Wrong Side of the Tracks: A Small-Town Romance (Hope Valley Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,436 ratings

Gypsy Bradbury was never destined for great things. Or at least that’s what she’d convinced herself of. Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, she had learned that hoping for more was a waste of time. Then Marco forced his way into her life and gave her a glimpse of a future brighter than any she could have imagined. But if her past taught her anything, it was that if something seemed too good to be true... it probably was.

The promise of a quiet, simple life was what drew Marco Castillo to Hope Valley. After experiencing war and death first hand, he was looking for something easy. Then he met a woman with guarded eyes and the most beautiful smile he’d ever seen. The only problem was she came with more baggage than a 747.

There is nothing easy about Gypsy, but Marco knows without a doubt that the promise of her is well worth the effort. She’s the strongest, bravest woman he’s ever met, and when the life she’s fought to build for her and her family is threatened, Marco is determined to win that battle for her. Whether Gypsy wants his help or not.

Sweet and sexy story...
Despite her hard life, Gypsy Bradbury wouldn't trade anything for the love she has of her brothers and sisters. While she isn't ashamed of what she has to do to make ends meet, she also has issues realizing the kind of worth she possesses. And she absolutely refuses to give another man any sort of power over her life, ever again. Marco Castillo moved to Hope Valley for a fresh start, and was immediately entranced with all things Gypsy Bradbury. But while his desire to get closer to her ends up with her avoiding him at all costs, it isn't until she may be in danger that she allows him to finally help her. But Gypsy has seen a lot of heartbreak in her complicated life, and Marco has his work cut out for him if he wants to break through her impenetrable walls... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wrong Side of the Tracks was a sweet and sexy story about a woman who would do anything for the people she loves, but needs help seeing just how special of a person she is all on her own. Marco looks at Gypsy and he can only see a devoted and beautiful woman who he craves a connection with, but she isn't going to let him in her life quite so easily. But, if Marco succeeds, he may just realize that sometimes the things that you fight the hardest for are the most rewarding in the end... Gypsy has sacrificed her entire life to jump in and raise her siblings as if they were her own. After she had to drop out of high school, she makes money by working at the grocery store by day... and stripping by night. She takes one look at Marco and decides he is way too good for a poor girl from a trailer like her... and vows to steer clear of his way too tempting assurances. Marco is the sweetest and swooniest of men, and he not only works hard at getting Gypsy to let him in, but he devotes so much time and effort to making her life easier. With a mysterious past that he avoids talking about, his dedication to Gypsy and her family leaves him with a new type of family dynamic that he desperately want to be a part of. With another fabulous couple finding their HEA in the Hope Valley series, Gypsy and Marco's devotion to the people they love made for a beautiful and sweet read. With all the hard work being done at breaking down walls and a danger still lurking in Hope Valley, this book had some light suspense and of course, all kinds of sexy and entertaining moments as well. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

    ***5 ‘Brilliant’ Stars***

    This series is killing me.

    No.

    Seriously. Killing. Me.

    Why you ask?

Because not only do I grow more fond the couples I’ve already met, but fall into adoration with the current couple doing their own special mating dance and THEN become absolutely fascinated with a newbie character (and OMG I’m ALL in with this one ~ Mr. Beardsalot is sooo MINE) all while needing another couples story ASAP.

It’s truly a vicious cycle, one admittedly isn’t a horrible one, but really? How can I pick my favorite when there are already so many to choose from and more to come? It’s not fair. It really isn’t...but onto the review.

I’ve loved Gypsy since first meeting her in Eden and Linc’s book and after experiencing all that she has been through and all that she is fighting to hold onto, I couldn’t help but adore her. She has her walls and she did things that had me growling and wanting to shake her BUT she comes by it all honestly and it was hard to truly be upset with her knowing just how huge her heart was. Marco. This man killed me. In the best of ways. He has his secrets and his walls, but when he’s in. The man is ALL in. Alpha AF definitely describes him, but in the best of ways: charming, kind, generous, honest and protective. The man is the total package.

As for their journey to their HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed the push/pull between them. Their chemistry was off the charts, but more than that, they just flowed when they were together. Even with their mile high walls, and yet Marco’s are just as thick and high as Gypsy’s, they had that thing that had me believing that they were a perfect fit for each other.

There is a bunch of stuff I could add here, but what it comes down to is that this book hit all the right buttons for me and has me loving this series even more. The family dynamic, the well written characters, the touch of suspense...it’s just all that and a bag of chips. As for the supporting cast of characters. I loved hanging out with Eden & Linc, Tempie & Hayes and Nona & Trick and seeing how their relationships are going. Gypsy’s siblings were so much fun and Odette was awesome! Rox is killing it and I’m hoping we see more of Susan, because she was awesome, but...Xander, Xander is mine. Simple as that. But I cannot wait to get my hands on Cord and Rory’s book! I’ve been waiting not so patiently since Out of My League and I NEED to know all that happened between them and see how they’ll finally get their HEA!

This might be my favorite book of this series so far. I knew Gypsy had endured a hard childhood, but I had no idea how much I would love her as a main character. She was strong willed and determined while still being loyal and loving to her five younger siblings. I thought Marco was her perfect match. I loved his easygoing nature with Eden in the first book and that definitely carried over into this book, but he was a very layered character and surprisingly in tune with his emotions.

Gypsy had spent most of her life caring for her siblings. It wasn’t until Eden and Nona forced their way into her life that she felt like she had her own circle of friends. But when Marco decides that he wants a chance to be with Gypsy, that’s when her life really changes. He doesn’t accept the small crumbs of her life, he demands all of her. It was fun getting to see them both fall, and the small time apart was heartbreaking, but Gypsy and Marco had an amazing romance.

I loved all of Gypsy’s siblings. They each brought something to the story and I loved that Marco immediately realized Gypsy and her siblings were a package deal and took steps to have a relationship with each of them. I loved how protective Rhodes was of Gypsy. He wanted to see his sister happy and made that clear to Marco.

This was an emotional story of resilience. Gypsy had a lot of baggage and it took some time for her to open up, but once she did, Marco was ready to give her the brilliant life he promised.

‘Wrong side of the tracks’ is the fourth story in the ‘Hope Valley’ series and one of the books that I was looking most forward to, to read this summer. Because after reading the 3 previous books in this series, Gypsy’s character was still a bit of a mystery to me. But the one thing that I did know about her, was that Gypsy may be young but she already had had a hard life. That she wouldn’t fall for any man, that the man who wanted to conquer her heart, had to be very special. So that made me very curious to Gypsy’s story. And Marco was indeed a very special guy. He wasn’t only strong enough to break through the wall that Gypsy had built around her heart but also to take care of her brothers and sisters too.

Gypsy may be only 25 years old but she already knows a lot about responsibility, about taking care of family, about love and heartbreak. Gypsy is the oldest of six children, her parents decided after the youngest child was born (two years ago) that being parents wasn’t something for them, so they left and Gypsy became the only caretaker and ‘the parent’ for her 5 younger siblings. Life isn’t easy but the love that Gypsy gets from her siblings is worth every worry. One of the difficult decisions that Gypsy had to made, to provide for her family, was to become a stripper. It is not something that she likes but it pays the bills. Then she meets the most handsome and interesting man…..Marco. He’s everything that she dreamt of as a young girl before her heart got broken too many times. Because of that, she keeps away from him. But Marco isn’t a man that will accept distance. No! He wants to get very close to Gypsy. Will Gypsy let him in? In her heart and in her family? Or is the wall around her heart too big to break through?

This story was everything that I hoped for. We got to see the ‘real’ Gypsy, a woman who loves passionate but who also hurts very deep. A strong woman with a lot of responsibilities. Life made her hard, so she needed a man who understood all that and Marco is the perfect guy for her. He also had had a difficult life and heartbreak. I loved how he could be both dominant when needed but also patient and soft hearted at other times, especially with the children. I really loved them as a couple and Gypsy’s brothers and sisters made this story more emotional. ‘Wrong side of the tracks’ is another great book in this series. The story is told from both POV’s but we get a bit more of Gypsy’s POV than Marco’s but I didn’t mind that. This book can be read as a standalone.

I’m already looking forward to the next book, that will be about Rory and Cord!!!

Book 4 in the series, and they just don’t stop pulling me further and further in. I loved Marco when we met him in Eden’s book, and wondered who he would end up with and what his story would be. I loved learning about him and his bossy alpha tendencies 😂 Gypsy has always been interesting, again from meeting her in Eden and Lincs book, I will be honest though, it took me a lot longer to warm up to her than the other female leads, I think it was because she put up such a fight. I understood some of her reservations, but felt that she was sometimes a little childish. She eventually won me over, but so far she is my least favourite female. Loved her commitment to her siblings.

Now the next book is one I a so looking forward to reading Rory and Cord, this is gonna be good!

Met Marco in a previous book and and boy was he liked. Gypsy had the toughest life ever protecting and supporting her siblings and working any job she could find. Marco and Gypsy have an attraction to each other, but Gypsy doesn't trust him to stay the course with her family and her dating history. Marco is the top man and would do anything for Gypsy and her family he just need to break down the walls Gypsy has around her
