They are even more unprepared for the monsters they find inside the man’s mind. Drawn into a memory where it’s hard to figure out where the truth exists, they realize that there may be more to the serial killer than they originally thought. The dark world draws the two men together in a way they never dreamed.

It will take everything Chevy and Seneca can give to stop the darkness that could consume their minds. As the two are forced to face what is keeping them apart, together they realize that there’s more to the mind and heart than either of them know.

An intriging story.
Wow what an amazing story this was. This was my first foray into reading a psychic story and let me tell you I was absolutely amazed how great it was.Chevy has a gift that allows him to reach into other peoples minds and his side kick is Seneca his Police partner and best friend. The banter these two have going on is so funny. This story was very intense and all the twists and turns certainly keeps you on your feet.

    This book is definitely one that kept me engaged once the main storyline kicked in. The characters are developed throughout the book, and the writing is smoothly done.

    Some people in this world are born with "gifts." Recently, these gifts have begun to be recognized by the courts. Chevy tested with a very strong level at the first round of testing at the age of five. He is able to touch a person, find a specific memory, and watch it unfold. Secretly, they have been using him since he was a child. But, now he is a detective, and they have assigned him a partner.

    Seneca's gift is borrowing other people's gifts. The last gifted person he has touched, he gains the use of their gift. In this way, he is able to go into people's minds with Chevy and be a witness to what is seen. Seneca is cocky and a huge flirt, and he has his sights set on Chevy. Unfortunately for him, Chevy resists him with everything he has, because he doesn't do one night stands.

    Normally the MCs work with victims to solve crimes. However, they have been asked to do something entirely different with their talents. There is a serial killer in custody, but the officials believe there may be more victims they have not found that may yet be alive. When Chevy and Seneca enter his mind, they learn that they are facing a gifted man who might possibly kill them within his own mind.

    The story twists and turns, and danger and suspense are around every thought. But Chevy begins to understand the way the man's mind and gift work, and he is able to start using this knowledge to his advantage.

    During this investigation, it is necessary for Chevy to enter Seneca's mind. He finally learns why Seneca is afraid of relationships, and proves that the events from his past were not his fault alone. Once Seneca accepts this, he tells Chevy that he wants a relationship with him. This caused Chevy's final walls to crumble, and they begin to change the dynamics of their friendship.

    Overall, although Seneca's flirtatious attitude got on my nerves a bit, the banter between the MCs is quite entertaining. The suspense level was just right, and some might even call this a thriller. I enjoyed it very much, and it was definitely worth the read.

    Let me just say Wow! For my reviews I usually start with a brief summary of the book, then go into my likes and/or dislikes, then on to whether I would recommend the book or not. But this book I just want to jump straight into how much I loved it. Doing this all out of order. This book had it all, Suspense, Laugh out loud - make you snort moments, romance - sweet and friendly harrassment type, edge of the seat - what's next moments, and you can't put it down until you are finished kind of book. I just wanted to fangirl the whole time I was reading it. Wanting to explain why I'm wiggling in my seat, tapping my foot, reading with the lights on, snickering, laughing and yelling at my screen, from one moment to the next, every time someone asks what's the matter. I would so recommend this book and can't wait to talk to anyone who has. I will be reading it again, and hoping for more of these two characters. This is my first book by this author and I will be looking at her back log of books and keeping an eye out for whatever she has coming next. Ok so now that I'm done fangirling, on to the rest of my review. Chevy and Seneca are part of a special detective group that uses their gift to help victims find their attackers and get justice. Chevy with his gift to go into the memories of victims to see what they did during the attack in more detail. Seneca's gift is a mimic, so he can copy others gifts that he touches. Working as a team for years has added to the partners banter. Leaning more towards friendly harrassment per Chevy. Seneca is a people person, liked by everyone, and like all in return. Complete comic relief in this book. Chevy is awkward with people, but with a quick wit, sarcasm and enough snark to hold his own with Seneca. Chevy and Seneca are asked to use their gift on a serial killer to help find the remaining victims before it's to late. What follows is not what they are expecting. Things go wrong, very wrong. Memories are not memories but much worse, a living nightmare. Not knowing what is real or what is fake, they fight for survival, relying on each other to make it out. Pulse pounding, edge of your seat suspense, mixed in with laughter and sweet moments. Complete page turner. Definite must read. Would I recommend this book? YES!! Will I be reading it again? Yes. This is an Author to watch.

    Un peu comme avec les mutants de Marvel sans le côté chasse aux sorcières, les humains nés avec un talent en plus sont identifiés selon ce don et répertoriés par catégories.

    Ainsi Chevy peut voyager dans l’esprit des gens et visiter leurs souvenirs, 'diagnostiqué’ jeune, son don a rapidement été exploité par les forces de l’ordre, c’est ainsi qu’il s’est retrouvé enquêteur.
    Tout comme Seneca qui est devenu son binôme, un autre surdoué.
    Entre eux s’est instauré une relation amicale entre drague et boutade. Chevy rêverait de plus avec Seneca mais celui-ci est un papillon qui passe d’une conquête à l’autre sans jamais s’attacher.

    Maintenant les voilà embarqués dans une enquête qui va les mettre face à la noirceur de l’homme, les confronter à leurs propres peurs face à un coupable des plus troublant qui joue avec les faux-semblants. Cette investigation palpitante va mettre à l’épreuve leurs dons et tester leur amitié.

    Un des points forts de cette histoire est que les personnages se connaissent déjà, qu’ils ont un relation oscillant entre le professionnel, une amitié de loin et les non-dits que chacun garde pour soi tout en voulant plus. Donc cette affaire va bouger les lignes et j’ai apprécié comment leur relation va évoluer en même temps que l’enquête progresse.

    I forgot how much I enjoyed the Chevy and Seneca. They both have gifts and work for the police partners force. Chevy can go into someones mind to see their memories and Seneca has the ability to mimic gifts, so he mimics Chevy's. They work on a new case of a serial killer Mason Page. They go into his mind, but he uses his gift to mess with their heads.

    I loved the relationship between Chevy and Seneca. There was sexual harassment, snark, and sexual chemistry full throttle. I loved the easy banter between the to. They have such different personalities, but they just work so well together. They had both been through horrible events when they were younger, which we see when Page messes with their heads. They work well together in, and out of the bedroom. They have some really funny moments together, then big heartfelt moments too. They just work! The sex wax great between them, that build up of sexual tension just exploded.

    I loved the bad guy. He sounds scary as all hell in the narration. It just really freaks you out. Page's gift it used so well here and is really though through well. When you get to know more about him, you will start to understand and maybe feel a bit sorry for him. This book is worth a read and so is the next one too.

Wonderful characters immersed in a very complex and twisted plot, with little hints of friends accepting they love each other in a very devastating way.
