The Accidental Master: A Puppy Play Romance Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,077 ratings

One accident has turned Jackson’s life completely upside down.

When Jackson’s sister inadvertently posts an ad for a puppy play book instead of his dog training business, his inbox explodes with the most interesting emails he’s ever seen. In a sea of kink that he’s never even considered, one sweet letter stands out. It’s polite and earnest, and something about the two men’s words touches him in a way he never expected…but they’re not just looking for a lover…they’re looking for a master.

If finding a master for one pup was hard, finding a master who wanted two was almost impossible.

Cooper and Sawyer know that they have a better chance of winning the lottery than meeting the man of their dreams. Mature, sweet, dominant masters don’t just drop out of the sky…and when they add in the fact that they’re looking for a man who will love them both, the odds are astronomical. When they see Jackson’s ad online, Cooper couldn’t be more excited. He’s confident that the mysterious man who hints at being a master will be perfect for them. Sawyer, on the other hand, isn’t so sure that everything will go the way Cooper imagines, but saying no to Cooper is like stopping an excitable, well-meaning train. However, when Jackson actually responds to their email, suddenly the impossible seems to be right within their grasp.

Sparks and laughter fly as Cooper and Sawyer get to know the man who just might become their accidental master.

M.A. Innes and Shaw Montgomery are two sides to the same squirrely author brain.

M.A Innes is the part of my imagination that leads to kinky and curious things like age play and puppy play.

Shaw Montgomery is the aspect that likes sweet BDSM but isn’t taboo in nature.

An accidental switch in ads brings a big surprise to Jackson's life, when it leads to meeting Sawyer and Cooper. Two younger men who are looking for a third - and a Master. New to the kinky world of Puppy Play, Jackson finds himself intrigued by the idea of making these two his pups. Together the three men will need to be open, honest and trusting, and if they can they may may just find everything they ever needed -together.

I have never read a Puppy Play book because I wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading about that kink. But something in the description of this book gripped me and made me give it a shot - and I am glad I did. I loved the characters and was caught up in their story from the beginning. Sweet moments, sexy moments, and some funny moments, all added up to a great read. Imay be checking out some other books with this theme in the future after reading this. I am for sure checking out more titles by M.A. Innes. I definitely recommend this book.

Jackson lets his sister talk him into placing a Facebook ad to promote his dog training business. Now, he’s getting emails from men into puppy play, which is not something he’s ever been interested in. He answers most of the messages with polite responses explaining the mixup. One email in particular catches Jackson’s imagination. It’s from two young men who are both submissives into puppy play. They’re in search of a dominant master to take them both under his wing. Cooper and Sawyer know that it’s going to be hard to find a man to take on both of them, but they’ve been through a lot together and can’t imagine ever being apart.

“The Accidental Master” is a very sweet, slow-burn romance about the evolution of a three-way relationship. Jackson and the two young men don’t meet in person until halfway through the book. Until then, it’s an often humorous series of conversations while the two pups try not to scare off a potential master, and Jackson tries to figure out if he can deal with the idea of puppy play, let alone with two puppies.

Of the three men, I think Cooper is the pivotal character. Despite some bad past experiences, the young man remains irrepressible. He is also a very energetic personality. A career in a coffee shop may not have been the best choice. It’s Cooper’s enthusiasm which keeps the conversation with Jackson going when Sawyer is inclined to let it drop.

Sawyer met Cooper on the first day of high school, when he had to rescue Cooper from some bullies, and the two have been best friends ever since. He continues to feel very protective of Cooper, but can’t give him everything he needs. Sawyer may be good at planning, budgeting and other adult skills, but he’s no dominant. It’s very tiring emotionally trying to be one for Cooper.

Jackson may not have ever given thought to the kinky lifestyle, but he’s well suited to being a dominant and doesn’t resist the idea once it’s planted. He understands he will have to earn Sawyer and Cooper’s trust. It’s something Jackson takes very seriously. This is just the start of a series following the developing relationship between the three. We’ll have to see where they go from here.

I have read several books by this author (as well as Shaw Montgomery) and I know that I'll be rereading them far into the future. I never thought I'd enjoy M/M romance, being a heterosexual woman. But I can understand the excitement and romance that a person feels towards a man and it's arousing no matter who else finds it so.

This author's books are full of wonderful characters in loving relationships that happen to have some kink to them. Whether it's puppy play, age play, ABDL, DDlb, D&S, BDSM; no matter what you call it, the storytelling is perfect. I find the writing style to support the personalities of the characters. I can particularly feel the characters that are excitable. I find myself loving their exuberance. The writing as well as the editing is perfect and I am buying as much from this author as possible. I'm so happy to have found these stories. Enjoy!

If you love books about puppy play then this book is for you. I loved that Connor and Sawyer are both puppies, bottoms, and in a committed relationship. They know who they are and what their needs are and have had lengthy discussions about finding a master.
Jackson is a dog trainer who had his sister makeup a Facebook as to promote his business but his sister got the ad mixed up with her newest book release and Jackson started getting emails and texts about puppy play training classes which he knew nothing about. However that quickly changed with a little online research. He was also intrigued by an email that he got from Connor and Sawyer, two puppies looking for a master that wants to be both of their masters. Through email communication at first and later by phone calls they start a relationship that just might be what everyone is looking for. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fall headfirst for this trio

This is such an enjoyable read. A first time dom is always a fascinating perspective and the set up in this book was so funny and good. The characters really jumped off the page and I wanted to keep Cooper and Sawyer.
MMM and anything more than that is not my thing and I tend to avoid it. For me it only works if everyone brings something quite different to the table. And this is definitely the case here. Each character is developed well with their own voice and it's easy to imagine them all happy together. The chemistry between them was smoking and they were all having so much fun.
Only criticism which I would have for most of this writers work is that the story feels unfinished... They don't get Jackson's collars and he doesn't name them and those are things I'd love to see. Also just more of this trio together cos they are hilarious.

Wonderful reading. I was looking for some escapism and I certainly found it in this. I was transported to an entertaining and enlightening group of characters with a great story that I just could not put down. There was very little angst, so for me, that also added to the enjoyment of my reading. I am really really glad I got this book and I look forward to re-reading it in the future. I found myself day dreaming about how their story may have continued and decided to check out what else this author had written only to find, quite unexpectantly, that there is a second book and there may even be a third eventually. So, off to get book2 now!

It was the first book’s plot over Puppy play that I read and I need to state that I liked it.
Maybe because of the personal and psychological aspects of this lifestyle that were so well developed or because of how adorable Cooper and Sawyer were, or even how Jackson turned out being a perfect master, I just know the story, despite being steamy, is much more than that.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone interested in reading about this subject.

I really enjoyed this story, a great introduction to puppy play and the various ways people enjoy it.
I do wish there had been more of the actual puppy play scenes though.
Most of the focus was on Jackson getting used to the idea of it rather than the actual playing. That said though, the spicy scenes were hot!
I was sad that there was no scene where Jackson met Sawyer’s puppy or where Cooper got to try the obstacle course, those would have made a good epilogue because I felt like the story ended abruptly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!

This is my first foray into puppy play and it was both cute and beautiful! Loved all three main characters, Cooper with his hyperactive enthusiasm, Sawyer so cute trying to keep his (and Cooper’s) expectations under control, and Jackson (phew, Jackson - fans self), what a dominant hottie. Jackson’s sister injected a little extra sass, which I loved. Everything moved quite fast initially, though not jarringly so, and the original advert mistake was hilarious. I was a little disappointed at the end as it seemed a bit cut short, but I understand there’s a second book so all is forgiven. Loved it.
