FALL IN LOVE AT THE APPLE HILL BED & BREAKFAST!

Elise Jacobs is
ready for a change. A new beginning. Recently divorced, she relocates to her hometown of Landover, Maine to operate a bed and breakfast she inherited from her grandmother. After growing up with the fondest memories of her childhood being spent there, she relishes the chance for a fresh start and an opportunity to revive the inn. As summer gives way to Autumn, the inn is returning to its grandeur. A handsome guest sets out to challenge Elise at every turn. She knows the wealthy narcissistic type...or does she?

Luke Donovan is ready to trade banking for bon appetit with hopes of opening a bistro in a charming town he spent summers fishing with his dad and grandfather. Finding an obstinate innkeeper consuming his thoughts is more than he'd planned for a brief stay at the most idyllic home tucked within the rolling hills of an orchard.

Apple picking, wine tasting, and a festival await in this sweet opposites attract romantic comedy. Perhaps, a little fall magic will cast a spell on the grounds of the Apple Hill B and B.

"Autumn at Apple Hill by Angie Ellington is a perfect book to read in the Autumn. It gave me all the cozy Fall feelings! The story is set in Maine in a Victorian Bed and Breakfast among an apple orchard. I enjoy reading seasonal books, and this author is one of my favorites for bringing me into a gorgeous Fall setting - New England foliage, hay rides, apple picking, baking pies, sipping pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider on the porch! This book really got me in the Fall spirit."-Gina-Amazon

Get a taste of sweet autumn romance with this Short Story. This later-in-life story is written mainly in the third person with a very narrative feel to the story. It isn't easy to connect with the characters and feel their emotions. The scenery and setting are amazing and genuinely give you the Autumn feels. I love the charm of the small town and the Bed and Breakfast. Although the author is very charismatic with her story, especially the ending, I have to be honest. I was slightly bored by the book. I think that's because the romance was sweet and just starting, the drama was too quickly dealt with, and the narrative was too drawn out in the story. Also, I wouldn't call this a romantic comedy, more just a clean romance.

Elise decides to take over her grandparent's Bed and breakfast in Maine. Her life has been changing in the past year, and this opportunity is just what she is looking for. Strangely, the book is written in almost the third person or with a narrator informing you of the character's actions.

I do like that Elise is honest and a little feisty. Luke, however, I'm not sure what to think about him, yet the interaction thus far isn't favorable. Apple Hill and Portland, Maine, seem to have some idyllic spots for dates and new ventures. The characters are long-winded in some conversations, and it is more like a third-person paragraph than an actual conversation. This book ends sweet, but I didn't read the epilogue.

I really wanted to love this book, but couldn't. The story itself was okay, but the writing was not. Specifically, I really struggled with the dialogue. It was very unnatural. I don't know how to describe it, but people just don't speak to each other that way. It was too wordy, rambley, boring, stiff, and overly proper. Some of the dialogue seemed like monologues. It made the main characters feel very two dimensional and bland. Also, the flow was weird. Sometimes I couldn't tell who was speaking. Sometimes, someone new would start speaking but a new paragraph wasn't begun. Some basic dialogue rules weren't followed, which was distracting.

The story itself was cute. As a divorced person, I enjoyed reading about a woman trying to overcome trust issues. The secondary characters were more interesting. The inn sounded lovely. It was a quick read.

The writing flaws were too hard to get past though.

Autumn at Apple Hill by Angie Ellington is a perfect book to read in the Autumn. It gave me all the cozy Fall feelings! I enjoy reading seasonal books, and this author is one of my favorites for bringing me into a gorgeous Fall setting - New England foliage, hay rides, apple picking, baking pies, sipping pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider on the porch! This book really got me in the Fall spirit. It is a sweet story about a woman, Elise, who inherits a charming B&B and sets out to make it a memorable Fall on Apple Hill in honor of her grandparents who owned it prior to their passing. Great characters and I especially liked Nora, Elise’s assistant and friend. The staff at the B&B are all like family. A new handsome guest, Luke, and Elise start to hit it off together but Elise is wary due to a bad divorce she recently went through. I liked their cute banter and rooted for their happily ever after. The book concludes with the Apple Festival weekend and then a surprise ending. Please note this is a novella, about 235 pages. I really enjoyed it! Happy Reading!

I loved the idea but it was lacking in quality dialogue and character development. I skimmed and skipped some of the middle tbh but I don't feel like I missed anything significant in the story! I want to like it, unfortunately it was just meh for me

I love playful dialogue! I love the warm setting! I seriously want to go visit this b & b! Wish it was real! I heard it through the grapevine that Hallmark really deviated from the book for the movie version. Wish they hadn’t done that! This book was perfect! I’m off to watch the movie now. We shall see!

Elise is looking for happier days, and the memories of when she was at the grandparents place. Now owning their BB place and meeting the ones that come. While Luke was trying to figure out who he was. A cute story of second chances in love and happiness.

Didn't like this style of writing. Seemed like a young adult or teenager book. Didn't finish reading this book.
