- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2017OK first off Ethan redeemed himself of being the biggest douche. And I love how Susie threw that word "douche" into his amazing story a few times lo!!! She laughed at me when I tagged him as a major douche in the first book. So happy, redemption for the douche.
This story starts off where book one left off but at the wedding of his ex and him proclaiming love for her still. The next day tragic happens....then everything starts spiraling out of control with twists and truths pouring out.
We meet Amy a nurse and it's insta-love!! Her and her daughter Bailey move in with Ethan to take care of him. Bonds are forged and a family starts to emerge.
Then we go into dealing with a web of lies, betrayal, and lots of truths and twists. Let me tell you this book had everything I want in a brilliantly written story. This book had hot as hell sex scenes, fast paced storyline, lol moments and was just awesomely told.
This book just came out today and I devoured it!! Can't wait for Mason's story and hopefully more twists revealed and resolved. Love how we are getting glimpses from past characters and meeting new ones. So worth the wait.....thank you Susie for keeping me entertained.
Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2017With a Beat of my Heart is the second book in the Loving Lily Series by S.J. Batsford. I strongly recommend reading the book, In the Blink of an Eye first, where we are introduced to Ethan. Once again S.J. Batsford delivers a story that grabs you from the beginning, and leaves you desperate for more. I'm looking forward to the rest of the Loving Lily series.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2021I chose this rating because I felt it could of had a better story line. I'm glad things worked out for everyone.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2017When you meet Ethan in book 1 you fall in love with him but also want to string him up.
He is that book boyfriend that in his book you melt over.
Amazing read. I need Mason and Niles book yesterday.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2017Let me start by saying that you absolutely need to read 'In the blink of an eye' book one first to be able to appreciate everything Ethan has gone and still has to go through in this book.
I disliked Ethan in the first book and i have to say i did not feel particularly enamoured with him at the start of this book either but that is where the beauty lies, because he was a complex character to understand but his growth and development in this story was astounding.
At the lowest point in his life he meets Amy & Bailey. Now Amy was a brilliant character, no nonsense, feisty, caring and very protective. I loved the way she was with Ethan, and he her, i loved the connection and i truly felt it down to my bones. Their relationship was amazing and i i knew that this was who he had been waiting for. She shone and she made Ethan better, and i was so relieved and happy toes him become who we hoped he could be.
I loved the incorporation of the other characters and the children, this lightened the whole book for me.
S. J Batsford's writing has developed significantly since her initial book and the writing flowed well and was very engaging from the start and i am certainly eager to see how everything plays out for future characters. I do not want to spoil anything about the storyline but i will just say i appreciated how there was no quick fix to the situation that Ethan was in- this made the whole thing much more realistic to read.
Before i finish i want to just shout out to my favourite character which was Bailey...to me she made the book, she was so well written and she was truly special and my heart went out to her completely...the scenes between her & Ethan were some of the best i have read- writing in general I'm sure is difficult, writing children's characters a whole other ball game and S.J. Batsford did it really well.
So did i like Ethan in the end- for sure i did- absolutely!
So thank you and here's to the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2022This book picks up with Ethan’s side of the story. Before you get settled grab your wine, tissues and a warm blanket. Taking a deeper look into everything that happened between Lily and Ethan and Ethan and Ashley will make your heartbreak for all that’s happened. Ethan learns the true meaning of family and love while finding himself. Can Ethan overcome all his past mistakes and make his new relationship work or will his past continue to haunt him?
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2017****SOME SPOILERS****
This is the 2nd book in the Loving Lily Series I strongly suggest that you read In The Blink Of An Eye first to get to know the character's.
This book is has so many different feelings packed into it and loads of hot sex scenes. For the people that have read the 1st book Ethan was betrayed as such a bad guy and you may think that he is getting what he deserves.
Ethan is at the lowest point in his life having to face things that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. His wife has screwed him over big time making him give up the woman that he loved Lily. As the book goes on the betrayal and lies gets worse for Ethan. The only light in his life are his kids that he adores and his family. Enters Amy and she is his saving grace but Amy comes with a little girl called Bailey. Ethan and Amy have loads of ups and downs to face. Amy also has a major problem of her own to battle. She hasn't got the best track record when it comes to her choice of men.
When Ethan and Lily's relationship comes to light how will Amy take it?
Will they be strong enough to survive everything that is thrown in their path?
Will the get their HEA?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by S
Another great book by S.J. Batsford. I adore this series and its characters.
Ethan wasn't exactly the perfect gentleman with his previous behavior, but, as with all good tales, this wasn't without reason. Now we get to see Ethan's side of the story and see where his path leads.
In this book, the second in the Loving Lily series, we are reunited with our old friends once again.
This time we read from Ethan's POV and get to hear his side of some of the events from book 1, we also get to see him fall in love and risk his heart again in the aftermath of Ashley's destructive and manipulative relationship with him.
I loved this book, getting to catch up with the characters and their lives and to see how much the babies have all grown. It was like a wonderful reunion and a whole new story combined.
If you've not read book 1, you seriously need to because book 2 is just as amazing.
I couldn't stop reading once I'd started.
