About the author

No matter where she goes, USA Today Bestselling author Nikki Lynn Barrett hears voices in her head. Instead of calling her crazy and locking her up, her family realizes it's just a product of being an author and allows her to write the stories so that the voices shut up.
But they don't. And probably never will. There's no need to lock her up, Nikki knows she'll never escape the voices, not until each and every last story is written. And for every story she writes, about ten or more ideas pop up.
When she isn't slaving away at her computer writing books that will probably make you cry and keep you in suspense, Nikki plots to take over the world one book at a time. What? It's a sickness. One she can't escape!
Books aren't her only addiction, though. Nikki can be found making up parodies to drive her son crazy, and bantering back and forth with her husband, who somehow manages to steal her away from the fictional world she lives in all the time.
Nikki lives in Arizona with her husband and son, where she can be found using every creativity outlet she can find through music, photography, handcrafted things, and random interests that she may pick up from time to time.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2018I love this continuation of Tucker and Quinn told from the heart with so much honesty. Any great relationship comes with obligations: marriage, children, siblings, parents and takes great understanding, love , commitment, selflessness and forgiveness to ever be successful. Nikki really knows how to tell this kind of story and keeps it clean without giving up any of the love. It's wonderful, sweet, inspirational romance at its best and their story has really touched me. I highly recommend reading Queen of My Heart first which introduces Quinn and Tucker then It's Always Something will be even more special. I eagerly await another from Nikki Lynn Barrett!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2020I love every thing about this novella. It is a very sweet and endearing romance. The character and story building are very well done. I love how the author gives so much insight into the backgrounds of Tucker, Quinn and her sister in such a short story. I love novellas that are so complete.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2020This book will mean more if you read Queen of My Heart first. I loved Tucker and Quinn in the first book and I was glad to read more about them. I can’t imagine how hard it is to sing with Tourette’s. Tucker has been so brave to come out and let people know his problem. Quinn is so good helping him when he has an episode come up. I felt so bad for Tucker when I heard the story of what happened to his dog when he was little. Now he has an opportunity to help an association that trains dogs to help people with seizures, Tourette’s, and other physical ailments. I know it’s hard for Quinn taking care of her sister’s small daughter and helping her sister Winnie start over. The wonderful thing about Quinn is that she always gives of herself to help others. Piper, Winnie’s daughter, is a cutie and the dogs in the book made me fall in love. I think it’s wonderful that Ms. Barrett shows a side of Tourette’s where a celebrity is thriving. I strongly encourage you to read the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2018A stand alone read with a HEA. I am in the minority with this one. I didn't love it from the very beginning and at about 1/3 of the way in I was totally depressed. It starts off telling you how the hero at 10 years old is diagnosed with Tourette's. Apparently his father blames him and it is destroying his family. During an episode which his family doesn't understand at all, he scares his beloved pet to the point of running away in a snow storm. He never sees his dog again and that plus the disease and his parents handling of it has left a big scar on his soul.
Then we advance to him as a young very successful country star. He has been married for a little over a year to a child star with issues of her own. She was working at 9 and supporting her addicted mother and eventually her sister. They seem to want the paycheck but don't have anything to do with her. So at nine she is in Hollywood by herself sending a paycheck home. This gal has a sense of having to support her dependent mother, who by the way is a total *itch. Now newly married she has custody of her addicted sister's child. Not sure where the father is or if they even know who he is. The sister is clean for the moment so they move her to Nashville so they can keep an eye on her and let her get on her feet and get custody of her child back.
The careers of the two main characters are keeping them in separate parts of the country. They are deeply concerned with the divorcing of celebrity couples and constantly worry about it happening to them. Both of them have very bad memories of Christmas and the holiday is quickly approaching. I was sort of lost as to how these two got together. I feel as though I walked in on the middle of a story. Maybe there were other books and I read this one out of order. So it starts with the H&h being already married. He seems crazy about her and she seems to be always worrying about where her career is going, taking care of her niece, and keeping her sister clean. It always amazes me when a family member sacrifices everything in their life to be at the beck and call of a family member that just uses them. I probably have a warped sense of family but I just can't see giving up your life for a family member that is doing nothing but sucking the life out of you. I wonder if this gal would have been so easy to be used if she was stocking shelves at Wal Mar and not having unlimited funds to work with. Have to wonder too what the sister would have done if she had to take care of herself and didn't have someone always ready to pick up the pieces. tBut whatever. Lots of reviews loved the story and all their issues and how they overcame them. It just wasn't for me. I like to be entertained when I read. This just wasn't doing it for me. It is probably a very good story and there was one part I did really enjoy seeing was when the hero gives his name and money to help an organization that trains and gives companion dogs to children with illnesses. That was a nice touch. So, don't want to discourage anyone from reading the story. I would say read it for yourself and you decide how you feel about it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 4/5/18
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2018Quinn and Tucker are in the spotlight. She is an actress, he is a country music star. They are raising her sister's daughter because the sister has drug issues like the mom. It is a crazy world for them until a charity who helps service animals tries to get them to help them get more money. Tucker has Tourette's. He doesn't realize the value of these dogs for him until this connection. Love the ups and downs with this family. Wondeful, emotional book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2019I fell in love with Quinn and Tucker in the first book. Tucker and Quinn are perfect together. Tucker will make you swoon. There were times the book had me in tears. Quinn and Tucker both survived bad childhoods. "It's Always Something" is the perfect title for this book because, due to their careers there was a lot of problems they had to deal as they were always in the limelight. To make matters worse Quinn ends up getting temporary custody of her niece after her sister gets arrested and agrees to go to rehab for her drug addiction and then she finds out that Tucker has Tourette's and he didn't want Quinn to know. With their careers, health issues, families and other stuff kept them apart for most of the year but, they took great steps to keep in touch and spend as much time together as possible. People are wondering if they are really as happy or as much in love as they seem. Some think it is just a matter of time before they go their separate ways, like so many other famous couples have. Nikki Lynn Barrett you did another awesome job with this book!! I truly Loved it. This is another MUST read book!!
