Zyon (Kingdoms Of Pelas Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 621 ratings

Venerit warriors fight for the honor of their master’s house, but will they fight to defend an innocent among them?

Kidnapped and offered up as a prize for the three Venerit champions of the kingdom, Theon is terrified and out of his depth. He’s only human and completely at the mercy of the towering Venerit warriors he’s now forced to share a cell with.

Mage lords rule the land, but will Theon allow fear to rule his heart?

Navigating the politics of House Natas and the budding relationship between himself and the champions, Theon discovers enemies lurking around every corner. He’s coming to realize that even though the Venerits hold prestige and honor, they’re just as much slaves to their master as he is. With all of them at the mercy of their Lord, he knows that his champions might not be able to protect him from every threat.

Will the secrets Theon’s kept tear apart everything he’s fought so hard to claim as his own?

Zyon is a Kingdoms of Pelas novel featuring a scrawny human, a towering half-orc, a beautiful tiger, and a fierce gargoyle. As well as plenty of surprises along the way. Equal parts unflinching brutality and robust love story, this book isn’t for the faint of heart. Our characters' journey will continue through the Kingdoms of Pelas series. Zyon features a poly relationship and has a HFN ending. Further content warnings can be found on the copyright page at the beginning of the book.

A wonderful start to a new series - it does end in an HFN, although there is clearly still much to tell. The characters were exceptionally done, and it had fantastic world building. Theon and his found family are slaves, so there is certainly some heartbreak, but they all stand strong together to face any challenges that come their way. Very high heat level (lots of steamy scenes!), but it takes time to get there, so we get to know the characters. I can’t wait for the next book!

This was one of my favorite harem books ever, for the reason that the partners all grew in their relationship, and were very loving and respectful as it progressed. They didn't just start out with sex or a flimsy excuse like it was a porno (as many multiple partner stories do). The characters were satisfyingly fleshed out, and their relationships and predicaments and the POV of the various characters was shown. I liked that the MC's actions seemed to fit his character. I saw one reviewer complaining about the sissyness of the MC vs the macho alpha-ness of the partners. I don't see it that way because this character's history and character are explained and shown in such a way that you know why he's the way he is. We also get a good look inside the alpha lovers' heads and see that they are not cardboard cutouts of cavemen alpha males either - they have reasons for the way they are, they are sensitive and hurting, they have hard pasts, and they are not just what they appear to be on the outside. Also, at least two of the lovers are not all that stereotypically alpha at all. One of them is strong but more lovely in looks than masculine looking. Another is more petite and delicate than the MC even, but likes being in charge. Just because an MC is gentle and likes to bottom, doesn't mean he's being represented as "the woman."
I thought the world building and plot of this story were really fun, and I loved the developments at the end, which I won't mention here to avoid spoilers. It is very fun though, and I am avidly awaiting the release of the sequel.

I love this series it may be one of my all time favorite of the year. All the characters have such distinct personalities and goals. I can’t get over how all of them meshed together so well and created their own found family. I will say the hero who truly stole my heart is the one who has been mistreated the most and I hope we get more of his POV in the next book he is an enigma. I need more of him!!!

This was such a good story from one of my favorite authors. Not that her other paranormal gay MM romance series are bad, but his was surprisingly good and a whole lot better than her continuing normal or non-paranormal MM romance series'.

I can't wait for the next book in this series to come out in paperback!!

Loved it. If I could give this book more stars, I totally would. It is so hard to find a good gay harem romance book until it's a shame. I absolutely hated Natas and the other mages. I wanted to reach in the book and wrong their necks!!!!🤬🤬🤬. Although, I would've loved to know why Wyleyn and Braz didn't get along.

I got this book for free on Kindle unlimited and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is not a light-hearted fantasy. The world is dark and the characters are all slaves inside a brutal system. It’s not nice and it’s not pretty. Survival is not easy, but the MCs do survive and they become a family.
Theon is the main character and the glue to the whole story and his family. It starts with him as a brand new slave thrust into a life he’s not prepared for. His four love interests are there to help him though. They protect him, love him, and help guard his innocence.
This is a good opening book. The characters are interesting and so is the world. A few notes:
—It ends on somewhat of a cliff-hanger. It’s HFN but very precarious.
—This is somewhat of a different harem for me. Normally, all the MCs are together equally. In this story, they all love Theon but may not like each other. They seem to pair off but then love Theon. But weirdly enough, there are some MCs that don’t get along with each other at all and are even jealous of each other. I’m hoping those relationships grow and change, but for now, this is not equal happy sharing.
—Death, assault, and rape are just par for the course. No rape technically happens on page, and Theon is safe, but you do have to deal with another bed slave being raped right before the scene and dealing with the after-affects.
All this to say, I’m looking forward to book 2 and more light in the darkness.

What a great start to a new series. I couldn’t put the book down as lost a lot of sleep. There was mystery, adventure, passion and amazing characters that you just wanted them to succeed and be free. This is the first book in the series and ends in a HFN but I’m excited for the next book. Definite must read.

I was really excited to read this. There aren't that many gay paranormal harem romances out there. And I did finish it so there's that. But there wasn't very much in the way of world building. I'm not sure if this connects to another series or something. But why are mages in charge? Why are these strong shifters slaves? It seems like there are also villagers? The whole premise was very confusing but I just went with it.

So Theon is given to the 3 champions as their prize. And of course they're all gentle Giants. They went from being annoyed with him being afraid of them to being in love with him. But why? And Braz and Wey don't get along so that was weird. And then they set it up so there's a 4th harem member.

This had such promise but it felt lacking to me. I don't know if I'll try the second book when it comes out.

    Hi All,
I think this book is a great start to a new mm paranormal series. I loved it and went looking for the next book before I finished reading the first. (Read in one day, couldn’t put it down lol)
This book has a very different take to PNR, it’s not an Insta love or your my mate book that you see so many of these days.
Instead the main characters take it slow and I think more believable. This is a poly mmm romance but they are all fighting for there right to be free. All the main characters are slaves of different types and are weathering their way around their Lords orders to stay alive.
Many very steamy sex scenes which were great. But there are some triggers for some people. There is some forced situations so if this is a trigger you, may not like some bits.

I would recommend this book to all who love mm PNR.

    The big question….
When’s the next book available :o?

    Cheers
    Brooke

An amazing starting book for a truly detailed and fascinating world with a complicated and profound harem romance!

This is a magical world that has been conquered and molded, with mages at the top and humans, shifters, and all other magical creatures forced into slavery. While slaves can get perks in some roles and gain comforts of they are the best in their role, they are still slaves at the whim of their lords and ladies. Into this comes Theon, a human who confusingly does not know anything about being a slave when he is kidnapped and given as a bed slave as a prize to warrior slaves. Terrified that this new life will be the end of him with pain and horror, he is surprised that the fierce warriors are instead gentle and caring in their private spaces. Slowly Theon learns about slavery and the slaves through Braz, Nica, and Weylyn, and how sweet and complicated each man is. But as slaves their lives are still full of risk and pain, and the mystery of Theon's last is still waiting to come out.

This is not a story that is finished by the end of this book. The relationships between the men were still forming during the books and the wild events happening may throw those feelings into chaos again. There are major problems in this world and the men are caught up in them and likely to have it effect them moving forward. It will be fascinating to learn more about this world, especially with the revelations of the relationships and history at the end of this book. Can't wait to see where this series goes!
