- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2016I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Words of a Soul for an honest review. OMG!! Wow, where do I start?! Let me start by saying how much I loved this book, Lisa Fulham has poured her heart and soul into this anthology, through the poems depicting winter and darkness to those of spring and love she captured my mind and heart with her writing. I'm not going to give a lot away but I'm going to share just a few titles that really spoke to me and why. I loved the little poems titled Flash poetry that were intermingled throughout the anthology my favourite had to be a the poem with the first line 'The year is slipping by...' this one gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. There was one poem called Contradiction, omg while reading this one it was like I was looking in a mirror the words were exactly how I feel most of the time!! The Haunted Asylum was a dark powerful haunting poem, the vivid description of the scenes had my heart pounding and I felt I was holding my breath throughout. I absolutely adored 'The Lonely Man on the Canal it was such a beautiful and heart breaking story.
Throughout all the poems Lisa portrays a depth of emotion straight from the heart and that's what evoked similar emotions as I was reading them. Thank you Lisa Fulham for this simply beautiful anthology sharing the light and dark that each of us can experience in our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep ... Rough ... a must read !
What to say except that it left me speechless ! This collection of poems is divided in 4 main themes : Ice, Darkness, Depths and Love, and is a mix of longer poems and shorter ones, called ‘Flash Poetry’. I can’t talk about each poem, nor can I choose one to be my favourite. As Lisa wisely said, poetry can’t be explained or justified. It’s something you have to read, feel, live. As the 4 themes suggest, these poems are raw and deep, and deal with many issues, loss, depression, love, heartbreak … It is very different from her previous work, much darker, but you are driven in a road full of turns, curves. A real ride of emotions. I got teary at times, and had goosebumps many times. It’s beautifully written her her words shine through, as does her soul in this book. She lays bare for us in this book and I can guarantee that it will take you at the core !
