsessed with it.
Finn is a young Leprechaun with an adventurous heart who reminds me of my youngest child whom is very adventurous lol.
Finn finds himself in a mess and needs to get out of this jam can he do it and still be the same adventurous Leprechaun he always was or will it ruin him for good?
No sooner Finn gets out of one jam he gets himself into another seems to be the story of poor Finns life. (My youngest and Finn must be twins!)
This book everyone will love and enjoy. All ages if you have a weekend to just kick back and enjoy a good adventure I would highly recommend this amazing book! (Lucky charms would be a great snack.)
5 stars all the way around. Myself, my daughter and another reviewer on my team all agree this would be the perfect book to end your summer vacation no matter your age.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2016Finn is a young, unlucky leprechaun boy. Like most boys, he longs for adventure, but the results are not what he anticipated. After being kidnapped and placed on display in a freak show, he's had more than enough adventure, and like Dorothy in Oz he just wants to go home. Accomplishing that goal is going to call for a lot of courage and ingenuity, as he experiences one setback after another. This would be an especially great story for a pre-teen boy, but this seventy-something granny enjoyed it also.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2017Be Careful What You Wish For is an exciting tale that takes readers on a eventful adventure with a naive little leprechaun that learns the grass is not always greener on the other side.
Finn is a leprechaun that longs for adventure, but when he is kidnapped by a travelling circus and made to perform in a freak show, he realizes his seemingly boring life wasn't so bad after all.
Well written and filled with vivid detail, Be Careful What You Wish For is certain to become a favorite among middle grade readers. The fast paced action will easily capture their attention and keep them hooked until they learn Finn's fate in the final pages.
I highly recommend picking up a copy.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2016Such a delightful adventure for the young adult reader. Finn is an endearing leprechaun who always dreams of having adventures like his hero Bleary O-Leary, but he finds out the hard way that familiarity, friends, family and security are ultimately more important than the unknown. This is a nail-biting tale that will have you rooting for little Finn and an unusual dog that will surprise you. Beautifully told in flowing prose and a must-read for every young reader who loves an exciting adventure with a little bit of magic. There is actually a moral in this story too - as the title says, Be Careful What You Wish For...
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2016A lovely children's humorous fantasy novel with fun characters, a good story that keeps the reader's interest both for the young and young at heart.
