Abhorrent Faith Kindle Edition
– Edward Lee, author of
City Infernal and White Trash Gothic
The sequel to 2021’s critically acclaimed novel Abhorrent Siren has arrived! In a story that runs concurrently to the events of the previous book, an interfaith luncheon becomes the scene of unspeakable horror, as the ugliness of the human soul is laid bare figuratively and literally. Abhorrent Faith seethes with anger and hurt, before launching into a wildly violent and terrifying climax. Author John Baltisberger ripped his own heart out and left it on the page to craft this highly intelligent gut punch slab of splatterpunk literature. You are not ready.
“What John gets through to the reader is he is hurt, and he is angry. You can feel that he bled in writing this, tears were shed, and that this is his literal heart and soul.”

About the author

John Baltisberger is an author of speculative and genre fiction that often focuses on Jewish Elements. Through his writing, he has explored themes of mysticism, faith, sin, and personal responsibility. He lives in Austin, TX with his wife and his daughter.
Though mostly known for his bizarre blend of Jewish mysticism and splatter, John defies being labeled under any one genre. His work has spanned extreme horror, urban fantasy, science fiction, cosmic horror, epic verse, and he has even written a guide for mindful meditation.
While relatively new to the writing community, (his first book was published in 2018) John has become known for his work in verse, having worked in both extremely short works and massive novella-length poetic epics. He continues to work to push himself to explore new avenues of expression and horror literature.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2022Just as the nightmarish and unfathomable events of Abhorrent Siren are reaching their feverish conclusion in San Antonio, the events of Abhorrent Faith begin. An inclusive, interfaith potluck hosted by a local Rabbi is interrupted by a hideously transformed--and transforming--monstrosity and the rabidly bigoted evangelical preacher seemingly controlling it. As the world outside the synagogue devolves into chaos and madness, a different sort of madness is on display in the defiled sanctuary.
Baltisberger packs this follow-up to his previous novella with just as much perversity and horror but a different brand of social commentary. The scathing indictment of the opioid epidemic is still present, but that takes the backseat as he focuses his ire on bigotry, nationalism, and the anti-semitism embedded in altogether too much of society--and human history as a whole. Calling out the inherent hypocrisy, scriptural ignorance, and mental gymnastics embedded within right-wing Christianity, one can't help but feel a thrill each time Ari stands up to Adrian King. At the same time, one can't help but feel the almost tearful frustration and anger at Ari--or anyone--having to contend with the level of ignorance and hate given unworthy life in the story's antagonist. It doesn't take long for the reader to recognize that the monsters aren't all outside, and I'm not talking about the infected, mutating members of Ari's interfaith circle.
Altogether too much of this narrative is non-fiction, in the sense that these abhorrent acolytes of intolerance and acrimony are everywhere one looks, and the anti-semitic sentiments are alive and thriving wherever people like that are platformed and given attention. Baltisberger is angry over this, and that anger seethes beneath the surface of his spectacular storytelling in this follow-up to Abhorrent Siren.
The discerning eye might recognize a certain similarity between the cover art and a certain evangelical nut known for unhinged rants and barely suppressed bigotry. This is not an accident.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2022The awesome people of St Rooster Books were kind enough to send me a copy of their latest offering by John Baltisberger, 'Abhorrent Faith', for review.
The sequel to last year's beautiful monster novel 'Abhorrent Siren' couldn't be more 'now' as the world we are living in, gets ready for another sh**storm created by the lowest kind of lifeform; humans.
Even though 'Abhorrent Faith' runs concurrently with 'Siren', this is about humans sitting on thrones of power, manipulating faith, gods, people, beliefs and even monsters in order to achieve their goals.
During a gathering of clergymen at an interfaith event, all hell breaks loose as riots and monsters take Texas by storm and amidst all this extravaganza of monstrosity a despicable figure of authority rises to enslave humanity.
Who will be the last man or monster standing and will evil or good prevail?
Enter a world coming to an end, created by the wonderful and twisted storytelling of Mr Baltisberger.
This is a blood-soaked, terror-filled, mutation induced carnage of a book infused with enough vitriol for faith gone wrong.
This gem of the extreme horror literature is a fascinating, fast paced, incredible edge of your seat read that pulls the reader in a world of the most hideous, blood churning mutations including the one of faith.
John Baltisberger has managed once again to make my jaw touch the floor. A fantastic reading experience and a perfect addition to the series.
If there is a follow up, oh please do sign me up. It takes a certain size of balls to write such a book and Mr Baltisberger has them Kaiju proportioned.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2022As an outbreak of rioting commences all over the state of Texas, an assembly of clergy gather for an interfaith summit of welcoming dialogue. This collaboration of religious leaders quickly begin to witness horrific visions of fire and brimstone as the outside uprising develops into monstrosities and anomalies straight from Hell. Rising from the chaos, a madman representing prejudice, racist and bigotry initiates his unholy mission upon humanity. The ultimate clash of good and evil has begun.
John Baltisberger unleashes his next installment in the Abhorrent series. Once again shaping an environment of surreal nightmares, Abhorrent Faith carries an apocalyptic ambience of psychotic heathens and faithless apostates driven by their own interpretations of the gospel. All the while, earth-shaking Kaiju manifestations of pure evil and violent deities roam the city streets causing death and destruction.
Baltisberger uses skillful metaphors and analogies to express the positives and negatives of today’s society. His writing style of expanded theology and sacred text is definitely unique and distinctive to the genre. Not just anyone can successfully combine intelligent ethical values and cultural beliefs with corpse defiling and extreme sexual violations. These stomach churning chapters of disturbing maddening malformations will entice the most extreme trigger warnings obtainable.
If you have found yourself losing faith, your doubts could be the doorway to enter a deeper faith…an Abhorrent Faith…which is led by virtue of an author named John Baltisberger. This distinctive denomination of abnormality has converted yours truly into a five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ recommendations.
