The Witch's Seal: The Ellwood Chronicles Prequel Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 538 ratings

Ailin~
The demon gate needs to be sealed, at least from higher level demons. I may be the most powerful witch in the world right now, but I know I can’t do it alone. No one wants to help and risk their lives for the greater good, not that I can blame them, really. It kills me to ask my boyfriend, Emrys, but I suck it up because his magic is nearly as powerful as my own. He doesn’t want to help at first, but let’s just say I can be very persuasive.

Emrys~
Maybe he should’ve listened to me, maybe we never should’ve gone to the gate. Terrible things unfold, and Ailin and I are torn apart, our love ripped to shreds. My life is forever changed, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

In
The Witch’s Seal, you’ll discover some secrets from Ailin, Emrys, and even Alec. Find out what really happened between Ailin and Emrys before the events in The Enchanter’s Flame took place, but it's recommended that you read Book 1 first.

***
The Witch’s Seal is the prequel in The Ellwood Chronicles series. It contains explicit material and is intended for mature adults 18 and over.***

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.

She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

I am four books in and have never had a series gut punch me like this one has. Each book has ripped my soul out and put it back together. I am in awe of the character build and the MCs it's a wonderful treat wrapped up in a box of tissues 💙

Well this is a prequel to the first book I recommend reading it after you read the first in the series or it will spoil some of the items. This book does shed light on items that happened in the first of the series and it help set up a good story line for the second. My heart aches for Emrys and the situation he was in. And I'm intrigued by this new Julius character. I like that they brought in more supernatural type characters and we got to learn more about Ailin's family.

In the first of the series I had issues with the style of writing where it was to repetitive with the dialogue a d prose, but this book seemed too clean up those writing "distractions" for me.

I’m not sure what’s better: reading this first, or reading The Enchanter’s Flame first. I read The Enchanter’s Flame first, read some other stuff, then came back to The Witch’s Seal, and now I feel like I should re-read Enchanter’s Flame before continuing on with the series.
My favorite part of this book is the look into Emrys’ past. I suppose it was good to be introduced to him from the same place as Sebastian - knowing only that he was Ailin’s ex and that he hurt Ailin. If I’d read this story first, then I would have had a lot more sympathy for Emrys (though it was pretty clear that SOMETHING happened which wasn’t explained). So ultimately, I guess it’s best to read this book second in order to get the full range of emotion.

This is a m/m paranormal modern suspense romance ; though this is a “prequel” to the series, it should be read after book one. Although it fills the gap and answers the question of Lin and Ems previous relationship, it also left so much out. Perhaps the answers will come in the next book.

I'm glad someone told me to read this after book 1, or some of those events wouldn't have hit the same way they did by reading this after. It was a fun prequel, and it was nice to see multiple points of view. That was my main issue with book 1. I needed to see more of Ailins side to get a better understanding of what was going on.

Going into this from the first book is very clever. Emrys is actually not the bad guy he seems and Ailin is getting a bit murky because he is and has been keeping secrets from Sebastian (and you just know Seb is gonna be pissed once he finds out).

This is a great teaser and it sets up the next book very well.

Passion, intrigue, heartbreak and hope all flow through this amazing and complicated story. Amazing world-building. Wow, i knew there had to be something extraordinary going on with the complicated relationship between Ailin and Emry, but this exceeded my expectations. Really sad, but i guess necessary to make room for their soul mates.

This is so well written and the characters are so powerfully drawn that you are immersed into the story immediately. i feel the pain and sadness, the love and hope and the sense of wonder of this amazing world.

I am absolutely hooked with this amazing series! i am ready for the next book and i know i have to wait until 2019 but i will try to be patient!

This cleared up so many things. I enjoyed getting to know the characters a little more deeply. A fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Prequel
Reviewed in Australia on October 7, 2024
The Author had a request on Amazon that this prequel should not be read before book 1 of the series. I thought that strange but as I had already read book 1 it didn’t bother me. I just wanted everything available in this series. I was already hooked. Now I understand. Reading this book first would have spoilt some of the suspense that built up in the first book. Not only that having read it first made this one all the more poignant. It is masterful timing that lifts two great reads to even higher levels. A great move by a great author.

This is the prequel to the main story and I do enjoyed it but I felt it's been a bit short. This why I only can give 4 stars
