You, Again: MM Small Town/Hockey Romance (The Elmwood Stories Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,589 ratings

The hometown hockey hero and his best friend’s brother…

Vinnie

Hockey is in my blood. I learned to skate before I learned how to ride a bike. I’ve been on a wild ride, playing at the highest level for some of the biggest and best teams in the league. But now it’s over, and I’m not sure what to do with myself.

So I'm going home to Elmwood.

But I’ll tell you what I’m not gonna do—I’m not going to coach my buddy’s junior hockey league. No chance. I don’t know how to deal with kids, and besides, the other coach—who happens to be my best friend’s brother—hates me. With reason.

That may be old news, yet something tells me we’re going to have to deal with the past.

And that's almost as scary as coaching teens.

Nolan

No, I don’t hate Vinnie, but he drives me nuts.

He’s cocky, goofy, selfish, and yeah…after all these years, I’m still attracted to him. But I’m a responsible adult now. I run my family’s business, and with the help of my ex, I’ve made Elmwood Diner into a New England institution.

So maybe my life isn't particularly exciting at the moment, and maybe Vinnie isn’t the worst. Nonetheless, I have no desire to rekindle a friendship with the hockey hero who no doubt will be on the first flight out of town the second he gets bored or gets a better offer.

And I’m not coaching with him. No way.

Ugh…

I can’t believe I’m doing this again.

You, Again is an MM bisexual, best friend’s brother, frenemies to lovers romance featuring old friends, a new quest, and a little hockey HEA!

Small-town swoons and hockey romance, I'm in love! Vinnie and Nolan are a delight and left the biggest smile on my face and in my heart. I adore everything about them and their heartwarming second-chance love story. Their banter is fun, their chemistry is fire, and their romance is true bliss. I wish I could visit Elmwood for realsies, but I'll settle for visiting again and again.-- Devoted Reader, Amazon, 5 Stars

Such a beautiful story about coming home and getting a second chance at being yourself. -Cynthia Osborne, Amazon, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this story so much and it makes my heart soooo happy. he romance and the heat were perfect, and I am definitely here for an Elmwood series!! -Barb, Amazon, 5 Stars

This has two of my favourite tropes combined - best friend's brother and second chance at first love, as well as it being a sports romance - so win all round! This is pretty much what you'd expect from a book using these tropes, it's an enjoyable read, with great chemistry and a solid connection between the men, witty dialogue, snark and humour that fits the narrative and a HEA that you can see coming a mile away but still cheer when it arrives. -Cadiva, Amazon UK, 5 Stars

A really beautiful story with grown men that feels honest and real. Definitely read. -Kindle Customer, Amazon Australia, 5 Stars

This was such a FEEL GOOD story! It made me so happy. My heart is still gooey. Vinnie and Nolan were simply spectacular together. The small town, the secondary characters, the plot, the thoughts, the sexy times. Everything just worked. Cannot wait for book two! - Laura St, Goodreads, 5 Stars

Lane Hayes has a winner on her hands. I loved Nolan and Vinnie, their interactions, respect, and love for each other. I'm ready for the upcoming books in the Elmwood series! - .Lili. , Goodreads, 5 Stars

Ms. Hayes never fails to write fabulous, swoon-worthy love stories and You Again was no exception. This was a well-written and enjoyable read and once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. I was left wanting more of Nolan and Vinnie, but in a good way. Definitely a recommendable read! -Tracy, Bayou-Book Junkie, Goodreads, 5 Stars

When you think you're just indulging in some sweet fluff and you get that but it comes with a sneak attack of pure, believable, unadulterated romance you know it's Lane Hayes at her best. Vinnie & Nolan are delicious together but not treacly and their story was just what I needed & wanted right now. -Annery, Goodreads, 5 Stars

The story is an emotional roller coaster with moments of humor, joy, snark, romance, steam, sorrow and gut clenching sadness and regret. I was in tears in several times and my throat is still burning as I write this. The ending is sweet and joyous with such a perfect small town moment. The epilogue is fun and very uplifting and hopeful. It was a great read, not too angsty, and ultimately serves to reinforce our faith in human kindness and acceptance.-- Beth, Goodreads, 5 Stars

I adore Lane's books, and this is no exception. The banter, the feels, the heat, the laughs, and the feeling of found and blood family. All the elements that make up a great Lane Hayes story are here. This series is shaping up to be one of my favorites, and the first book is the only one out so far!!! -Mama Bear's Fabulous Book Finds, Bookbub, 5 Stars

Just enough drama and angst to keep the story spicy and all the right feels. Everything in this story adds up perfectly! Another great Lane Hayes story and most certainly one of my favorite couples from this author. -AL, Bookbub, 5 Stars

I loved the vibe and chemistry between Vinnie and Nolan. These two have such a long, rich history together but have not really been in each other's lives for years. They reconnect in a way neither expected but both are there for! Watching them go from casual/no strings to all in is amazing. I can't wait for the next book in this series! -Kathy, Bookbub, 5 Stars

Lane Hayes lives in sunny Southern California with her amazing husband, who thankfully doesn’t mind cooking, and their fabulous fox red Labrador, George, who’s pure mischief. Both provide oodles of inspiration for the low-angst, humorous books Lane loves to write.

She’s been telling stories about sexy, funny, sometimes geeky and quirky men who find love for a dozen years now and loving every minute. In her previous life, she sat at a desk and dealt with numbers, so yes…romance is much more satisfying!

Lane loves tea, travel, and chocolate…in any order. Add a book and she’s set!

Frenemies to lovers, brother's best friend/ best friend's little brother/ throw in some second chance vibes, small-town charm, and hockey goodness and you have You, Again. In this news series, Lane Hayes introduces us to the Smalltown of Elmwood and newly retired Hockey star Vinnie, and Nolan, the little brother of Vinnie's best friend with whom he shares a past.

I really enjoyed digging into this story and found myself wanting to get to the bottom of Vinnie and Nolan's complicated relationship. The supporting characters in this story were great too.
Ronnie, Mary-kate, JC, Trunk, and even Sienna helped make this a well-rounded story with tender moments, serious ones, and lots of humor sprinkled in for good measure. Vinnie and Nolan's road to HEA wasn't without its bumps, but I liked the ease with which they traveled through anger, resentment, tolerance, acceptance, and giving in to the attraction they never stopped feeling even after all these years.

I especially enjoyed the tender moments Vinnie and Nolan shared, like when Vinnie showed him the spot where he had carved their initials before he left Elmwood. Little things like this showed just how deep his feelings were no matter what he tried to tell himself. I loved Vinnie's journey of self-discovery and Nolan's realization that he had the guy pegged all wrong. It was gratifying to see the two of them come together so completely and perfectly. This was a low-angst story, and a must-read for anyone who enjoys stories with small towns, hockey, brothers, best friends, and steamy sexy times.

I cannot wait to read the next book.

A sweet and sexy second chance romance for Nolan and Vinnie.

Nolan and Vinnie are secret high school sweethearts. Nolan is Vinnie’s best friend’s younger brother and the 3 of them were great friends all through school. Nolan and Vinnie spent one hot and steamy summer together before Vinnie left for college and he buried his bisexuality deep down, not ready to confront it when he was determined to make it to the NHL.

Vinnie returns home to his tiny town freshly retired and finds himself attracted to Nolan all over again and despite Nolan’s misgivings about Vinnie he can’t stay away from him. They quite quickly restart something and their feelings deepen quickly too but considering their history they’re both unsure to admit what they’re sharing is simply more than experimenting.

This is a very low angst, second romance romance that is incredibly sweet from start to finish. I am a big Nick J. Russo fan and he knocks this one out of the park.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this audiobook.

One of those books that you come across, at just the right time, and make your heart sing.
A pro hockey player who, after his retirement, returns to his hometown (super small) and there he will find his best kept secret. The love he left out of fear a long time ago.
Vinnie and Nolan are loveable. They are complete opposites in their personalities, but they manage to complement each other perfectly and their relationship is very beautiful.
All the side characters contribute to the plot which is very entertaining without any major conflicts.
    An extremely enjoyable lighthearted read.

I enjoyed Nolan and Vinnie's story. I'm a big fan of hockey romances, small-town romances, and awakening tropes so I was excited going in. The characters were great, especially Vinnie with his larger than life personality and caring soul. The story flowed well and the dialogue was on point. Once Vinnie realized he was bottling up attraction for Nolan all these years and gave in, they burned up the sheets! It was so hot and so sweet all at the same time. I enjoyed the way they talked too. They were in bed a lot, but they also spent a ton of time together out of bed just really getting to know each other again after all these years. There was also a cast of side characters that added so much to the story, especially Ronnie, MK, and Nolan's mom, they were all fabulous! The end was very sweet and left me with a smile on my face!

Vinnie has retired from hockey after a sixteen-year career. He is not sure what is next for him and he needs to figure out what his future will be. The one thing he does know is he wishes to return to his hometown of Elmwood and hopefully figure it out.

Nolan has a restaurant in Elmwood. One that has been in his family for generations. He returned home from California, where he was building a career in set design in LA, to help his family after his father's passing. His initial stay was supposed to be a short one but he ended up staying longer. He rebuilt a life in Elmwood one that was good until Vinnie returned to shake it up.

These two have a history together. Vinnie is the best friend of Nolan's older brother and his old friend too. However, that is not all they shared. They had a night where more happened and it seems it was a night neither really forgot. Nearly two decades later the itch of their past seems to need a scratch.

If you're looking for a cute, low-angst, romance with a HEA this book is for you. I enjoyed it.

Well I was looking for a Hockey story with promise and this delivered. Nolan and Kimbo have a past and a very memorable kiss. Kimbo moves on with his life to be the best Hickey player the League has ever seen and he succeeds and over the years retirement comes a calling and he chooses to go back home for good to help out his old best friend. The old best friend has a brother whom is the kiss guy Nolan and he is not happy to see him. Nolan with encouragement from Kimbo tells of his anger towards Kimbo for leaving his brother in the lurch in the past. Once all these feelings have been aired a new kiss is shared and hot and so a relationship begins. I will say Kimbo has a big heart and when uncertainty comes a calling Kimbo is no push over and refuses to lose Nolan as he is the love of his life.

Nolan is not happy to see him, but we soon realise he has been hiding his feelings since they were young. This is a sweet story with a Hallmark movie vibe. Easy reading, low angst.
