Again Holly gets drawn into another murder mystery as she tries to get her potions license approved. Unfortunately some casualties on the human side as well, but I kinda figured Nick was heading this direction anyway. A grand dust up between witches and Vampires also figures into this twisted little tale. More to come I see?

By now, Holly is used to living in Beechwood Harbor, but would really like to get her Master potion's license. Her trial is finally here and Teddy (Evangeline's lawyer friend) is fairly confident that it will go well. Harvey is going to speak on her behalf, and finally Holly should get her license and be able to make potions legally. If only things went according to plans! Harvey disappears during the trial before he gets a chance to speak. One of the council members is nasty and convinces the council to deny Holly's license. Heartbroken, Holly and Teddy try to get ahold of Harvey to find out where he went and what can be done. Only nobody knows where Harvey is.

Holly ends up with another murder to solve in the name of friendship. Along the way some astonishing discoveries make Holly and Teddy understand the council's decision. Never giving up the fight, Holly seeks to establish her innocence and deserving of the license. When back in Beechwood Harbor the vindictive council member comes to town and releases horror on Holly's friend.

This is an action packed mystery that Holly manages to put the puzzle pieces together, just not quite in time. I appreciated the author's descriptive words and shifting locations to make it such an exciting book. It certainly had twists and turns that kept this reader anxiously reading to find out how things end! A good book in an excellent series about supernatural beings.

When Holly finally decides, and is able to, petition the witch council for her Master Potion license, her case worker, Harvey, says he’ll back her up. When he leaves the room and doesn’t come back, nobody knows why. Along with that, the council denies her petition.
Can Holly and friends figure out what’s going on?

Started reading this series because it felt like information was missing from the spin-off ghost whisperer series, however book 4 and only one reference to the ghost support meetings. Still the stories are lighthearted and relaxing.

Poor Nick, well at least he knows about the supernatural. And now he can be a part of it. I knew she would get her licence.

How Holly manages to get herself into these situations is beyond me. This time the victim is Harvey, her SPA case worker and something really feels off. Harvey was more connected than Holly knew. He had a lot of enemies. But someone also seems to have an agenda against Holly and the deeper she looks into that, the closer to the truth she gets. Oh and Nick is having dreams about the raid on the Raven.

I love seeing Holly back in action along with her makeshift family. Learning how much confidence Harvey had in Holly really endeared him to me. Cant wait for the next one!

I like how there's the right amount of cozy mystery and magic, I love that Holly and Adam are still together and that Holly managed to get her potion masters license. However I wish that Nick hadn't become a shifter even if I wanted him to find out about the magical side of things.
