This book has plenty of action like the fans of Mark Dawson's writing have come to expect. The book is written with another author so there is a small difference in style. The writing still works and is a very enjoyable and exciting read. There are twists and turns that will captivate the reader. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I really do not like to tell readers what the book is about so as not to spoil the fun. I highly recommend this book for actions fans.

I don't think I am in the minority when I say that I do not like to see my favorite authors employing "junior authors" (for the lack of the correct term) to co-write stories with them. This is the first time I noticed Mark Dawson doing it. Witness X is a novella about a Group Fifteen operative (#12) given an assignment of tracking down some North Korean assassins. Bryan Duffy is the operative and the reader will find him interesting to be sure. Perhaps a little too undisciplined and resistant to and disrespectful of authority to be believable in a British intelligence agency. The action was excellent, as usual.

Short but sweet and spicy, Witness X takes the reader on a fast and furious ride. Written as a slice of history in Mark Dawson's infamous Group 15 roster, readers are treated to, not only a fast-paced, smart and no-nonsense mission, but also a look under the hood of Group 15 agent Bryan Duffy. Whether you're already familiar with Mark Dawson's world of Group 15 or just meeting them for the first time, Witness X is a seamless collaboration with Scott Mariani, and a great stand-alone story that delivers all the great elements of a Group 15 mission we've come to look forward to.

Even though this is a novella, the characters were well defined. The action was plausible with a current theme of today. I've never been disappointed by a book by Mark Dawson. The main character in Witness X is Duffy. He is a brutal man but hasn't lost all of his compassion. He may think all he does is kill, but there is the love of his country above all else. I hope there might be an expanded version of Duffy in the future. He needs to finish the job he started in this novella of stopping the Korean regime. Maybe it will be Duffy who will halt the threat of nuclear war. I would definitely recommend reading Witness X.

    Doesn't mean dull and boring.
There's a traitor leaking secrets to North Korea which could change the world dynamics.
Can Duffy, still facing legal issues, stop the leak in time?
For a short story (novella) there's non-stop action and tenderness which are hallmarks of Mr. Dawson's books.
Great reading for a very late bus.

Another amazing side story and introduction to Bryan Duffy. This guy has guts of steel as he faces evil from North Korea. These bad guts are a breed of pure evil and want some big secrets and their ruthless behavior sends Duffy after them!

I am a fan of Mark Dawson, particularly John Milton, so I was excited to get this book. Then I was disappointed that it was only a novella and only took about an hour to read. The story is good, but so disappointed in its length.

This novella sees Group 15 lose their Oh never mind that would be spoiling it! Suffice it to say that this is an intermediary filler that had it been around awhile ago, would have filled in so many gaps with Beatrix Rose & John Milton let alone Pope. Yet none of them but Rose are mentioned here.

A nice little novella and a bit racy. A fast paced novel that gives the origins of the black assassins group. Another member included in the face to stop North Korean arms pilfering.

"Witness X" is a novella centered on Bryan Duffy, a Group Fifteen operative tasked with unraveling the mystery behind North Korean assassins responsible for an acid attack on his former girlfriend. Duffy's intriguing character. The novella, marked by excellent action sequences, maintains a brisk pace, complemented by the brevity of the book. While Duffy's character may stretch credibility, "Witness X" offers an enjoyable and concise read for those seeking a dose of gripping espionage.

I never thought I’d feel positive towards a character like Duffy, but Mark Dawson has managed it here. Despite knowing what awaits Duffy in his future, here we see a fiercely loyal man who has his own sense of right and wrong. I can’t wait for the next instalment... I’d even read a Duffy series if Mark ever decided to pursue it. Group Fifteen has a lot of potential and this story certainly stands up with Mark’s best work.
