⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶🌶.5 Paranormal Fantasy Slow Burn Mystery/Suspense This series kicks off with a bang!! Right out the gates, we have so much mystery and suspense. Love the detail about the Shadowland and all the training that Tala had with Prish. You could tell from the moment that Tala and Fire Wolf met there would be tension. Their witty & snarky banter was perfect between them. I believe the goodness inside Fire Wolf was just a taste of what his true nature will reveal further into the series.

    I have been searching for something to get my out of my reading funk. I’ve been reading so many of the same type of books, and not being able to find something different I was actually getting frustrated.

    This was such a breath of fresh air! Tala and Tessa, twin witches who co-own a magic shop in Chicago. These two women could not be more different! Tessa is a bubbly person who unabashedly craves attention. Tala, the more blunt and responsible twin, prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

    When Tessa is abducted from their shop, and the authorities refuse to help, she has to come to terms with having more attention on her than she bargained for. Especially the attention of Fire Wolf, a hunter she hires to help find her sister. As the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that both Tala and Fire Wolf have secrets of their own, and a pull to each other that seems to get stronger, the longer they look for Tessa.

    I loved this. The subtle sense of mystery, and the little plot twist at the end. I’m excited for the rest of this series!!

    What great writing. Krista Street is a new author for me and she did not disappoint. The main characters were intriguing and well developed. There was a lot of adventure and suspense. The romance part was a super slow build, and if you're looking for hot sexy scenes maybe we'll find it book 2! If I could give this book 10 stars I would!     Well this book took you on a journey. From missing sister, to hunters, the bonds, and hot and steamy and more in between.

    Not gonna lie...I like fire wolf and he's made even cuter with him not knowing what is going on with his feelings and his wolf.

    The connection is there but oh are they super stubborn. With they both give in...looking forward to seeing what happens next.

    So this book was kind of hard to rate. The best thing I could come up with that it was fine and it was okay. There is a lot of repetition and a lot of internal dialogue and then a lot of talking about lust and a lot of talking about it and some heavy petting but no PinV yet. The middle of the book was somewhat boring and they probably could have cut out like 75 pages of dialogue and been perfectly fine with telling the story. Some of the things just didn't hold up though for instance the Fire Wolf is part werewolf and doesn't realize what's going on with him and that the fact that his mate bond with the FMC has triggered. Which makes no sense because it's something that he should know even though he's not part of a pact he still is around wolves and it's common a knowledge enough that the FMC knows about it and used to date a werewolf. I think part of the problem too is we only see the fmc's POV so we don't actually know how much the firewolf actually knows about what's going on and how much she is implying what the storyline is if that makes sense. I did like that finding her sister was wrapped up in the first book and wasn't dragged out over all four books because that can get boring. I don't think I'm going to continue on with the series just because I have read reviews from the other books that said they weren't that intriguing but I do think this storyline is fairly good.

    … and I’ve read quite a few. This is a review of the whole series but no spoilers.

    Each book is quite short and reasonably tightly written. Usually by the end of a four book series I’m pretty keen for it to be done so I can move on but with this one I genuinely wished for more and wanted to know more about main and secondary characters as they were so engaging. No huge surprises or massive plot twists but enough to keep it more interesting than the usual. Also (within the parameters of the genre) more believable than usual with no need to suspend belief! Give it a go!!! I even downloaded the bonus chapter and I almost never do that!
