Wish Me Home: An MM Holiday Romance Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 172 ratings

All Emmett Butler wants is to get home to the aunt who raised him, but a Chicago snowstorm and handsome flight attendant Cody Summers might change his plans.

Cody is content to fly for the holidays, but taking this year off seems like a good idea. When he meets Emmett, he just wants to see him smile, especially if it helps to distract him from his own family issues.

With the right Christmas wish, and some airplane shenanigans, can the two discover the true meaning of home?

Wish Me Home is a standalone Christmas novella that features a grumpy airline passenger just trying to get home and a sunshiny flight attendant determined to help him have a great Christmas; even if he doesn't realize that he's part of what's needed to make that perfect Christmas happen.

Amazingly Sweet Holiday Romance

Amazingly Sweet Holiday Romance
It’s been a while since I’ve read a really good sweet contemporary M/M romance… and this holiday novella really hit the spot! If anyone know me, they know I only read Dark Angsty Romance but this sweet book really made me smile! I loved Cody and Emmett… the fact they were so different was what made them so good together. They pulled smiles and “Awww!”s out of me I didn’t realize I still had. The spice was on point and this story was so genuine and real! If you’re looking for something pretty quick to read to cleanse your palate between those dark romances… this is the one especially during the holiday season!

Wish Me Home is such a heartwarming holiday story. Cody and Emmett meet at the airport and sparks immediately fly. There’s A TON of chemistry between them and through their encounter, they fall in love and wonder if more is possible.

This is sunshine/grump tropes with age gap, and I think Joelle did an amazing job depicting the characters circumstances and personalities. I fell in love with Emmett right from the start, and was lured in by Cody’s three-dimensional emotions. He was more than just the sunshine of the duo.

The story deals with some difficulties in family matters, but also has so many touching moments. Overall, it was such a fun read and my only compliant is wishing I could read more of them!

This was such a cute read! I freaking adored Cody and Emmett together. Cody was a ray of sunshine who brought grumpy Emmett out of his shell. Their hook up scenes were hot, there are several swoon worthy moments, and the theme of getting home for the holidays was meaningful to both characters through out.

I loved the Teddy Bear scene!!

Seriously, I adored Cody so much that I hope to see him make cameo appearances in Joelle's books anytime an airplane or airport is involved!

If you are looking for a fun and quick holiday read make sure you give this one a go.

Wish Me Home is a sweet Christmas love story. Emmett's annoyed to be snowed in at the airport, and Cody is a flight attendant who was supposed to be working his last flight before vacation. When Cody approaches Emmett, he's charmed by the grumpy traveller, and determined to pull him out of his bad mood. They spend the night wandering around the airport and Emmett can't help being taken with Cody. Sparks fly as they give in to their attraction to each other, and they're not ready to let go when they fly home. Can they really build a relationship off of a chance meeting? Beautiful story of finding love when they weren't even looking. Loved this story!

Wish Me Home by Joelle Lynne is a lovely story about complete strangers who meet by chance and fall in love. It is romantic, with a smidge of angst and a beautifully happy ending.

This book started out really strong, and I absolutely loved Emmett and Cody in the first part of the story. I think their time stuck in the airport was written so well. However it was almost half the book which made the pacing of the story feel off. Also I feel like once they left the airport Cody’s personality really changed. He was all sunshine in the beginning but then he turned into a major grump. So instead of grumpy/sunshine it was just grumpy/grumpy.

This story also just felt incomplete to me and the ending seemed abrupt. I know it’s a novella but that doesn’t mean it should feel a little unfinished. The whole story of Cody’s family seemed weird and like it was an afterthought. It seemed like it was quickly written just to add drama.

This gets three stars because I loved the first half of the book, even though the second half was disappointing.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

This story is a perfect Christmas tale, it has everything you'd need, snowstorm stranding people at the airport, two young men, a budding romance?, Christmas with a wonderful aunt, New Year with cold, aloof, judgemental parents, Christmas lights that don't work, teddy bears, oh I could go on, this is such a gorgeous read, the author nailed it with this one.

While I normally love her books I am unfortunately a little torn about this one.
I love the grumpy/sunshine trope and I really liked the characters in the beginning. Cody had so much golden retriever energy it was really cute. And Emmett was the classic grump who didn’t want anything to with anyone, especially strangers. However I felt like the characters changed during the book and kind of started running a little hot and cold with each other which I found a little confusing to be honest.

Nearly 50% of the book is about the one/two days they spend at the airport which I personally thought was too much. And then the other half was rather rushed. Thus their relationship developed rather quickly. I wished it would have been more elaborated.

The thing I liked was that Emmett supported Cody unconditionally in every aspect. And I really liked Emmetts aunt. She was such a loving whirlwind. And they way she welcomed Cody in the family was so sweet. Obviously their Happy End was really cute as well 💖

So all in the book was easy to read and overall okay.
But you know, this is just my opinion and maybe you will like this more than I did. 🤗

[I received an digital arc and this is my honest opinion]

💕 A short little sweet story that shows you instant connections sometimes really shouldn’t be ignored.
A minor age gap that really shouldn’t make any difference. 2 varying family dynamics - one loving and one distant. Truly enjoyed this little holiday special.
